I just got this arrangement from my piano teacher a few days ago. it's proving to be quite difficult for my current skill level, be I feel that it will be really fun and nice to play once I can play it. It's a really nice arrangement.

Really leaves me kind of wondering why the original arranger left the C sharp there in the first place when the mass majority of players won’t be able to play it anyways without Rachmaninov hands or something
Hey Caliko, how are you? Thank you for making another cover of Sakura Nagashi. It's been 5 years huh since your first cover. How time flies. I'm glad you are still making music. I'm listening to both of the covers now to discern some things. You mentioned in the description that it was a single mic and a different piano before. You are certainly right that it sounds different but both are good in their own way. The previous cover feels heavier and has a deeper tone to it. It feels like you were in a state of some struggle in your life, (perhaps work or school?), and it shows in the sound. I can feel a determining emotion in it. This new cover has a light and refined feel to it. You are relaxed and whimsical when playing it. Perhaps you are in a better headspace and sorted out some things in your life. One remarkable thing i noticed is that you have perfected the final part starting at 3:08 and you're confident in bringing it to its conclusion. I think that's really wonderful. Honestly i wouldn't mind it if you kept covering this song whenever you want. It's nice to hear different styles and variations of the feelings you can convey through music. Once again, thank you. Thank you, I've been well! I really liked reading your take on the two videos - how it was for me, is that I recorded the first, 2017 video without having watched any of Evangelion, and without really listening to the original much before. I simply liked the arrangement as a standalone piece. Now, though, after having watched all of Evangelion, my feelings towards the piece changed completely, and my interpretation did too. My previous cover certainly was harsher, and I think most notably in the middle part from 2:29, I played it very loud at first, increasingly forte, but then after seeing the context for the song I did a complete 180 on that. I certainly have Utada Hikaru's voice in my head now when I play it, and very, very different feelings than I did back then! A lot of it also comes down to comfort, as you said - I can be much more relaxed when playing it now, it's been so long after all!
Anime is just a medium to tell a story, not liking anime is essentially the same as not liking books, or movies, it's rather a sign that you haven't found one you like yet :D
I think this all originated from the piano & strings version by Sam Yung 12 years ago. Then was the piano arrangement of PaRaD1Se98. That led me to another legendary song "Eternity - Memory of Lightwaves". The original version was good enough, but the arrangement of the piano collection album by Noriko Matsueda, and I think the best version played by kylelandry 16 years ago, are just so wonderful.
Who would be doggo to cheer you from the window while you play. ;P Really nice interpretation, I hadn't (still haven't) heard the first but overall I can say it was great as a standalone thing.
