Congrats on the Acura! I am one of the very few people in the United.S that actually has a black on black 1994 GS 6spd sedan. I hope you will love your car just as much as I do mine.
ETCG1 yup I bought it from my brother for $4000 and he fully rebuilt the engine before he sold it to me! took me 2 years to pay it off but man am I happy with what I have. The only problem with the car is that the synchros are going out in the transmission and they need to be replaced. but that will be done later down the line. anyways you should probably check out the Acura Legend owners and enthusiasts page on Facebook, there is a lot of resources on there and people who can hook you up with hard to find parts
I saw this comment as if I wrote it. Lol. My wife doesn't just get confused, but irritated with me every time I spot one on the road. I just can't help myself. 😊
This is the style of car I've always been in love with. My inner 90's spirit starts kicking in. I enjoy your videos ETCG, hope you stick around for a long time!
Just saw a really clean original looking Legend coupe yesterday and did a double take. What a beautifully designed car these are. This just popped up on my feed today purely by chance so I had to watch
in my senior year in high school year i had a 4 door pearl white one in mint condition. It came to me from a g from new york. (should of made a copy of the title). When cleaning it i found gunshot shells, 9mm bullets, like $50 dollars worth in change on the floor by the driver seat. 217k miles. The driver seat was a bit worn but not bad. The other seats were like new. Drove it to 270k milles and a friend totaled it. Real sad day. That car was a true Legend. I've had different, much newer, luxury cars since then and they have all had something wrong with them. You sir, got a sub. You know more things about me than this car and i went over the dealer manual for my car lol
Damn it Eric! You're making me miss my old Legends. Yes, I said Legends as in plural. 87 sedan with an auto, 89 coupe with a 5 speed, 93 LS coupe with an auto, 94 LS coupe 6 speed like yours, and a 95 GS sedan with a 6 speed.
I had a black on black 1995 GS 6 speed. The rarest of rare. Was my first car at 16. Was $3k. Had the classic seeping/blown headgasket. Did the 3.5 RL swap. Sold it for 6k in like 2008.
Your an inspiration to all of us Eric. You eat sleep and breathe you're work, as do the rest of us who love what we do. ..just can't get enough! Keep it up!!
Those cars are engineered so well , the power, braking, and steering work in unison like no other. Had mine for 11 years and sold it for nearly what I payed for it , great car
Very nice! The potential is here for one of the best examples around, especially because there’s no rust. Redoing the seats, restoring the paint, and getting rid of the hail damage will do wonders for this beauty. Congrats on your purchase!
b286guy , No doubt. If there would only be a body shop to get involved with Eric, this could be the genesis of a widely followed restoration video playlist.
That thing is loaded to the gills with all the F*ucking frills ha soft close doors that's wild ! I love the memory seats my girlfriend is 4'8 and I'm 6'4 it's a nightmare driving after her lol Nice find Eric nice clean car 👍
Good job keeping the classics alive, your legend reminds me of my 91 Integra that my mom got for me as a first car which is parked in my garage while my 10’ Yukon Denali sits outside in the snow. Much respect as your guidance helps me while I do my small car flipping operation while I go to school. Keep it up
Nice find. Love the rear roll down quarter windows. 6 speed was cutting edge at the time. Dont know why honda did away with those seats, the side bolster seats looks very supportive.
Had a 94 coupe, type II engine, 6 spd also. Best car I ever owned. Bought it new, ran it to 217,000, sold it for $3,500 in 2007. Should have kept it! Interior was the same color and in perfect condition. Leather had almost zero wear. Always maintained by Acura, except oil changes. Loved the sound the engine made!
Thats the way it was on my 01 Accord Coupe. Drivers side was power but passenger was manual so just the passenger side would slide forward when you flipped the back up. Man I miss that car and this one reminds me of it even down to the drivers seat side bolster wearing out. This is a very clean car, good find.
Nothing screams 1990s like a motorized radio antenna. :-) Nice car though - Honda really did a great job in this era. By modern standards, of course, it’s not fast - but like you said, it’s acceptable even today. And back then, it was pretty darn powerful for the price. Acura was still trying to make a name for themselves back then - they definitely pushed the envelope a bit more than they do today. I’m really looking forward to your future videos with this car.
Oh, yeah, no doubt -- power antennas were available in the '80s and even the '70s, I believe. But they got *really* popular in the '90s -- seemed like *every* car had them in the '90s. Then in the 2000s, they just disappeared. Gone, poof, bye-bye.
Very nice car, Eric, great find. Amazing to see no rust whatsoever. The attention to detail back then was everything with the Jap cars. I once owned a 1985 Mitsubishi Galant - it was years ahead of most other cars on the UK roads. Inside it was extremely quiet and relaxing to drive - your average Ford, Opel, VW or even BMW felt like a noisy tank compared to it. Sadly standards must have slipped over the years, because many years later i bought a 1999 Galant - i was disappointed with how average it felt.
Oh, interesting that you bring up the mid-80s Galant. A friend's dad had a late 80s Galant wagon and that was a wonderful vehicle. It even felt better than my other friend's Camry sedan -- which was a very nice car in the late 80s. I'm in full agreement that 10+ years down the line, Mitsubishi had lost their way.
This if from back when Honda made cars for the pleasure of driving them. The interior of modern Acura models is littered with buttons to make calls, text, social media, navigate, etc. A luxury car should be about serenity and calm; NOT putting stress and demands on the driver from electronic BS.
Preach it, texan! Remove the gosh darn distractions from the driver's line of sight for both safety and aesthetic reasons. When I'm driving, I want the best views of the road and surrounding landscape possible; not LED screens and other nonsense.

I'm telling you, you should really focus on Honda vids. Produce a 15+ minute video about each model's development. Get your hands on a loaner of each interesting model (si, gsr, nsx, type r) and wring it out over at mid-Ohio. Check out Victory by Design for a great format you could bring back. Interview Honda engineers and racing personalities. Isn't the Honda plant close to you? You and Brian should go film it. Anyway, keep up the good work.
Great ideas! Every car though? The videos would have to be occasional, parcelled out over time. While this video had me glued to the screen, without them being occasional, even well done, most would stop watching them.
Man, that's a real gem, I'm honestly surprised It's still so pricey considering It's a 90's Honda, but then again it is the coupe with a 6 speed. Seems like a keeper to me! Congrats.

Stevie Bboy , Read ~ 10 years ago when pondering ownership that it had differential problems. What drivetrain mitigation is available now to keep up that AWD ?
Hey Eric, i have a 95 Legend coupe i purchased from a salvage yard to fix up but its so badly twisted and bent that its beyond repair but is also a 6 speed stick with the shift knob still having the chrome finish on it, interior is like a 7-8 out of 10, can ship it to you if you would like with anything else, tan interior. Gonna be parting out what ever i can on ebay and amazon before sending it back to the crusher. Would love to donate any parts you need for it.
I'd be happy to take that shift knob off your hands. If the front seat is in good shape I'll consider that too. Lastly, the window problem is likely the window master switch. I'd take that if you don't need it. Lastly, does it have the original radio? Perhaps it might be best to send me an email. eric@ericthecarguy.com
ETCG1 ill toss a battery into the car after work today, I'm off around 9pm CST to check if the window switch rolls up and down, make sure the seats work, and will check the radio for function as it is still stock with the CD changer in the trunk Looks older lady driven and was Tboned driver side so hoping that switch will work still. And i believe seats are not torn or really faded much. If i was closer I'd just haul the car down, but sadly I'm in SK Canada, anyways, ill check it all after work and send you an email. Till than, stay dirty.
Hey Eric, I have a 95 Legend Coupe 6 speed LS European edition Cayman Pearl White its a rarity. I have been looking for the 6 speed shift knob. However, I am also interested in any other parts you wish to part out. I really need the shift knob. Please email me at jaysenberkley@gmail.com. Look forward to hearing from you thanks.
From what I remember, much like golf balls, dimples on vehicles have proven to make them more aerodynamic. Could ya just leave the hail damage alone and enjoy the better MPG?
I've always wanted a car with the right bumps to help with MPG, but way to scary to do it on purpose! Mythbusters did a test on this, but they scaled the bumps up. It worked, but it was done with heavy clay (of course, it was a cruising gas mileage comparison and not including acceleration). Did they have to scale it up for it to work? I'll never know.
Eric you are killing me! Like the legend. You have a project that you can love. I'm having the hardest time finding vigor parts. That cash for clunkers destroyed the used parts market.
HONDA YOU HAD THE ENGINE TURNED THE RIGHT WAY SO WHYYYYYY FWD, So many extra hoops you had to jump through to send the wheels to the front wheels instead of just running a drive shaft to the back like every other rwd car. If you meant to make it longitudinal awd like an audi OK, but you didn't. I learned to drive on a 91 btw
I fucking love these cars and I wish the ghetto didn't swallow them up and destroy them so quickly and terribly. Everyone loves the Lexus LS series when it comes to 90's Jap luxury cars, but these Acuras are a undeniably awesome.
Dang i can't believe you found this car. These Acura Legends with the manual transmission are Awesome vehicles and are super Rare! The Legends and the CB7 Accords 90 to 93 are some of my Favorite Honda cars of all time. I have a 93 accord coupe with the manual transmission but I'd Looove to own that one.
I had a 95 legend GS for my first car, great car, never had problems, my friend got a 98 Mercedes S420 had more problems for sure, but the interior and ride was on another level. The legend wasn't close to as nice as that. Was a lot more reliable though. I'd go for an LS400 of that period over either though.
Acura has always been ahead of it's time. I have always loved this car and I'm currently looking for one myself, you're very lucky to have found this one. A friend of mines used to have one and he asked me did I want to buy it when he was ready to sell but I declined because he had an automatic and it wasn't a type II but deep down inside I regret not buying it. One thing I can say about it, he babied the car the whole time he had it and the service was tight on it so it would have been a great buy.
I recently bought a 92 legend 5 speed this is my 3rd legend enjoyed the 93 LS and L models. Eric love you’re videos been watching you since Automotive HS and Apex Technical School hope one day you can give me job seems like you work alone, all the way from Brooklyn NY thanks for the inspiration to stay dirty.
My grandmother had one of these. I always thought that the electric seat motor to move it forward to climb in the back was ridiculous, though. Took so much longer than just popping the bar and moving it up. Still, amazing car, Eric, and what a find. As an aside, next to cup holders, lit floor wells and vanity mirrors are ESSENTIAL functions for me, and I swear I'll never buy another car without them.
Very awesome car! I had a '91, white on black cloth interior, 5-speed manual. Loved it, but a knee injury forced me to sell it for a slushbox. Had it longer than I've owned anything else, about five years. Never let me down, not even once. There's a very close-knit community of enthusiasts for these cars, and parts can definitely be found if you're seeking them.
U might not see this but I own a 1987 acura legend sedan I would love to send u pics of it cause I know u understand how rare and unique these cars are and appreciate the fact u are restoring this one.
Such a great find from the apex of Honda / Acura's engineering and manufacturing. I remember looking at the build quality of my '94 Integra LS v. my current '01 Integra GSR. The welds on the '94 were so much cleaner and tolerances between parts seemed just a hair better. That Legend was beyond my financial reach at the time, but I would have bought one if I had the means. Thanks for sharing this vehicle.
You have a gem there. I remember drooling over the legend coupe growing up. Finish restoring it and enjoy it man! The rear compartment is most likely where the first aid kit was located I think.
Holy crap that car has more features than my 2014 Mazda CX-5! It's amazing that all those numerous motorized functions still work in the car. And I've always wondered how the driveline works on these cars, thanks for showing us the view from underneath.
Wicked find on the retro radio with the aux port. I have same trouble with my 01 Civic. Going to order one myself. That car blows brand new cars out of the water and it's a 6 sp.
Only if today's acuras are made this good.

My uncle had a 95’ 4 door Legend GS black on black. One of my favorite cars of that era.
I'll never know.
oh man those old 90's Honda's were such sweet cars. Had a 92 Accord and it was a smooth riding tank.
That fart muffler is missing the performance part. The chrome tip!
Abunai One ,
Hah! And a chrome tip at that which "sports" twice the diameter of the exhaust!
Don't forget the cold air intake! It makes it go faster! Lol
I learned to drive on a 91 btw
beautiful legend. I vaguely remember my friend had a manual legend in highschool that car ripped for what it was,3 gears of rubber
I fucking love these cars and I wish the ghetto didn't swallow them up and destroy them so quickly and terribly. Everyone loves the Lexus LS series when it comes to 90's Jap luxury cars, but these Acuras are a undeniably awesome.
IAMJAKETRIMBLE shut up
Dang i can't believe you found this car. These Acura Legends with the manual transmission are Awesome vehicles and are super Rare! The Legends and the CB7 Accords 90 to 93 are some of my Favorite Honda cars of all time. I have a 93 accord coupe with the manual transmission but I'd Looove to own that one.
That bin in the back seems just like the one in mercedes' that has the medical pack in it.
Yes, it looks like it. But it's bit funny on "3 door" car.
Me thinks it is a tissue holder.
It's where the car manual would get stored
Miss you Eric. Watching old videos. These old acuras > anything made in the past 10 years
BMW, Mercedes Benz of that vintage ain't got shit on Acura....
El Lobo lol come on, do the research. Look up w126. They’re way ahead at Mercedes
Or even a w140
I had a 95 legend GS for my first car, great car, never had problems, my friend got a 98 Mercedes S420 had more problems for sure, but the interior and ride was on another level. The legend wasn't close to as nice as that. Was a lot more reliable though. I'd go for an LS400 of that period over either though.
Mercedes is way ahead in breaking and ripping people off
+jsalmon Not back then they weren't. Mercedes of the 1980s and 1990s are tanks. Modern ones are trash though.
so many 90's luxury features. love 'em... looks like it was well-cared for. congrats eric.
An electricians nightmare.
These never really had issues with that stuff. They were very well made cars.
Only if GM would have manufactured it.
I always enjoy your videos Eric. From one technician to another, you’re the friggin man.
Thank you!
Wow congratulations! Those Acura's you own are some of the best cars made ..
Really happy to see this car coming back to life again
My grandmother had one of these. I always thought that the electric seat motor to move it forward to climb in the back was ridiculous, though. Took so much longer than just popping the bar and moving it up. Still, amazing car, Eric, and what a find.
As an aside, next to cup holders, lit floor wells and vanity mirrors are ESSENTIAL functions for me, and I swear I'll never buy another car without them.
Rumor has it that fewer than 800 of these (w/ the 6 speed) ever made it to the states, and even fewer are still on the road. Sweet find.
Those Acura Legends are a gem. I love your car videos by the way
Very awesome car!
I love the car and love the fact you bring it back to stock.
I'm amazed at the amount of tech that's in this car!!!
8:26 "Eric! What's under the hood?" My thoughts exactly! lol Thanks for sharing, great overview of a nice car!
As I said when you bought it; I love it. Great car, great buy!! A real future classic.
This car is damn sweet! So many cool bells and whistles that you can't find on even current production vehicles.
You have a gem there. I remember drooling over the legend coupe growing up. Finish restoring it and enjoy it man! The rear compartment is most likely where the first aid kit was located I think.
Those features are amazing for 1994. My dad had a more basic 91 Legend and it was a cool car. My jaw dropped when I saw that third visor again!
Holy crap that car has more features than my 2014 Mazda CX-5! It's amazing that all those numerous motorized functions still work in the car. And I've always wondered how the driveline works on these cars, thanks for showing us the view from underneath.
So hype for this. This car is super rare. Always loved these Legends!
Wicked find on the retro radio with the aux port. I have same trouble with my 01 Civic. Going to order one myself. That car blows brand new cars out of the water and it's a 6 sp.
Wow whoever had the car before was a total a**whole. I’m am glad your restoring it back to its original look.
Nice! My sister had a six speed three years back. I miss it so much.
My brother had a 95 black on black type 2 6speed back in the day. Nice car. Love the way the engine setup is
Thank you Eric for a really interesting and well made video about such a great car! Keep it stock, take care of it and enjoy it :)
