What I’ve learned from my travels from USA to Philippines. My mindset before was I had to do all these things in the USA before I left like update prescriptions BP meds, glasses, dental visits, etc. Buy new clothing etc. Now I realize it’s cheaper to pay for all of that in the Philippines. My money goes much further in Philippines.

Re. The sleep patterns, near the equator daily daylight hours do not vary much throughout the year, generally 12 hours - ish per day. But this varies and of course there is also axial shift n all that good stuff to factor in, so the equator is actually moving….
I was having trouble sleeping.. Body temp def affects sleep ..65 F /18 C is ideal .. Age affects sleep, and def alcohol.. Booze knocks you out, but interferes (don't sleep as deep & you wake up) .. I was a mouth breather .. I trained myself to breath thru my nose by putting a piece of medical tape across my mouth (perpendicular) bedtime (I didn't make the chit up / lot's of research) .. Also, started taking CoQ10, 1000 mg (Cardiologists recommend) .. Been sleeping a lot better .. It's OK / Normal to wake up a couple - few times (older) .. as long as you can get back to sleep .. You need min, 7 hrs, per night .. Very Important ..

Interesting video mate i always think u can live incredibly cheap in the phils depending where u live 16k for rent is crazy 3k to 5k is doable but i guess it depends on your standards u kept the pace pretty good i think your getting better at the interviews for sure. That has certainly been my experience, there are of course some exceptions but as a rule I certainly didn't observe them to be as friendly as in many other places I've visited.
Things I didn't like about the Philippines and I lived there for 11yrs. Barking dogs, Karaoke, Roosters, out of stock sir, pollution, corruption, sorry sir no change, trikes with no mufflers, I will be there at 2 o'clock, but they don't tell you which day and I will leave it at that. I still love the place and if it wasn't for medical issues I would still be living there.
I'm long enough in the tooth to realize that nowhere is perfect. If i can afford it when I retire, I'll do spring/summer in the UK, autumn/winter in the Philippines. I'd miss blighty too much to permanently move.
Wow, live in Dumaguete and spend 600 a week ☺️ I shopt at belcris, eat steak, salmon, etc.. I travel all over. I buy whatever I want, eat whatever Iwant, and I travel wherever I want. That’s what I call RETIREMENT 😌. Kinda gives me the feeling of how the Rich & Famous live. ❤️🙏
i stayed in sipalay in october, it is nice area. Not many tourist and that is what I like. Perth paradise is the resort I stayed in,it was awesome other than the stairs you walk up to the rooms.

I was born in Alberta. I grew up here and continue to live here. Alberta has given me a good life. Lots of good paying rewarding job opportunities here for sure. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty you will do very well here. Get a work pension and retire where ever you want.
Your getting robbed and ripped off and because that's all you've ever known you have no idea it's happening to you. So you're grateful for what you have. But in true reality it's a tragedy.
Alberta is in better shape than where you are most probably. Taxes are high. They always have been mind you. My rent is only 700.00 a month for one bedroom. You can find work easy here in the oilpatch and get by very well. I am in construction now and we are busy here. I can't get time off these days. So it's hard for me to complain.

That includes running her car, my multicab and my bike. We just don't need to spend a lot. I tend to avoid other expats here. Im 45. Nowhere near retirement and not even thinking about it. Well my Thai girlfriend sleeps on average 10 hours a night plus maybe 2 hours during the day. My sleep can be 9 hours or 4 hours a night, no real pattern! I think it depends on the person!

The high rental costs are a result of capitalism. Rents and home ownership in the ex socialist nations of Europe were essentially free, usually about 10% of ones income. Canada, the US and western Europe are all capitalist countries, where housing is owned and controlled by big buisiness - banks and real estate companies, and rent is market driven.

Hello mate, I think the fish varies from day to day, it's very much a "catch of the day" place here. There are a few gym options but the gym at that Siquijor Glamping Village is the best equiped. Hotels seem to range from the $1000 a night range up to $5000. I hope this helps 👍

Going to the markets and cooking at home makes a lot of sense. I went to the fruit stands every morning and that was my breakfast.

I feel similarly. The country I grew up in no longer exists. I began to explore the world, then fell in love in love in Colombia.

Well my Thai girlfriend sleeps on average 10 hours a night plus maybe 2 hours during the day. My sleep can be 9 hours or 4 hours a night, no real pattern! I think it depends on the person!
You're probaly right mate. It's strange though, I'm 52 years old, I've never had trouble sleeping until I arrived in the Philippines.
My experience has been the older you get, the less sleep you get at night. Naps become critical!

The high rental costs are a result of capitalism. Rents and home ownership in the ex socialist nations of Europe were essentially free, usually about 10% of ones income. Canada, the US and western Europe are all capitalist countries, where housing is owned and controlled by big buisiness - banks and real estate companies, and rent is market driven.

Hello mate, I think the fish varies from day to day, it's very much a "catch of the day" place here. There are a few gym options but the gym at that Siquijor Glamping Village is the best equiped. Hotels seem to range from the $1000 a night range up to $5000. I hope this helps 👍
