I'm so grateful you're sharing your experience! I start with my cohort on Monday 🙏 And I will definitely be aiming for "blue" because, for some reason, I feel training is calling to me 😅
I'll be following your journey! I finished my technical evaluation and now I have a phone call on the 28th with a senior recruiter discussing more details. The ONLY thing that makes me nervous would be relocating :/ All my family is in Michigan and I don't know if I could be without them for 2+ years.
I am currently in the process of maybe joining with them. And no you do not have any control over where you get sent. You have to be willing to move anywhere in the USA aside from Hawaii and Alaska if they get you a job there. They do have certain states where they have no jobs so
I have a couple questions! :) This is in response to what one of the other comments mentioned: 1. Are those people that are brand new to this field struggling? -I have no experience and am from the medical field, but I am very interested in working with revature. I want to apply soon but I have heard how intense the training is and want to make sure I can keep up! 2. Is it helpful working in groups/cohorts? Or are there people who have more experience and “carry” the team taking away from your learning? I’m sorry for all the specific questions I’m just so curious. Thank you SO MUCH for making these videos it is so helpful to see insight to something I am wanting to do. Please keep updating us. Bless
hey jimbob! these are great questions! so i think my cohort was about 50/50 on people who had experience and didn't. those who are 100% fresh to tech and coding, seemed to have kept up just fine. it's important to ask questions and communicate with both your trainer and your peers. working in groups is definitely helpful for the tech newbies. how it all works out depends on the different personalities but what i typically saw was everyone supporting each other and making sure each person gets what they need to.
yay glad to see you're back :) Thanks for the info and tips. Are there any people there that are new to the computer science world? or is everyone pretty much on the same kind of level as each other?
we're all at different levels. some have cs degrees, others (like myself) have dabbled. and there are some who are completely new and have never written a line of code before joining revature.
It seems like a good program. To me it seems like teach for america (for IT) The only program I have is the fact they can place you anywhere after training. Also if you break your contact you have to pay back all that money.
take your time, weigh your options, do all your research. i think revature is a solid option IF it works for your situation. but there are many many paths to take. so do what works for YOU! :)
I have my final interview in two hours, I have no excuse to not be able to keep up with the coursework. I look forward to giving it a chance.
good luck! i'm sure you will do well! (:
Can you choose witch technology you want to learn or the trainer choose for you ?
you don't get to choose. revature chooses for you based on what clients need.
@@childlikekait Good, thank you, what training option you had?
Is the training still remote?
as far as i know, yes, they are still training new associates remotely.
@@childlikekait they are : ) thanks for the update video. I’ve gotten an offer to start but I’m not sure if I want to do it.
do they have a location in los Angeles?
revature does not have an office in los angeles. i'm not sure if they have clients who are based in los angeles.
Does the training take place remotely?
my training took place 100% remotely. i'm unsure if this will change in the future as the situation with covid evolves.
So many colors, lol. I’m glad you made this video and that you’re back!!!!!!

Same here. Is your training starts from 7th of March?
i understand not wanting to be away from family; it's not easy! but that 2 years will fly by! good luck!
I have two main questions:
1. How long is this training supposed to last?
2. Do you have any control over where they send you (state wise that is)?
I am currently in the process of maybe joining with them. And no you do not have any control over where you get sent. You have to be willing to move anywhere in the USA aside from Hawaii and Alaska if they get you a job there. They do have certain states where they have no jobs so
the training lasts 10-12 weeks, depending on your stack. you do not have control over where you go nor what company you work for.
Did they provide a computer, or you had to use your own?
you have to provide your own computer.
I’m looking into this but was wanting to know if it’s standard for them to send a technical assessment before accepting you?
yes, that is standard. they want to see where you are technically before accepting/placing you into a cohort.
Hi do they offer front end web dev roadmap. Or is it only software development?
my particular training was full stack dev. so front end was included in my tech stack.
Seems like so much to learn in such a short period of time
it is a lot!

@@childlikekait thank you for the information! :)
Thank you for sharing!
wow great experience. thank you for sharing...
Did you read the contract before joining revature? It's really awful...
i did! in its entirety. 2-3x.
i personally didn't find any issues with it. it was fine for me and my situation so i moved forward and signed it!
Are you in the Java-React Batch? I started January 3rd, so crazy I saw this recommended. Hope everything is going well! Best of luck to you!
