That's so great to hear! When I started playing monk, I asked my friend why so few people play it. He said "it's hard and even harder to find a good guide video" So thats what I always hoped to do for mistweaver! Make new monks know that it's not that hard!
Fistweaver is probably the most dull spec to play in the entire WoW. Speaking of any learning curve here shocks me. But then I remember in what times we live and it kinda makes sense. As a MW monk main I don't like being forced to play melee semi afk bot to heal my group but it is what it is.
Thanks for the videos I have learned a lot. I just made the swap to Mistweaver and have been having a blast with it. I will be raiding healing in our mythic prog and hope AT build becomes a solid option but either way I'm, happy I finally made the switch.

I've been eyeing retail wow recently after I realized I wanted something akin to what fistweaving is as a healer, your videos on it recently have been very encouraging I'm coming to this decision at a good moment.
Tbh at this point i will play the AT build in Raid and see how it performs. i play mistweaver to play in melee and to punch someone to heal, it would be so great to see that getting possible in Raid as well, even if the output is a bit behind CF.
In your opinion, what change(s) would push the Chi-Ji ancient teachings build over the edge and make it more viable in raid vs the current Yulon build?
Well I do think that the square root healing changes has hurt the yulon build more than most people know, and it has raised the skill floor required to play that build even further, so I really think it just takes chiji builds being able to get 65ish parses on mythic fights. If it can do that comfortably, I could see raiders swapping to it for preference.
So I main a H-Pal and I am used to Nerf aka (balancing) Thanks for GOD Mode. Funny thing about the nerfs though H-pal is still S tier for Mythic+. Season 3 I am planning on bringing my H-pal, MW and P Evoker to the table. I plan on Maining Mistweaver for M+ and push into the higher keys. If we are as good as we are on PTR there will be a "balancing" come the first reset based on my history with Paladin and Evoker sadly. Having said that, im not gonna let the nerfs scare me away and hop onto a Shaman or a druid.
I played Mistweaver back in Legion, until I went to Brewmaster for Cutting Edge. Essence font made that build feel so much more fun. Especially with how mobile we are. The fact that we have to stand still for one of our longest casts right now feels.....weird.

It's still a bit outscaled even in the chiji build, especially since crit is so important in 10.2 due to lifecycles, and haste still being very good with that build
Blizz seems to have realized that when they changed how AT worked, when a lot of people need to get healed, they aren't getting as much, i bet this is why the TP and BK buffs are for. Just one word, FINALLY! Edit: OMG TotM at 4 stacks, their brain is working, i kept thinking of how this always made sense and why wasn't already made to be the norm.
Do you know why they make us waste a skill point to add poison removal? Shouldn't that be default to the detox? In regards to why not maining; it still has no battle rez and most pug dps need as much babysitting tools as they can get from healers. plus for raiding this dps addition plays little benefit.
I’m already fistweaving in mythic reclears and I’m still pumping 90% parses without trying so with them nerfing the yu’lon build and buffing the chiji play style it’ll be a lot closer than you think, should be easily swappable. I’m not gonna be playing yu’lon in next prog unless the damage patterns call for it!
Yulon build is not nerfed, it is just less punishing if you are unlucky for RSK resets and not being in melee from time to time. Yes, they capped IM, but they buffed the healing a lot.
@@Quettesh it is nerfed, they reduced clouded focus, reduced the vivify cleave cap, and reduced enveloping breath healing. The buff to the vivify cleave was only to compensate with the reduced cleave cap but was still an overall nerf.
Clouded focus was hit pretty hard coming into 10.2, and also you have to really optimize how many rems you have out instead of just having as many as you can for any scenario.
@@LBNinja7 yea exactly, with all the nerfs and clunkiness to yu’lon the fistweaving build is looking real good. Especially on cleave fights with awakened faeline we’ll be unstoppable. People sleeping on fistweaving for sure!
I love Monk, but you aren't more people playing it?" It's because Blizz hasn't reworked WW yet. It still has problems keeping up. It has to regularly receive bandaid fixes to make them worthwhile in Endgame content. WW best Stat is Vers because the other stats are so undervalued in our spec. I love all 3 Monk specs. They are fun and generally compete with only Druid for my favorite class. Fistweaving IS my preferred healer, Brewmaster my favorite tank. If Blizz could just get away from the 99 bandaid problem and actually just fix WW, it will be an amazing top-tier class and more used by the playerbase. Until WW gets a Ret-level rework, I just don't see it happening. This should not discourage others from trying MW or BrM, because both of them are an outstandingly fun time and they are great specs.
You asked why people aren’t playing the spec- probably rhetorical. But. Where’s your Blessing of Sacrifice ? Where’s your Battle Res or Lust? Where’s your additional melee range? BoP? Blessing of Summer, etc. Just some of the reasons why and I think most of us know that. It’s hard to give all those things up, sometimes. Especially when you don’t run another Paladin spec in there.
you could say this about every other healer that isn't holy paladin... nothing else comes close fistweaving if thats the playstyle you like most and now its stronger than ever. keep your brez, I got engineering. keep your lust, I got drums and probably a meta-chasing augvoker. fk the meta have fun
I do raid mythic and CE and can tell you that guilds would gladly accept top end chiji players that parse in the 70s even. CE is more about playing consistently at a good level, and taking a 95% build would be totally acceptable. now I wouldn't go anything below that though lol
FW Monk is not payable in raids, well very few fights, not to mention the "dps" is very negligible. With that said, the information he presents is accurate but he's ultimately a FW Monk so he's very biased in the fact he pushes it so often. However, what the spec lacks is heal output in high damage scenarios; spot healing. Aside from big cooldowns it just can't keep up with enveloping mist, renewing mist spread with essence font, vivify. The added built in healing through talents just gives you way more healing throughput. Also, if it's because you're "dpsing" it shines the best on trash... and that's about it. Boss fights is no contest with the cleaves like he always mentions and also being in melee range isn't always the best. Furthermore, the dps you think you're doing is again, negligible. I will say, it does more damage then the setup i am saying but unless you're pushing 28+ it's not even an issue. Also, the playstyle is a little more fun than a traditional MW healer setup but if we are talking raw healing output there's no contest between the 2.
The weird thing now is that MW right now in season 2 is actually WAY better than people realize. I started it a couple of weeks ago, still don't know it completely, and it's amazing. In raid you can just use mana tea after bursting, and in m+ you don't really run out of mana and because of using melee DPS, it's much faster.
my only xp is s1 3.2k rio rsham. s2 rsham and hpal 3.1k after watching your guide i gave mistweaver a go and here is what i think. the spec has a huge gap in cooldowns which is the only relevant thing in m+ because healing is so high overall that every spec can just heal through the normal expected dmg of lets say dragon boss in VP and 3rd boss in Halls of origination. buffing their dmg that will turn into more healing is irrelevant unless they get to the point where they heal through the assasins + bridge after 1st drake in VP using Spinning crane kick only. do they do that? im clueless since my mw gear is low they only have one relevant cooldown that is Chiji. shaolaos gift exists as well but its too basic . its a onetime thing. maybe making essence font stronger or give it an ehnanced teachings of the monastery effect and longer cd to make it relevant . maybe add thunderfocus tea affect a spinningcrane that will make more dps and heal . mistweaver already has a lot of healing it lacks in cooldowns. thats what i got
Sheilun’s gift is basically a party-wide 100% heal every 40s. Combined with chi ji being up every 1m, there’s not a lot MW can’t cover just between those two CDs. Ancient teachings was never meant to heal big dmg like the assassins in VP. It’s more of a maintenance heal for low mana costs. Faeline+SCK can actually heal quite a bit depending on mob count, and you can often save CDs and just get by with it.

Chi-Ji is now on steroids - and I'm gonna have to change my TotM weakaura super exited for playing this in 10.2
The 4 stacks of ancient teachings is amazing. It hits like 12 times and with chi ji it heals an incredible amount now

Are you raiding mythic? You can't take 95% build if there is a 100% one when your target is CE in a reasonable time.
