Our purpose here at Brick House Recovery is to provide hope to everyone who is dealing with addiction in any capacity.
We chose the name “Brick House Recovery” in order to reflect a specific idea. We believe that a healthy, sober lifestyle is built much like a house: from the ground up. This is the same idea we have for each one of our viewers. We only ask that you invest in the PROCESS of recovery. As we say in the rooms of recovery. It's about PROGRESS not perfection!

The Lord used this song to touch my hardened heart at a time where I was spiritually anorexic. I’m so grateful for the experience I had that changed my life with this song. #recoveryjourney #addictionrecovery #recoveryresources #addictionawareness #substanceabusetreatment #addictionsupport #compassionatesupport

"Individuality vs. Authority" ~ Get Unhooked for Families Feb 4th, 2021
My brother is 29 years old who doesn’t want to work, wants to stay in bed all day. His routine so far is sleep late drink wakes up late eats and go goes back to bed sleeps. He has access to wifi, food. Everything. He Currently lives with my parents. My mother always talks to him with love and explains how it’s affecting his health. He says he’s fine that he just needs to find a job. This has been happening for a year and half now. Everytime he finds money he goes and buys alcohol. Even when he doesn’t have money he finds a way to get more. At this point we don’t know what to do with him it’s frustrating. If it wasn’t because of my caring parents he would be homeless by now. At this point what else can we even do?
Hey Melvindeleon10, that sounds like a lot to be dealing with. We are sorry to hear your family is going through this. you can call our admissions team at 208-650-7359. Of course, he has to be at a place where he is willing to make the change. We have many other videos you can check out that might be helpful to you and your family.
I'm so angry about this subject. So proud of your parents (even though I don't even know them)Thank U for sharing.
My father is an alcoholic, what should I do 😭😭
We're so sorry to hear that, you can reach out to local resources for treatment near you, if your dada is willing. We have many more videos that might be more helpful or you as well. Please let us know if we can be more helpful
I really needed to hear this!
First time watching. I found your channel very interesting and helpful. Looking forward to some more content👍
Thank you CharnayKhan-mh9ip. We are glad this found you in the right time.
thankyou for this content, it is helping me to learn how to promote recovery to my 23 year old son who lives with his mother and I.
Thank you TheAy7531. We apricate your feedback, please let us know if we can help you.
As difficult as it is, I'm an addict myself and the best thing that happened to me was all the doors closing. I also learned this in al anon. It's detachment. It is not easy. But doable ❤
im 22 year old man and had a problem whit alcohol since 18, started drinking on the weekend when i was 17. relapsed for a week long bender after a month of sobriety. feeling sick and tired of this. i have commit this time to sobriety.
Thank you for everything ❤❤
So glad to find this ! I am struggling.
Tell him to buy from a reliable person, that you'll always be there on drugs or not. Remind him that addiction is a complete fabrication and he can stop whenever he wants
You mean "Shit House" Recovery??? This enabling malarkey tears families apart. Using drugs is a completely normal human behaviour . You should stop enabling Drug Prohibition. Too much cash involved????
Yes true, the day I stopped wrestling with an addicted loved one ( as in pushing ) was the day there was not the push back, their voice & experience, in due course they stopped by their own choice… may not always be the case but gives them the power of free choice
Makes sense. It's okay to maintain communication with an addicted love one, but within boundaries that protect us and allow them to experience the consequences of their addiction.
That is interesting that we're supposed to be honest. I thought that I was not supposed to express my feelings because that would contribute to their guilt and make them feel worse. Thank you for this wonderful set of advice.
Excellent

Thanks Jason. Hope you're doing well in 2024.

Hey Santoshvaid7565, you can call our admissions team at (208)-607-8395.
This showed this morning after my wife and I had another talk on where we were to go with this very issue. Wonderful segment thank you so much. We will go through more segments.
Thank you so much Websterlee7708
Thank you for making this video...truly helpful
We are so glad it was able to help you!
Thank you I’m trying to help my parents with their addiction. As a teenager it’s really hard to build that trust and a relationship where they will believe you.
Your a strong person Simpfordaichi. Keep your head up, and make sure to take care of yourself too
I needed to hear this, thank you
Thank you!
great story especially for us moms!
Jesus loves you
As always, thank you Jason. Enjoying reading Unhooked! I'm learning a lot
Thank you! It really is an amazing book, I'm glad it is helping you and teaching you new things!
Thanks for today's tip Jason. This is a huge challenge for sure. It's hard to let go and allow those around you to make that journey themselves, but logically you know you can't do people's recovery for them, they have to do it themselves
10000% it's hard, but we can only do so much.
You can't rescue someone from their own trauma
Thanks for this Jason. I'm reading through Unhooked now 🙏 might give it to my loved one to read too when I'm done
I don’t know how to dance…
Keep it up bro
I needed this today. My loved one relapsed this week. Is a relapse a break in sobriety? I am struggling about how to tell them that I know, because they don't know that I know and the lack of honesty scares me.
Everyone's path to recovery is diffrent, if confronting your loved one, make sure it comes from a place of love and compassion. Never forget to take care of yourself too, and make sure that you are taken care of.
@@brickhouserecoverytv6668 thank you. I want to confront them sooner rather than later because I don't want them to fall off of the recovery path. They were doing so great. I'm not disappointed in them but I am sad they feel like they can't come to me and be open and honest that they relapsed.
My older brother has cirrhosis…he has been to rehab 5 times all paid by our father but it’s never worked he’d go back to drinking. Just 3 weeks ago, his wife finally kicked him out of their place after he refused to help her pay the mortgage and spend his money buying alcohol. He had my cousin drive him 433miles to my parent’s house because no one wanted him at their place….now he is at home with no job but he somehow buying alcohol and getting drunk everyday at the house, my father doesn’t know what to do with him. He refuses to believe he has cirrhosis and keeps trying to schedule appointments with different doctors just to be told the same thing. My brother says it’s from my father abandoning him after he got married to my mother, dad didn’t abandoned him, his mom took him away from dad and wouldn’t let him see my brother. My mother left my older brother in a different country just to come to America and yet my brother never felt abandoned and he doesn’t even drink and him and my mom are very close. We told my brother that we will send him to rehab if he wants to be helped but if it fails again then we will have no choice but to kick him out into the streets..both my parents are old and retired and they can’t be taking care of care of him forever he is 45years old and no one in the entire family wants him…..if my boyfriend agrees, we could let him stay with us but he’d need to get a job and have his paycheck given to us so he won’t use any of that money to buy alcohol…we’d send the check to his wife to help with their kids
First, I want to thank you for taking the time to share your story and be vulnerable. Its hard, especially when you are close to someone struggling. There are so many things that you guys can do to help yourselves in this time of need. Maybe see if you want to attend a Alanon meeting, or even check out the book Jason wrote, its called "Unhooked." I have attatched a link below. www.amazon.com/Unhooked-Help-Addicted-Love-Recover/dp/1941555403/ref=asc_df_1941555403/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=344057892690&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11703934487787118996&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1016202&hvtargid=pla-762031622092&psc=1&mcid=df4bdc8b790f39b5a3c1c35d178577d9&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=69543896552&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=344057892690&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11703934487787118996&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1016202&hvtargid=pla-762031622092&gclid=CjwKCAiArfauBhApEiwAeoB7qLQWcwH9eNf93DfnAsH4PYJKrx1AHO2WTzIuRzvFJEta2-wHMIOZbhoC3twQAvD_BwE

Do you have tips for encouraging this feeling? My loved one is very down on himself
encourage them with positive words, and focus on attributes, I know for me "I like when you do this ..." or "I apricate you for ..." really help me.
Thanks for sharing! Empathy is powerful 🙏 another thing to consider is how empathy is different than sympathy which is something I think a lot of people struggle with
I would agree, that is such a commonly misunderstood thing! Thank you for your feedback
My loved one is starting again to get sober. I am also starting therapy to help me learn how to say no. I am struggling a lot to be able to say no. I am scared but i am hopeful.
You are a strong person, just remember, you are never alone. We always say the opposite of addiction is connection, so stay connected(:
Awesome information
