I pitched from little league to highschool and at age 13 I played travel baseball for coaches that played college or pro. But I also threw left-handed as well but you are taught as a pitcher to create a 45 degree angle from first base to the dugout. But also his right foot cannot go past the pitching rubber or throw to first while stepping towards home plate. Now in the majors there are some lefties that has perfected this pickoff move and Andy Petite was probably the best that I have seen to do this pickoff move. Now also as pitchers you are taught to lull the base runners to sleep and make the runner think that the pitcher has forgotten about the runner. There are times where pitchers are not throwing to first to pick off the runner they do it so that the runners can't get a big lead. Because when you make the runner get a short lead well then you might get a double play out of it. So that's what you are taught as a pitcher
I think you were the one that told us that the scouting report on the Yankees was that they were “talent over fundamentals” and players were instructed ti play fundamentally solid and with fir them to shoot themselves in the foot.
For once, I see outfielders crashing. I love 'don't come back to the dugout, go wait in the parking lot". 😅 I did get picked off at third after hitting a triple. The old 3rd baseman playing back tip the cap to the pitcher, back door pick. Like the only time in my career I ever got picked off. I was so embarrassed. After I back spinned a high fastball of the top of the wall.
Amazing content as always matt. I think I hear a bird chirping in the back 😂
