      I’m glad it’s working out for you. More often than not, you’ll get favorable results with it at all coin denominations. It should also be backed-up by 2 more 1,000 coin reserve bankrolls, just in case the 1st one really “tanks” on a session. If the 1st 1,000 coin bankroll “tanks”. It’s best to leave it at that for the day and then come back on a different day with 2,000 coins. Play a different casino, or a different machine, and play with a 2,000 coin bankroll at a higher denomination than the first one. More than likely, you’ll win back the 1st “tanked” bankroll. But be careful with it.😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  2 года назад

      Perhaps there is a little “video producing fatigue” in the making of this video since I had to invest countless hours getting the music right in the end credits. The music track itself was not long enough to cover the length of the video, so I chopped the music sound track up into multiple sections and re-spliced them together to make a loop out of it to get it as seamless (up to a point) as I could. I make these videos entirely on my iPhone and there is no SMPTE time code to precision edit sound tracks. It’s all done by eye, ear, and touch to synchronize a soundtrack that’s been cut into 10+ pieces and then put them back together again. That 1.25 minutes of music track alone (at the end of the video) took 24 hours to edit to get it “acceptably close” for use in the video. By the time I get around to doing the voice-over, I’m sometimes a little tired especially since I have a self-imposed deadline to meet. I’m trying to produce 10 videos this month. There is actually quite a lot of work and effort that goes into crafting a John’s World of Video Poker production. Thank you for liking my channel and the high regard that I have for production values. And, Yes, the Pterodactyls screeching behind me can be quite annoying at times. Setting the machines to video poker to eliminate that cacophony, sounds like a great idea. I’ll try that!😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

      You’re absolutely right and that was a major error too on my part. I certainly wasn’t giving much thought to the cards on that move! 4 to an open ended straight is certainly a much much stronger play than only 3 cards to a straight flush with a “gap” in it. That was my very 1st outing to make a video in a casino (no tripod & hand held). I was more focused on holding the camera still than anything else. Even in my more recent videos I’ve been making novice mistakes too because I’m not as focused on the cards. So it’s back to simulator practice for me and now that I can use a tripod, I will start to focus more on the cards and strategy than on “making a video”. But for sure that was a real bozo selection on my part!😝 As you will see in my more recent videos, I usually stop the video to highlight and point out my errors so that people learn from my mistakes too. I don’t necessarily point out or catch all the errors because it takes a lot of time to do so. But I try to catch most of them so that people know that I’m not a perfect player by any means. And as a matter of fact, I am quite grateful for your pointing out the errors too because it helps other players (including myself) to “think” about the cards and to work their way through to the correct play. So thank you for that and for any other errors that you may point out in the future. I appreciate your knowledge and accurate insights in your comments that contribute to the greater good of myself and the viewers of this channel. Keep up the great work!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

      @@johnsworldofvideopoker It's my pleasure to learn and watch from your videos and excellent commentary. I might point out, I have learned several important things that have made me a stronger player. Previously, I never gave much thought to switching machines when one starts to run ice cold. I can say for sure, it has saved my session to move to another machine on more than one occasion. Although it doesn't always work, it's better than to watch the thing keep tanking like somebody pulled the floor out from under it. So the probability seems in favor of a move, most of the time, in my opinion. A lot of times a fresh start can rejuvenate a slow payout session.
      You had a SIX more errors in this video 😛! Not to worry, as I know you were mostly focused on holding the camera steady. I'll give you the time stamps and correct play:
      1) 4:32 AK suited. 2) 4:57 7,8,9,T 3) 25:49 3's 4) 25:59 JAT suited 5) 27:46 JK suited 6) 28:32 JQ Continued best of luck and you are my favorite video poker channel by far, so keep the videos rolling like the Royal Flushes!

    Hi John, Great Video - somehow I didn't see this until today. Quick Question - starting with a 1,000 coin bankroll, when can we move up to the next denomonation ? is it when we have 1,000 coin of the new denom ? other ?

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  2 года назад +1

      On a serious session where I intend to put in a real effort to hit the Royal Flush, I always start with a 1,000 coin bankroll of whatever coin denomination that I'm playing. In my experience, (more often than not), a 1,000 coin bankroll allows you to play (without holding back) since it takes a while to vanquish a 1,000 coin bankroll (in most cases). All I'm looking for really, is to see how the "bottom of the pay table" performs (JoB, 2 pair, trips, straights, flushes, & full house). As long as all those are quite regular (especially the 2 pair hand) then I know I can stay on the machine for quite a while. Then all I do is focus on "maintaining the bankroll" long enough as all the 1, 2, 3, & 4, to the Royal combinations pass through until one of them converts into a Royal Flush win. To maintain the bankroll, I may have to lower the denomination to last longer & then step it back up to the original bankroll denomination after a good hit on the lower denomination. Also, if the session starts out with a great hit (4 Aces, Straight Flush, or 1, 2, 3, or 4's), then I'll go to the next denomination above the original starting coin denomination. The Royal may just show-up early on that next higher denomination and you'll be glad that you took the opportunity to "risk" that house money (that you just won right off the bat). If the pair hand keeps rolling you along, I stay on that higher denomination. If I "lose" the house money bankroll, then I step the denomination backdown to the original coin denomination and continue to play. By managing the bankroll in that way, you will in most cases have a bankroll that lasts longer. And hopefully that longevity translates into a Royal Flush win (especially at the higher denominations that you may have switched-up to. If the machine is just raging with good hits, I'll keep upping the coin denomination to the highest coin denomination possible. On serious sessions, I always play on full pay machines (8/5 Bonus Poker) with the most coin denominations on one machine as possible. That means machines that feature: $1, $2, $5, $10, $20 coin denominations or machines that have $25, $50, & $100 coin denominations. You never want to be on a machine that's on a once in a lifetime wild run & you're unable to keep raising the coin denominations. Chances are on wild runs you'll either hit the Royal Flush or rack-up so much money by continually upping the coin denomination that you "don't need the Royal"! Good luck with your play. Please keep me posted on your wins, and where you play.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    No matter what strategy, you cannot beat the house edge long term. Long term can indeed be a very long amount of time, which is why some people can turn in a profit even for what seems a pretty long run. In statistics, there are always the outliers. It's a very different story for most people. Be ready to part with whatever you are gambling with.

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  2 года назад +1

      That being said, a short term positive run could be 10+ years or more as it has been for me & others. I’m not emotionally invested in gambling at all. In fact, I hardly ever go to a casino. If the game “turns on me” (who knows when that will ever happen?) I’ll just continue on with other pursuits that are more important to me anyway; such as mastering guitar, songwriting, writing a book (from my already 3,000 page diary), traveling the world, acquiring my 4th foreign language, translating Latin, dabbling in the stock market, etc. But as long as the game is positive, I’ll keep on playing it. And I wouldn’t be surprised if that lasts a lifetime. By the same token, I could care less if it ended tomorrow. There’s plenty of other adventures and mountains to scale in life. Life itself in all its aspects is a gamble and I intend to live it on the leading edge. Fortune favors the bold.🌎

      @@johnsworldofvideopoker Sounds like you have it figured out. I guess it's important to point out that one should not measure the number of years, but rather the number of hands when talking about longevity. Huge huge difference when you play 4000 hands a week, vs 400 ( as an example). If you limit your play then naturally you will have plenty of losing sessions that you will have to endure until you hit a win streak. Of course, another variable when examining the fabulous wins like $100,000 is how much you are risking. Playing at $25 denom vs $1 can't be compared. Again, my point is people can grind it out for 100k+ hands and not hit any royal (and that is tough on low variance games like JOB). Psychologically, it is very hard to discount losses and people start making bad decisions, which only favors the house.

    Is it really advisable to play 1000 coins of the denom you choose?

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  2 года назад +3

      If you’re a seasoned player of your specific game and well-practiced on a simulator that “warns on mistakes”, then 1,000 coins (in my experience with 8/5 Bonus Poker) has been enough coinage to see wether or not the game is rolling along well enough to make a go of things. The 1,000 coin minimum is usually (though not always) enough coins to survive the minor ups & downs in volatility before something good hits, such as: multiple full houses, or quads, or a straight flush, or even a Royal Flush. As a player, it is up to you to know, wether or not, the session is going well enough to surge ahead (with good or great hands) or to retreat, or lower the coin denomination, or to cash-out (if it’s not going well) before you lose your entire bankroll. I have hit 17 Royal Flushes in under 20 minutes or less using 1,000 coins. When that simultaneously occurs on high coin denominations, you can walk away with big money. It’s not a guarantee of course, (because it can go the other way too), but at least 1,000 coins will give you a fighting chance. It’s up to you to adjust this initial bankroll (up or down) according to your own skill level in: managing your bankroll, being able to properly determine card selection, and the suitability of game choice (low volatility). If 1,000 coins seems like a big risk to you, then that’s ok, just go to a lower coin denomination to where you feel that 1,000 coins is not risky. I’m as comfortable playing 1,000 coins on a 50¢ coin denomination as I would be with a 1,000 coins on a $50 coin denomination. The odds are the same either way, but the scale of the win would be 100X larger in this example. Try it at a lower coin denomination in which you feel comfortable with the 1,000 coins. One caveat: if you’re not well practiced on a simulator to minimize your errors, then you could be throwing your money away and may require an even larger number of coins to off-set poor play. Practice, Practice, Practice. Practice at home & Win in the casino.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  2 года назад +1

      Great question and you reminded me of something that I left out. You’ll need two 1,000 coin “backup bankrolls” played on an even higher denomination (usually) to get back to “even” should your 1st 1,000 coin bankroll “tank” and go right down the drain. If hop around from machine to machine on 8/5 BP until I find one that is rolling along. It the 1,000 coin bankroll stays relatively even for a long time, I won’t leave the machine until I hit the Royal (even if that means playing 12 hours straight on the same machine!). Why leave a machine that’s NOT taking your bankroll away from you? It’s only a matter of time if it’s staying relatively even before enough Royal Flush combinations pass through and one of them converts. I’m willing to risk that entire 1,000 coin bankroll to ruin. But a lot of times it’ll have a few good hits that it gets me back to the same 1,000 coins that I started with so that I can keep playing. So I continue on. If I lose that 1,000 coin bankroll, I quit for the day, go practice on a simulator a bit, sleep on it, and then when I’m ready, I go at it again the next day or week later with another 1,000 coins but of a higher denomination to “win back” that 1st 1,000 coin bankroll that was played at a lower denomination. That’s why you’ll need 3 “reserve bankrolls” to survive the swings (volatility).

So I cashed out the $400, then decided that I would put the $400 back in, except this time, I would switch to the $1 coin denomination and hope for a lucky hit. I had no intention of filming it, but when the 4 Aces hit, I quickly grabbed the phone to film whatever I could of that hit. (I was probably down $60 or so when it hit). So I continued filming at that point a little. It only ended up in the video because of the 4 Aces hit, otherwise, it never would’ve been shown in the video. Thank you for your comment.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    John, I have a lot of respect for both you and Andrew. I watched the videos for a greater insight into the success you and Andrew have enjoyed. One of the key takeaways is the ability to move up demon when playing with the houses money. A player can have adequate bankroll, knowledge of the game, and discipline; but if you don't "take a shot" your success will be limited. I am a conservative, analytical, and a "grind it out" type of player. From my perspective "taking a shot" is relying too much on the variable of "luck." A player is giving up a lot of control in order to "take a shot." I would feel better about moving up in demon if there was backstops in place such as a loss rebate. Again, because of the element of luck there is no road map that I can follow to duplicate this type of success. One analogy is an individual has reached financial independence with an asset allocation of 50% equity and 50% fixed income. While another individual has also reached financial independence, but with an asset allocation of 100% equity. The fist individual has the mindset he doesn't need to take on unnecessary risk with the understanding he is leaving "money on the table". The second individual has the mindset even if the stock market has a significant drawdown, he will still have financial independence. In the long run the second individual will probably achieve a greater degree of wealth It's a matter of one's point of view.

      Bonus Poker is not a game of giant thrills or deep lows. It’s largely steady as she goes. However, it can be quite thrilling on very high denomination coins such as $25, $50, & $100 coins. • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  2 года назад +3

      Thank you for your appreciation of the details, Kerry. Video poker is definitely a game that requires thought, as well as, experience. For those that use a simulator that “warns on mistakes” the game becomes much easier and more “tamable” so to speak. I am primarily an 8/5 Bonus Poker player since it has yielded the best results for me. However, I do “retreat” to 9/6 JOB if I’m in a cold-streak while I’m playing Bonus Poker. Then again, if the going is good on either of those 2 games and I’m up on them, I’ll quickly resort to Bonus Poker Deluxe (mid-stream) and play with house money for the 400 coin hit on any Quad. That is something that Slotmassacre has repeatedly shown me and man does it work well. By the same token, I’ll then go further with 9/6 Double Double Bonus for the better Quad hits and the hits with kickers, of course. I’m familiar with Triple Double Bonus enough to leave it alone since it is so volatile (5X the volatility of Bonus Poker), but I have seen some amazing hits on it by Slotmassacre, our buddy Curtis, and by others. Lately, I’ve taken an interest in Super Aces type games, but I need a little more familiarity with them before I go hard on them in the casino. I’m a “Collector” of Royal Flushes due to my penchant for Bonus Poker. If you play “sloppy near-perfect” strategy on BP, you can expect to hit a lot of them, and I do. My “go to” denomination is $2 Coin play for starters with a quick switch to $5 & $10 Coins if it’s going well. But I’ve played $25 Coin too and a little $50 coin. I aspire to be a regular $25 & $50 Coin player in the coming year, but I am conservative in my approach, so I have to “build a bankroll” from house money before I can “settle-in” at those levels. However, if the machine is rolling along, I am fearless at any coin denomination. I’ll jump right to $100 Coin without blinking an eye (and stay there) if the situation warrants it. And yes, I’m a huge fan of Slotmassacre too! Without him, there’d be no John’s World Of Video Poker. I’m grateful for your interest in my channel. Thank you!🌎

I gave a few pointers to a Vegas local (who’s already a sharp player) and he hit a Royal with me sitting right next to him and it wouldn’t have happened without the 1,000 Coin minimum rule that I shared with him. He then hit another Royal the week following, agin with the 1,000 Coin minimum. When to cut your losses is very subjective and depends on a lot of variables. I don’t consider myself (or anyone in any field) an “expert” as I feel no one can possibly know everything about anything. (Look how many times all the so called “experts” in our our society have been wrong on so many things). Let’s just call it “good enough” to share the journey with others to show what’s “possible”. As for your “challenge”, that wouldn’t “prove” a thing. I could have 10 “off the wall incredible” wins in a row or I could tank 10X in a row or any mixture of the two; a sample size of 10 sessions proves absolutely nothing either way. And neither winning all 10 (or tanking all 10) would stop me from playing. That’s the volatility of the game which will always be there. ANYTHING can happen in the “short term” for anybody, good or bad. In the long term (because of the house edge) we all ultimately will lose. But long term could be 1,000 years stretched to infinity. By the same token, short term wins could last 10 years or more as mine has. I hope that “short term win cycle” lasts an additional 20 years (not just 10 sessions) and you’re welcome to view it all here, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Good luck to you in both the short term and the long term.

      Thank you,Tim, for watching and for what appears to be a mutual liking and understanding of the power of simple 8/5 Bonus Poker. It is my “go to game” and I love it. Bonus Poker has been extremely kind to me over the years. I’m sure too that others have had similar experiences for their game of choice such as DDB & TDB, but Bonus Poker is such a workhorse for the player. It is a most noble and cherished game to me. I will always love it. That being said, I recognize the appeal and potential of other games and will feature them in my play as well. Multi-line games have ardent adherents and I would love for one of those players to show me the ropes on those games because I’m probably missing out! In 90 days, I hope to feature a lot of exciting video poker content from all the games. I am open to them all, but there’s no doubt that Bonus Poker will feed you for life. Love it!♥️🌎

      “Grinding” the most accurate description of video poker in one word!🌎

    You threw away the entire hand when you had 789T. Is this a joke? You’re playing awful.

      Yes, those were my early videos and I was so nervous about actually making a RUclips video that I really wasn’t focused on the strategy. I’m the 1st person to admit my errors on my play so that others don’t go down the same road. In fact, I highlight my errors for all to see. Of course, there’s NEVER been a player who hasn’t, doesn’t or won’t make errors. There’s 2,598,690 possible hands in video poker and only a computer gets it right every time. But I agree with you, sloppy play is no way to conduct a video poker session. The beauty of video poker is that perfect play doesn’t guarantee a winning session, just as imperfect play doesn’t prevent a player from having a winning session. A player can hold the correct cards and hit a Royal, a player can hold the incorrect cards and hit a Royal, and a player can hold no cards and hit a Royal. Nonetheless, I have won close to $500,000 in Royal Flushes over the last 10 years of playing. If you watch my video with the $100,000 Royal Flush, you’ll find that on that night I hit 3 Royals in 3 hours for a total of $110,000 off of a single $100 Bill that I had won off of $15 in free play from a few weeks week before.😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    Hey John nice session. Looks like you have a similar style to Andrew. Might have to try that myself. Didn't know they have progressives at Pechanga. I've had lots of luck on TDB and DDB although have never hit a Royal at Pechanga or Pala unless you count the non IGT machines of long ago. It seems my hand is Awk and 2-4/k. Hit a 2wk on TDB on the 15th🤠 Hit a bunch of Royals at Pauma years ago when their machines were full pay. Been playing in that region for twenty plus years. Anyhow best of luck on your new venture

      Andrew & I are very similar in our approach to the games, although he is much more well-versed in all the games than I am. He’s very level-headed, shrewd, and deliberate. He is a daredevil with his penchant for high volatility games (TDB, TTB, STBP) but he knows how to win with it, do more power to him and to all who love those games. It sure makes for thrilling play!🌎
