I enjoyed watching RAJINIKANTH Sir as a con man & the other one as Hairstylist in the Modern Saloon beauty parlour. Thanks for taking me to the sweet old memories. According to Wikipedia, "The title JOHNNY gave an impression of a full packed Action commercial entertainer hence it disappointed the Audiences in the first 2 weeks. Because during that Era the Actor had been frequently playing Action genre movies like BILLA, ANBUKKU NAN ADIMAI, KAALI, NAN POTTA SAVAAL. Later critics appreciated the intense acting of RAJINI & SRIDEVI, ILAIYARAJA's ear pleasing songs, Director MAHENDRAN's skillful direction. It picked up in the 3rd week & declared as a SUPER HIT & successfully completed a theatrical run of more than 100 days". 🏆
Best movie loved Sridevi Rajini love portion. In a repeat mode. Rajini swag and style never comparable and 80kids are blessed to enjoy such a movie in theatre.
90d kid here. Watched this only when I was about 15. One of my first few 80s film alongside Nayagan, Mouna Raagam and Moondram Pirai. Fell in love with the songs and pleasantly surprised by Rajini sir’s acting talent (he is so underrated). Fond memories of humming to the songs especially the climax song while preparing for final exams. Above all, I was mesmerised by Sridevi’s acting. This and moondram Pirai! What an extraordinary talent she is! Rip to the og lady superstar😪

But how can a heroine be so innocent and dumb to the level of beliveing someone even after the news has been published in newspaper..for movie it feels okay as it cast rajini and sridevi..for instance if its a common women ,ppl will accuse the women for being brainless for believing a guy who is claimed to be a murderer..what if the other person acting will change as jhonny and keeps acting using her ?? Heroine character needs innocence but potraying women as soft but brainless is not good to show..even in 80s women are intelligent enough to know whom they are loving..any women will question about his where abouts or what he is doing or ask him to prove his innocence and will not agree to stay with her as its not safety for her..but as always i have my classic alltime fav songs en vanile and katril endhan geetham and the love proposal was too cute to watch..remaining were too boring to watch
