    Matt has the best running form ever. I wish I could look this smooth as I run. Maybe one day 😂

    I love Kelly's input on your sessions. The voice of encouragement and reason! What I'd bear in mind is you were running solo on a windy day but in London you'll have a lot more company. Even if you had Andy with you, you'd have found a bit more draft but with a group, that session would've been worth 5 with company. We runners are irrational beings and even though we get the ides of drafting, we can't quite shake the idea we should just automatically be able to run a given pace or a given distance solo. Good luck in London!

    #1 quality of a good runner, flexibility (in training plan)!
    Best to walk away mid-3/4 of a hard training session without injuries and good spirits. Building on for the next one…👊

    Well done, when the wind is strong I have no qualms in reducing my pace by 5" or 10". Definitely will today with what's brewing.

      Yeah I agree. I was slowing for the worse bit and trying to make it up on the other side of the loop but you never quite get back what you lose. Good luck out there today. It’s pretty wild here.

    Well done Matt. I see your 5K race last week shows the general fitness much be there or thereabouts. Did the Stryd data tell you anything in such windy conditions? Logically it ought to effectively say the average pace would be slower but the effort about the same. That said doing loops on windy conditions are always going to make running feel "harder" than otherwise.

    • @TheWelshRunner
      @TheWelshRunner  Год назад +3

      Yeah I’ve since done 25km with no floats faster than this session so I’m not too far off. 5K was decent a couple of days after that run too.
      Yeah power didn’t vary that much but pace was very different at different parts of the loop. I wasn’t looking at Stryd at the time and was just trying to push to the right effort but probably pushed a little too hard on the day but a good training effect.

    4 - 3 k’s are good. You shouldn’t wear yourself out in TRAINING you should save that for the REAL RACE. Running into the headwind did you a lot of good in terms of strength training.Bravo looking good.

    Still not sure about switching shoes from something that's not broken in the nike's when your still chasing a now pb that's pretty special in the club runner real world . I think you proved a lot of people wrong in Valencia that follow you, so London will be interesting. Ian

      @@AlexM-hm2wb You don't say. I was questioning if just because Stephen scullion and some top female marathon runners that are also Sponsored by U Armour are using them, are these shoes yet proven competitors to the shoes he used in this last marathon ! ?. Years ago I got to test racing flats but stuck with what worked for me. Ian ps I truly hope he pb's

      It would look prettier but it would have such a negligible difference to my running. My running economy has been tested and is good. I think many runners obsess a little too much on small things when the fundamentals are far more important. I still need to nail my fundamentals first.
