Great interview with Ray. I am a cancer survivor it’s been five years now it was tough going but I made it. Hopefully I will be there in March and can have a beer with you guys. 😎
Very interesting as I had a melanoma on my back 40 years ago. Those were the days when the average person would never have heard the word. My melanoma was not visible to me and I only noticed because of an itch. But I was reading the newspaper one day and there was a report on a conference of physicians being held to discuss the problem. After reading this I went to see my doctor and the very next day he had made an appointment for me at the hospital to have it removed. I was lucky as my melanoma had progressed quite far (they measure the thickness of it to grade its severity) and if I had waited any longer it would have soon metastasized and spread throughout my body . Then it is interesting after listening to Rays story as I have just finished several courses of immunotherapy (with BCG) to treat my bladder cancer and just a few days ago was told I am now clear of cancer and will just need checks once a year.
Incredibly inspiring interview Simon. The thing is that regardless of our age when we wake up in the morning we should be grateful (just like Ray does now). Tomorrow is never a given. A top guy and thanks for sharing! 🙏
Great interview, this is a guy you’d wanna meet, down to earth, no nonsense, hope he lives many more years! Bali is great too, every place I’ve visited/lived has it’s good and bad, having to been to 50 or more countries!
Ray's a top bloke. He lives life to the full, great on the karaoke, he's funny, generous and is simply the best drinking company you could wish for. Great interview lads.
So the title and then I thought what is he doing in the Philippines when he has 6 months left? Now he seems to be enjoying life there and no deadline anymore and that is great. The Philippines also has a positive health effect on people as long as they live healthily.
Hello from CA. Fabulous interview with a great guy! Once had cancer & immediately flew too Borneo. Travel is the best medicine! Looking forward 2 more interviews!
Simon n Ray Many thanks as ever . Also as ever one never knows what's waiting around the next corner. Plus all the very very best for 2024... Cheers Glenn
Another inspiring interview with Ray.Your channel goes from strength to strength . Would like to wish you a happy new year Simon and also Ray an inspiring man. Bye Bye shepherd's pie stay lucky Jim
You are an amazing interviewer👍 It just flows so easy with you with no effort. I’m not a good speaker, so I find the very helpful tips in the way you do them. Apart from that it’s nice to have the glimpse of life of expats prior to their journeys to the Philippines and what they think of the Philippines! Happy new year 🎉
That was a great story and good to see rays still here very lucky man. Can you tell me the town he’s living or the island sounds like a great place I haven’t been there my wife and I are looking for a place to retire thanks again
Hey Simon..what a great story. You seem to have a knack for finding interesting people. Maybe it's the magic of Siquijor. What is the name of that resort that Ray began his stay at there in Siquijor? Im relocating there next year and if I don't find anything better, I'm going to start things at Stella'z if there's a vacancy by then. Another great interview!😊
@@SpeakingofAsia Absolutely no idea. This is pretty much what I said..... Happy New Year everyone 2024. This interview is a lesson to retire ASAP. Don't do the " one more year ", as you may not get one more year. You don't need to be rich, just have enough to be comfortable in retirement. As Gus Lombardo said " enjoy yourself, it's later than you think"
@@ScoreGuru123 Yep. You're never too old to make bad decisions. And then there's the golfer, John Daly, who had bladder cancer four years ago. He's still fat, a smoker and a drinker.

Well done mate, that's great 👍Look foward to meeting you 🍺

I’m sitting here in Sydney watching this video. What a great story to hear that Ray beat Melanoma and he still smokes. Yes the food is better in Bali.

Hi Simon, my comment was deleted, wishing everyone a happy new year 2024 🤷
Happy New Year mate, I don't get this deleting of comments, I'm not doing it so I guess it must be RUclips but why? Very strange 🤔

What's the location called that Ray moved to after Dumaguete? It's hard to hear in the video. Great story btw!

interview is great mate, but the audio is horrendous .... too much traffic noise.... pls do something about it.....
And he’s still smoking????
I think he's a grown adult, and I'm quite sure he's allowed to make his own life decisions
And I’m guessing ur a smoker too. @@ScoreGuru123
