Makes sense. It's okay to maintain communication with an addicted love one, but within boundaries that protect us and allow them to experience the consequences of their addiction.

My son is in recovery now. I am learning a lot about myself as we work through this. I did not realize how I was not helping by bailing him out when ever shit hit the fan as the day. We have a long haul. I bought the book at I am reading while Adam is in recovery.

Yes true, the day I stopped wrestling with an addicted loved one ( as in pushing ) was the day there was not the push back, their voice & experience, in due course they stopped by their own choice… may not always be the case but gives them the power of free choice

Dancing rather than wrestling with them is such a good tip.

Some of my question is it an enabling somebody if you keep letting them in your house around there kid that they have but there are never really around for their kid cuz they're too busy running back to their drugs and being a hooker. And then the kid is mad at the mom all the time and she keeps going to jail for a bunch of bad things such as breaking and entering and stuff and prostitution. She recently lost her mom and she has a bad addiction to crack and meth says she wants help but her actions do the opposite because she'll come and stay for a day or two and then run right back to what she's doing again. And hates me because I don't agree with what she does and I don't think helping her and letting her stay the night helps her when she's just going to run right back to doing what she wants which is drugs. And she is already lost one kid to DHS. How do you help someone like that? She hasn't shown her face in a while but she will when she gets rock bottom. she's not really my friend but I'm sick of seeing her do this to her daughter. and she has some really bad bipolar issues but she doesn't want to get help with anything.
