As Donald Trump is criticised from both Democrats and Republicans for saying that laws around abortion should be left to the individual states, what is the opposition to Federal decision making really about, and is in an increasingly polarised country is it possible that decentralising power could unite the Nation?

@@bruv1039 My point is that prolife supporters who want to eliminate abortion for others are frequently unaware of reasons for late term abortions. It’s a big gap because it doesn’t fit their idea that every baby is worth saving. They seem to think a heartbeat indicates that person is alive but that’s not a good definition. Terri Shavo was brain dead for years, with a heartbeat she must be kept alive. Babies are not all born healthy and if there’s a deformity decisions can be made to let the baby die in comfort.
I used to visit state homes that housed people for decades. No family visits, but no communication was possible anyway in some cases.

The Constitution does say that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process in the 14th amendment. Sadly, the amendment then went on to distinguish between persons and citizens, leading the abortion lobby to claim that you have to be BORN to be entitled to due process. They're forgetting the rest. Born IN THE US makes you a citizen. So if they're going to glom onto "born," they need to include "in the United States" and concede that all immigrants, tourists, and other foreign nationals can be deprived of life, liberty, and property without due process.

Its possible to be pro-life and pro-choice simultaneously. If you want an abortion for yourself, go get one. If you dont want one for yourself, then don't. Why force somone else to not have the ability to decide that for themselves?
Disagreeing with another person and prohibiting them from making their own choices is anti-freedom and anti-life. Do you like when others tell you what you can and can't do?
As a man, I don't have to deal with the moral dilemma of abortion for my own body. The decision to do so is between me and the pregnant mother. However, respecting the pregnant mother she has more of a say on the decision. I won't force the mother to make a decision she doesn't want. The decision to do so should be worked out between the two persons and not infringed upon by others who wouldn't have to deal with the outcomes.
The State benefits from the political division of this false dichotomy and ultimately has the power to enforce rules on its subjects. By framing a personal choice as a societal choice, we just argue with each other and let the state control us by making laws to punish us for making decisions for ourselves. She is now a maths teacher at secondary school and married with 4 lovelychildrenof her own. My friends had abortions and they all suffered from emotional distress afterwards. They became depressed and struggled with the guilt at ending the life of their baby. There is no reason why a human being should kill an innocent child growing in the womb. That child is an innocent victim of the circumstances in which it finds itself. A women can be bullied, manipulated, by those around her to go through with an abortion. Similarly, women are not shown how well developed the baby is and this has been deliberately done by our controlled media. Most women would not choose abortion. Goodbye, abortion. The only women signing up would be those who know it's a baby, have all the resources they need, and still want the baby dead. We live in 2024, there are so many ways to not get pregnant. But we live in a time people don't have to take responsibilty of their own lives and actions. Many unwanted pregnacies happen after a night of binge drinking and doing the dance without pants with someone they met that evening.
You know what, don't drink too much, so you know what you are doing and don't get needlessly pregnant. It is not that hard to use your brain.
If you are ill or raped is a different story, but 95% or more of abortions didn't need to happen, if they were just careful. If too many motor cyclists get hurt for wearing no helmet, what do we do? We demand they wear one. We can demand more from people, why do we have to pay for people who are selfish and careless and make laws so they can just go on, without consequences?
