I miss my mom to bro. She passed away 12/22/22. Exactly 1 month to the day before my son was born. She was so exited to meet my son and have another grandchild 😢
I loved this reaction because for ONCE someone understood Jenny and Lt Dan rather than just hating because how they treated forest. You didn't judge but tried to understand. Coming from an abusive home myself I really appreciate that. I chose a different path than Jenny thankfully but I know all too many who went down that same rosd. And many died young for various reasons. So thank you for your intelligence compassion empathy. More people should take a lesson.
Thank you so so much for understanding Jenny and not demonizing her. So many people get this part wrong and it’s just devastating to me that people don’t get it. Trauma is so real and it can impact every aspect of your life.
I am on a different level than this... I grew up with a mother who was bipolar who blamed every dangerous situation she ever put me in on the fact that she was ill... I was SA by my real father and then physically and SA by her longtime boyfriend and his father for several years. Then I was heavily bullied and ostracized through Jr/sr high school. But I still knew right from wrong. I still understood that my actions/words could hurt people who were trying to help/love me. I'm tired of the idea that just because you were traumatized that you get to traumatize other people, with free pass It's the same as the serial killer who is like... yeah I was beaten as a child... Yeah well you decided to grow up and be a serial killer and we're still going to give you the death penalty. Her hell ended at like 6 my hell didn't end until I was eighteen and got to move away. I'm sorry I give her no pass.
@Vlasko60thank you...and to clarify.. I have compassion for Jenny's trauma. I do not have compassion for how she chose to treat people in her life because of her trauma. There's a difference. I too went through several years in my early twenties where I self-medicated with drugs. And I still did not treat the people around me like she did.
It's not that people don't get Jenny's trauma. People understand it, but it doesn't excuse her actions or how she treated Forrest. Even she acknowledged how badly she treated Forrest that's why she apologized. The Jenny apologist are ridiculous and think people aren't justified in the way they feel towards the character. It's the same with Lt. Dan and how wrong he treated Forrest after Vietnam. Trauma does not excuse or justify you treating people badly. It's fine to understand a characters flaws/trauma/backstory and still like the character just like it fine to understand the characters flaw/trauma/backstory and still NOT like the character. Alot of people are the latter when it comes to Jenny and the Jenny apologist need to realize that.
@@lirpa2300 yeah I'm sorry her apology was hollow to me because the next words out of her mouth were... I'm sick, I need your help, I want you to marry me ( now,not when you asked) so you can take care of the kid when I die. If she had not gotten aids would she ever even have told Forest that his son existed????? She hadn't so far! Nope. Manipulator, selfish, to the end.
I'm just a veteran, but I want to thank you for your approach. You were never condescending, and you evem approached Jenny with care and concern. I was abused as a child, so I relate to Jenny quite a lot. I never lost a limb, but I have a rather shiny scar on the left side of my head, which I got because of an incident in Baghdad. But, I really appreciate the empathy you employed throughout, and your questions were absolutely NOT dumb nor stupid. They were solid. Veterans are as diverse as the civilian population. Some feel as Lt Dan felt. Others served must to go to school. And others served because they wanted to, because they felt patriotic. And yet, there are some who hated serving. There are a diverse number of viewpoints. One thing I will say, is Gary Sinese, the actor who portrayed Lt Dan, became inspired to help wounded veterans because of this film. He, and Denzel Washington, are two of the most giving people toward veterans and their families. Oh, and you express yourself however you want. People may say this or that, but no one can make you feel, act, or do anything you don't want to do. Don't change for anyone. Express yourself as you see fit. I could share my military experiences, but this probably isn't the best place to do so. Anyway, Bravo Zulu for a great reaction/review.
Whenever he asks her if little forest is smart or “like me” … ugh it kills me. Breaks my heart - it makes you realize that he’s so highly aware of his place in the world and always has.
Lieutenant Dan's family had a history of someone dieing in each war, so he felt that dieing in the war was an honorable death. Jenny really loved forest, but because of her childhood, she felt she wasn't worthy of him.
A friend of mine who went to war several times said they knew people like Lieutenant Dan, who legitimately felt like dying during service was a destiny of their family, and they either died or put themselves unnecessarily into dangerous situations. I really pity them.
Thank you for not vilifying Jenny too much.❤Far too many reactors (sadly, most often males) make zero attempt to understand her. They keep insisting that she’s leading Forrest on and purposefully trying to hurt him. She loves him, but doesn’t want to get into a relationship with him. They don’t believe that she is allowed to just be his friend, but instead owes Forrest a relationship. She doesn’t feel like he understands romantic feelings or what happened to her or why she’s so damaged. She doesn’t think she’s good for him so she stays away, but does love him. This is one of my favorite movies. We didn’t watch this in my school. There were parts in History class the teachers might reference the movie, but, no, they definitely did not show this in our schools out in AZ Haha. I loved the scene at the capital after Vietnam where the white man with a Afro wearing the flag shirt; I remember seeing a photograph of that moment with him (the real guy) giving a speech wearing that shirt. Ya’ll finding the woman at the bus stop ignoring Forrest as being kind of rude was funny to me. 😅 I don’t talk to people at bus stops at all! I use my books to keep people away so they’ll leave me alone; it doesn’t always work, especially with men that want to get in my space and shoot their shot.😖I’m like, “Dude! I just wanna read my book, get to school/work, and NOT fear for my life. PLEASE leave me alone.”😅 Ya’ll should watch: “The Green Mile”, “Meet Joe Black”, “Powder”, “Michael”, “Phenomenon”, and “Bicentennial Man”.😊
Cried throughout this reaction. So many beautiful moments. To think this guy who got written off by almost everyone he met brought light into so many lives: Henny, Lieutenant Dan, the soldiers he saved, Bubba’s family. So wholesome!
I love how at the end he starts telling his son what not to do, he says Forrest don't..." but then he just decides to tell him "I love you", like, just know that you are loved, and act into the world according to that. 😭🤧
I think he was going to tell his son "don't talk to strangers." Like he told the bus driver his mother told him. Imagine Forrest life though, had he chosen not to talk to "strangers"...
I was so glad that you said you understand Jenny, because childhood truly shapes you and follows you for decades even after you've become an adult. I have been bullied in school for seven years, my family abused and neglected and violated me in every horrible way possible and to be honest - I often wonder how the hell I'm still alive. Or why I didn't become a criminal after all that happened to me. I've thought about dying most of my life, and although I'm living a pretty stable life now I still can't seem to have normal human relationships. I'm alone all the time (voluntarily), I don't trust anyone, don't have friends and cut off all contact to my family years ago, my self worth is pretty low... Childhood really truly shapes you.
As another person who’s had a rough childhood… don’t you ever give up Sarah. I understand you completely. I’m the same way.. but we’re still pushing. That has to mean something! We’re all human 🤍🙏🏼 You deserve to not be perfect !
Same here, I feel like when I am by myself, I love myself, I love my mind and the way I think and everything and I never get bored with myself, but then when I have to interract with people, I feel like I have been so conditioned for such a long time to feel like I am not enough and like I don't deserve to be loved. And every time when like for example they ommit to invite me somewhere or stuff like that, it's really painful even if I didn't wanna go there anyway, because it reinforces that idea again that I am just that replaceable and forgettable. So like you said, I tend to isolate myself rather than deal with that pain of feeling rejected even when it's not personal, and I have a very hard time trusting people or letting them in. It's weird, as a coping mechanism I developped this strategy where I can laugh and be chatty and extra friendly and spirit of the party, while actually using all that as a wall so they don't see behing it, and while I am all that chatty miss sunshine, I feel lonely and detached all along.
@@mrflickswatches thank you so much for your kindness and your big heart! 😭💜 I guess we're stronger than we think right? I hope you'll never give up too no matter how shitty something might seem in the future. 💜
@@monio.9444 ...woah. You just put it in the right words! That's exactly how I wanted to express these feelings but since english is not my native language I often struggle to find the precise words. 😭 Jesus, thank you for understanding me so well! And heck to the yes, I agree to every single statement of yours, you Hit the nail on the head. But it's strangely comforting to know there are so many others out there who are living in the same way as well so we don't have to feel so alienated about it. I hope you could somehow make your peace with your 'condotion' (don't know how else to call it), and I will keep you in my thoughts and send some warmth your way. 💜🫂
@@sarahmoller7308 Thank you, so kind of you. 💙 Glad to see there are others who understnd. And then at the same time I wish there weren't so many people who feel like this, cause it's a pretty exhausting feeling. Bless you.
i really appreciate you being kind with jenny, so many people judge her and forget shes just horribly traumatized. i never even judged her for leaving forrest after they slept together because even though that really sucked, she finally had the strength to get better on her own because forrest taught her it was okay to feel safe and be good.
I haven't finished watching this reaction yet, HOWEVER I must say..... **Mr Flicks, thank you!** Thank you for understanding why Jenny was the way she was and did the things she did. So many reactors spend the entire movie absolutely sh*tting on Jenny not even trying to understand her at all. As someone who went through years of abuse as a child, this really means something that people are compassionate. Not all wounds and scars are visible
Of course 🙏🏼 I’ve had close friends that dealt with that I’m familiar with it and how they tend to act sometimes and it is NOT they’re fault. I think more people should indeed identify that
@Justin Freitag Really? You don't come across like the nicest or very well adjusted person. Spending your time searching out something like a movie that you know upsets you just so you can argue with people about how you're better than them. You might want to spend that time and energy working on yourself and your own happiness.
@Justin Freitag just because you never treated people like that doesn’t mean you get to judge anyone else. People aren’t machines. They don’t operate on a set programming, they don’t live their lives following a linear line. We are different. People respond and act differently to similar situations. Jenny being fictional or not is irrelevant.
@Justin Freitag You have not walked in her shoes, no matter how much you pretend you have. You're in no position to judge. Jenny had an arc, it took her years to recover from her abuse. It may have required the experience of motherhood to learn how to accept love, and sick or not, it was still a major step forward for her to be able to feel herself worthy enough to finally allow the true love of a good man.
Excellent reaction. What I have noticed about younger reactors is their struggle with understanding Jenny. You two are very empathetic with her childhood of sexual abuse. Where the disconnect comes is everyone is seeing their relationship through Forrest's eyes. The reason Jenny keeps leaving Forrest so many times is that she doesn't feel worthy of Forrest's love. She sees herself as too damaged to be a woman worth his love. She continually leaves him because she DOES love him very much.
Also the whole terminology of her “leaving him” is very Forrest-centric… She’s just going about her life. She and Forrest drift apart as friends going to different colleges, then sometimes they cross paths as adults, but I don’t think she or anyone except Forrest would think of it as “leaving” him - they haven’t made any commitments to each other. All that is not including their one-night stand of course, which is not so simple, and after which I would say she “leaves” him.
I watched this movie at age 10. It's so iconic. I'm so glad you both understood Jenny's pain. My husband and I watched it recently together and he kept saying that jenny was wrong to abandon Forrest all the time. But she runs from safety due to a trauma response. Forrest was a safe person for her and she was so used to not feeling safe that it felt uncomfortable to be with someone who genuinely cared for her
fun thing is as you get older and learn more about history, you'll understand more and more of the scenes in this film that you missed the first time. there are a ton of historic references in this film that as a really younger person just fly right over your head. there are so many things in this film..."shit happens" "'have a nice day shirt",watergate, nixon, johnson, kennedy, wallace, john lennon on cavett, the black panthers, abbie hoffman, etc. etc.
Saw this in school, not as part of the curriculum but just from a history teacher who wanted to show us on a day off. I’ll never forget how everyone was glued to it by the end.
First time here this is one of my favorite movies, I always read the comments first and was very happy to read of the understanding of what Jenny went through, I cannot stand when people just hate on her. Loved the reaction Liked Subscribed & Hit the Bell. Excited to check out your other videos.
Agreed you have to be in Jenny’s shoes to understand being used to abuse your whole life sexual and physical feeling worthless having a light In your life but you don’t want to ruin him or make that light dim so you keep them at arms length breaking your own heart so he stays innocent and no one cares that your getting hurt so you become numb and by the time she realize she deserves more she gets sick
The only reason I bothered to watch this reaction was because you didn’t shit on Jenny the entire time. I don’t watch Forrest Gump reactions anymore because of this. But I’m glad I found this one! It’s a breathe of fresh air. Thank you. I don’t like how Jenny acts, but I get it. The trauma she went through can last a lifetime and for her, it did.
Yeah, I won't watch Forrest Gump reactions unless I check the comment section first so I can kind of feel out their thoughts on Jenny. I'm not wasting my time watching another man with no emotional intelligence bash Jenny, I've got no time for that.
Forrest's college football coach was the legendary Paul "Bear" Bryant, head coach at Alabama from 1958 to 1982. And, yes, that checkerboard hat was his trademark.
Sally Field is indeed iconic. She won two best actress oscars, and the second was for a truly amazing performance in a very overlooked film called Places in the Heart, which you should add to your list. And listening to your outro, a very early and very funny Tom Hanks which you should enjoy is called Big.
It does my heart good to see young people understand and empathize with all the characters, and you knew most of the historical references. Best reaction to this movie I have seen. I am a 72 yr old Vuet Ban vet wgi grew up through all this.
"your childhood matters!" I've never heard that before mate! I hear what you're saying brother! If your childhood was a minefield... you know what this geezer is saying! Much respect pal!
Jenny runs from her problems and it's the advice she always gives to Forrest. It's only when she stopped running that things started to get better for her.
My two cents: "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get" sums it up pretty well. This movie perfectly shows how everybody, no matter how perfect their life seems, every single one of us has a struggle, and you have no choice but to pick up your hardship and move on with it and do your best with what you've got, even if it's not perfect, at least you know you did all you could. And in the process be kind to others, knowing that others too have their hidden pains just like you. Forrest from outside might seem like he had a loving mom and a big house, but in exchange he has the health problem and the slow mind problem, Jenny is very beautiful and bright and it's the girl you'd think has the world at her little finger but she suffered abuse and neglect, while Lieutenant Dan, from the little things we know about him, has the pressure of dying as a hero, like all generations before him, he was made to think that that's his only value in this world. From all of them, though, Forrest might seem like he has it easier, but that's just because he grew up being loved and his mom constantly told him that he's as good as everybody else. Which does show how important it is to feel like you matter, because his hardship wasn't actually any easier than others, it was just his way of looking at things that was different. Forrest was adaptable like water. I see Jenny more like the wind, she went wherever the wind took her, she didn't seem to have any agency, she kept finding herself in situations that were totally not what she needed. To draw a parallel, this reminds me how in the movie Memoirs of a Geisha, the characters are also compared to elements depending on how they act in their environment.
Being a combat vet, this movie always gets me. Sometimes, you wish certain things would happen, but; that's not what life has in store for you. You do what you can and let the chips fall. Great reaction, ya'll 👍
Love this movie for the obvious reasons. One of the biggest themes overlooked though, is the trauma and how each character deals with their trauma. The biggest battles we will ever face are with ourselves. Forrest, being literal and not really comprehending much internally, was immune to that internal chatter. Jenny and Lt. Dan internalized their trauma and allowed it to consume them. They each were on their own timeliness.
Didn't see this in school but I did remember seeing this movie for the first time as a kid and it's been one of my favorites since. Lots of great quotable dialogue and some very emotional moments.
This is one of my fave movies. It's just so beautifully made, and makes you experience all the emotions, makes you think - teaches you history too lol. It's just such a classic. You've gotta watch Schindler's List and the Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
I watched it it Sophomore year in 2003-2004 in Film Studies, but I remember watching a little of it when I was very little only I didn't know at the time what I was watching. When I was little, I remember Jenny saying "You can sit down if you want to", then Bubba saying "You can sit down if you want to" and then Forrest and Bubba sleeping with their backs together in the rain . . . "What movie should we tackle next?" I knew you were gonna say Full Metal Jacket :D
I got that same hat, fam! Great reaction you two. Just realized that Forrest running was him being sad/depressed so he ran like Jenny always told him to.
So glad you guys did a reaction on this. There are so many other movies with the same feeling out there. Can't wait to see more like this. Also, small suggestion, make the sound of the movie as loud as your voices pretty please, cause I keep having to adjust the sound between the movie and the reactions.
@@dabreal82 I don't mind if both sounds are lower, the only problem is the difference. Cause kf they're both loud or both lower, you can adjust the volume just once. But if they differ, you have to keep change it 😅
For those who are curious as to what a million dollar wound is, it's a wound that's not crippling or fatal, but bad enough to take you off the battlefield.
I'll give you a shrimp recipe my mother taught me. First, it's best to cook the whole shrimp with heads and all. Most Chinese prefer it this way because it keeps the flavor sealed. Stir fry the shrimp in oil. As the shrimp start turning pink, add sugar. Keep flipping so the sugar caramelize on the shrimp and doesn't stick to the pan. You might add some sliced pineapple. When the shrimp is pink, put it on a plate with paper towel so the oil would soak into the paper towel and not on the plate. Quickly run the pan in hot water as it's still hot over the sink and dump the water. It may take a minute or two to be sure. This way the sugar won't stick to the pan as it will be hard scraping the sugar off once cool.
@@sarahmoller7308 My favorite is licking off the sugar as I peel so the sweetness is on my tongue as I bite down. If you want naturally sweet shrimp, there's botan ebi (bigger) and amaebi (small). In the US food for sushi or sashimi is freeze cooked before being sold by FDA regs. That means they have to be at low temperatures for at least 24 hours to kill any germs or bacteria.
When I was leaving college for my first job, she was afraid I would be eating out all the time. In reality, I've been watching her cook for years before our meals. The first two things she taught me was how to make rice and pork chops. Rinse the rice in a pot and then carefully tip the pot until the water drains clean. Add enough water until it's over your flat hand on the rice. Put the pot with lid covered on high until it boils. Then turn to low. Stir occassional because the rice might stick on the pot. As a kid, I did like the burnt rice on the bottom. But it was hard to scrape off. Once all the water can't be seen boiling, it's done. The other recipe was pork chops. Add sugar and some garlic powder to both sides. Poke holes through the pork chops with a fork. This allows the pork chops to breathe while frying. Let it set overnight at room temperature and covered. The next day, pan fry the pork chops and flipping frequently in case the sugar gets burned on the pan.
Its kinda ironic and sad how forest couldn’t get Jenny the whole the movie , and yet when he finally is able too she gets sick . U guys brought it up but one of the things I really like abt this movie is it shows how different 2 peoples lives are . They’ve both been through a lot of shit (whether it’s bullying , grief or abuse) but they did a great job of showing how different 2 future lovers lives are . I like it cause it’s basically saying no matter how different ur backgrounds and lives are or have been , love is still love
I definitely saw it in school. Twice! I don’t remember a permission slip either haha 😂 either way. One of my favorite movies of all time. Glad to have found you two. I will be watching all of HP videos next.
I can quote most of this movie. I've probably seen it every year since it came out on video in '95. I relate A LOT to this movie, having grown up paralyzed. And now that my time is growing short, it hits even harder in some spots. Fantastic reaction!! I'm SO glad that you understood Jenny, that was my favorite part of this reaction.
First time I saw this movie was at high school, specifically in history class. My teacher was cool and would highlight the historic moments, my whole class loved watching this movie.
I’m so glad you saw it and that you really understand the emotions. When she initially says “You don’t know what live is,” she was absolutely the one who doesn’t understand the concept of love. Some amazing films to consider: The Banger Sisters (Susan Sarandon and Goldie Hawn AND no one has reacted to this film on RUclips yet. Severely slept on.) The Color Purple (Whoopie Goldberg and Danny Glover) The Secret Life of Bees (Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah, and more) Mrs.Doubtfire (Robin Williams and Sally Field)
Enjoyed your reaction. Love this movie. Seen it a number of times. AND, so happy you understood where Jenny was coming from. A number of reactors just got angry with her.
When you are so damaged that you are suicidal, there is no way in hell you are going to allow yourself to corrupt and destroy someone you love. Someone you love and is your best friend. Someone as pure and innocent as Forrest. Sometimes there just aren't enough rocks.
I'm new, but I loved your reaction here. I am a fan of "Private Ryan" too, but since I saw "Hacksaw Ridge", I think it's at least as well made, and it's a TRUE STORY. An amazing example of faith and courage while facing incredible personal battles. The story is actually toned down in parts because the producers were afraid the audience would not believe the full measure of the story portrayed. I'd love to get your reaction!👍
So many abuse victims, especially victims of that type of abuse have a deep self loathing and self blame. It's directly related to the emotional and physical trauma they suffered. They very often don't feel worthy of love, especially of someone as pure and truly loving as Forrest. People often miss that Jenny was in her wounded way trying to protect Forrest from herself, which is why she tells him he doesn't want her. I've seen other reactors hate on Jenny all the way through and completely miss who she really is, it was cool to see someone who understood more what she was going through and suffering. Beyond that, such a great movie, brilliantly acted by all. Great reactions always guys!!
I’m glad you guys didn’t get mad at Jenny like I see other reactors do. She is misunderstood by a lot of people. I think she thinks she is never good enough for Forrest and she doesn’t want to bring him down with her.
I had to watch The Green Mile for English class one year, Amistad and Glory for Social Studies. I couldn't handle watching them. I would either look away crying or sit in the hallway reading a book until the movie was over.
I'm so thankful for a reaction experience where people understand why Jenny was the way she was. She loved Forrest, she didn't intend to be cruel or hurt him but she was horrifically broken by her childhood. Some people also get super upset that she "kept" little Forrest from Forrest and he didn't know him for years but they forget Forrest was running and it was the 80s or whatever...she couldn't just send him a message on Instagram or whatever. As soon as he could get the letter he did
Thanks for a nice reaction. 👍 Forrest's story is an analogy to life in general. We are all like that feather blowing in the wind. Beautiful and random, we all find meaning on our own.
I think I watched Forrest Gump in history class in high school. I can quote this whole movie. Also, if you haven’t seen it yet you should react to The Green Mile it is my favorite Tom Hanks movie.
Tom Hanks has a way of bringing all the emotions out. If you want to see him, as an actor to the tenth degree, total different genre, little action, no military no car chases...just watch "Castaway" I think you both will love it!!! Thanks for sharing.
This is my favorite movie of all time. Saw it in the theater when it came out. Shawshank Redemption is my second favorite movie. Then Good Will Hunting.
I've been watching this movie since I was like 3 and back then I watched this like 10 to 50 times a day every day for a long time, Glad you made a reaction love yall
This movie always hits me in the emotions. When I first saw it as a youngster, I would get sad when the main characters died and I hated Jenny for how she treated Forrest. As I watch it now as an adult, the part that hits me the hardest is when Jenny introduces Forrest to his son and his immediate reaction is to ask if he's slow like him. Tom Hanks in that scene is exceptional. Another thing that came with age is that Jenny was destroyed by her father. Her life was broken and the more I learned on the subject, my opinion about her has completely changed. Great movie.
The reason why Lieutenant Dan wanted to just sit there and die was because all of his family fought and died in the war so without dieing he felt he was just crippled and a disappointment
Hey guys, I really liked your reaction to Forrest Gump. You mentioned Saving Private Ryan, if you haven't seen it, you gotta do a reaction to it, and The Green Mile, another Tom Hanks movie. Another great movie would be Jojo Rabbit or Only The Brave with Josh Brolin. Keep up the great reactions.
It just occurred to me that maybe Jenny was able to get better “by herself” because she learned she was carrying Forrest’s kid. Like; she doesn’t think SHE HERSELF is worthy of nice things, but Forrest’s kid is, and so she HAS to take care of herself to take care of him…. I guess Trauma never really fully heals.
the best movies always bring out as many emotions as you have. they make you laugh, cry, be happy, sad, and if you can bring out all that then its a good movie.
Hey, Dr. Pepper is my jam, but if we're drinkin Root Beer I'll tear into it. Best I've ever had is at Shilo's Delicatessen. They serve it home made and in a mug so cold ice crystals form on the top
Absolutely loved this reaction! I'd love for you two to check out earlier Tom Hanks. He did some funny movies. 'The Money Pit' is hilarious. A great movie with Sally Fields to react to 'Steel Magnolias'.
I read a while back that Forest and Jenny are the personification of America . Forest, a positive outlook on the world with hard work and accomplishing goals and striving forward in life . (America for the last century had the best innovation economically and having an optimistic views from blue collar people ) Jenny, represents the troubled and abused who kept running away leading to experimenting with drugs(America at the time while it was at its peak , it also had severe problems socially, wether it being poverty, trauma, depression, which led to high rates of drug abuse in the 70’s/80’s) Every time I watch this movie it always makes sense
I just came across your channel and subbed. I enjoyed y’alls reactions. Thank you for being compassionate about Jenny’s character. Childhood abuse and trauma is devastating. Everyone reacts differently and some people can never overcome that pain. I’m a huge Elvis fan. You should watch the mini documentary Elvis and the Black Community. It tells you everything you need to know about that legend. I recommend y’all watch the Elvis movie. It’s fantastic. I look forward to more of your content!
1994 was an exceptional year for film. The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, and this masterpiece. If you haven't seen the other two add them to your list. A couple others you may enjoy are Braveheart and The Last Samurai. Enjoy! 😉👍
Forrest was just a feather on a breeze. I'd read the book before the movie came out. Great book. This was my first exposure to your channel. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you've done.
1. The music rights alone must have cost a small fortune💲💲 2. Kurt Russel did the voice for Elvis. 3. IRL Sally Fields is only 10 years older than Tom Hanks. 4. Having gotten his degree Forrest would have gone into the Army as an officer like Lt. Dan. Not a recruit. His ASVAB kills that. 5. He actually saved Lt Dan twice. Once in the field and again to get him out of his post war funk and Dan turned his life around. 6. Normally an enlisted Army person would be fully aware of his/her separation date. 5. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😋 8. Jenny died of Hep-C from dirty needles when she was in Caliphony.. 9. It's ironic that Lt. Dan told the guys to take care of their feet because he loses his. 10. At the rally Forrest says, "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that." 11. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis, John Lennon, Abby Hoffman to Vietnam and Watergate. Even the jogging craze of the 70's. About the only thing left out was streaking. 13. "Sometimes I guess there're aren't enough rocks" 14. Haley Joel Osmentt/Forrest Jr. steals the show in "The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis. 15. Often when he's finishing a segment about death, he ends it by saying "That's all I have to say about that" 16 Keep in mind if Jenny wasn't wasting her life seeking men like her father and was with Forrest he/we wouldn't have had this incredible journey. You need to do the GOAT Tom Hanks in the GOAT, Stephen King's, "The Green Mile".
If you didn’t notice Lt. Dan had a beef with god for not letting him die with honor and being a cripple. He climbed the mast during the storm to taunt god and dared him to destroy the boss and kill him. Then, in the end Forrest tells us that he made his peace with god and truly started to heal.
This movie is about life. Its ups and downs throughout a man’s life. What’s really interesting is how they incorporate his life through America’s most famous moments in history. The film also has some great music soundtracks for each decade too. Anyone who was alive during those moments instantly will recognize the music from the decade. The character of Forrest Gump is a true kind and sweet human being. One of Tom Hanks’s best performances. If you’re looking for another good Tom Hanks movie I would suggest Cast Away. It’s a long movie with nearly 90% just him. But it’s very good. I’m surprised you both haven’t heard of the Bubbagump Shrimp Company chain restaurant. They’re all over the USA and exist because of this movie. They specialize in...yes...shrimp. But they serve other foods too. They are decorated with items from the movie. The first one I went to was in Monterey,CA. It had the famous bus bench out front with a Forrest Gump statue sitting on the bench. You could sit next to him and take pics.

Your welcome and your a survivor! Be proud of that 🙏🏼
Thank you so so much for understanding Jenny and not demonizing her.
I'm tired of the idea that just because you were traumatized that you get to traumatize other people, with free pass
It's the same as the serial killer who is like... yeah I was beaten as a child...
@@crystalscolza1663 It isn't selfish to make sure her kid is taken care of.
God bless 🙏🏼

Whenever he asks her if little forest is smart or “like me” … ugh it kills me. Breaks my heart - it makes you realize that he’s so highly aware of his place in the world and always has.
Same fam !
PLEASE leave me alone.”😅
Ya’ll should watch: “The Green Mile”, “Meet Joe Black”, “Powder”, “Michael”, “Phenomenon”, and “Bicentennial Man”.😊
Cried throughout this reaction.
I think he was going to tell his son "don't talk to strangers."
Like he told the bus driver his mother told him.
We’re all human 🤍🙏🏼
You deserve to not be perfect !

i really appreciate you being kind with jenny, so many people judge her and forget shes just horribly traumatized. i never even judged her for leaving forrest after they slept together because even though that really sucked, she finally had the strength to get better on her own because forrest taught her it was okay to feel safe and be good.
I think more people should indeed identify that
She is still trash
@@phueal she was very emotionally abusive to Forrest though. She said he doesn’t understand love when she didn’t all along
@@Ktaurus26 that doesn’t make her emotionally abusive, it makes her incorrect, and understandably so.
Tom Hanks is a legend for a reason. Saving Ryan's Privates and Forest Gump is great along with The Green Mile and Castaway just to name a couple more.
Lol Saving Ryan's Privates is a great movie, but Saving Private Ryan is Tom Hanks movie 😂
I watched this movie at age 10. It's so iconic. I'm so glad you both understood Jenny's pain. My husband and I watched it recently together and he kept saying that jenny was wrong to abandon Forrest all the time. But she runs from safety due to a trauma response. Forrest was a safe person for her and she was so used to not feeling safe that it felt uncomfortable to be with someone who genuinely cared for her
fun thing is as you get older and learn more about history, you'll understand more and more of the scenes in this film that you missed the first time. there are a ton of historic references in this film that as a really younger person just fly right over your head. there are so many things in this film..."shit happens" "'have a nice day shirt",watergate, nixon, johnson, kennedy, wallace, john lennon on cavett, the black panthers, abbie hoffman, etc. etc.
Well said 👏

I could totally quote this movie, it's infinitely rewatchable
It does my heart good to see young people understand and empathize with all the characters, and you knew most of the historical references. Best reaction to this movie I have seen. I am a 72 yr old Vuet Ban vet wgi grew up through all this.

"your childhood matters!" I've never heard that before mate! I hear what you're saying brother! If your childhood was a minefield... you know what this geezer is saying! Much respect pal!
Jenny runs from her problems and it's the advice she always gives to Forrest. It's only when she stopped running that things started to get better for her.
I love the fact that you never see Tom Hanks in this movie. Only Forrest Gump. Brilliant performance
I love this comment so much I even teared up a little bit. Thank you for sharing this.

Oh wow, that sounds amazing! ❤ Thank you so much for sharing, I hope it's okay that I made a screenshot. Will definetely try this out.
Some amazing films to consider:
The Banger Sisters (Susan Sarandon and Goldie Hawn AND no one has reacted to this film on RUclips yet. Severely slept on.)
The Color Purple (Whoopie Goldberg and Danny Glover)
The Secret Life of Bees (Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah, and more)
Mrs.Doubtfire (Robin Williams and Sally Field)
Shawshank Redemption was another rollercoaster movie of emotions.
Enjoyed your reaction. Love this movie. Seen it a number of times. AND, so happy you understood where Jenny was coming from. A number of reactors just got angry with her.
"Castaway" is another A+ Tom Hanks rollercoaster!
When you are so damaged that you are suicidal, there is no way in hell you are going to allow yourself to corrupt and destroy someone you love. Someone you love and is your best friend. Someone as pure and innocent as Forrest. Sometimes there just aren't enough rocks.
I met both,Gary Sinise and Mykilta Williamson while I was in the army, pretty cool experience, especially since Gump is a favorite movie of mine.
All of captain Dan's family died in each war he felt that was needed
Jenny is broken. Her less than ideal childhood left her damaged. I think she truly did love Forrest, but felt unworthy of his love.
She's so misunderstood. She told Forrest "you don't know what love means" she wasn't talking to him, she was talking to herself.
Awesome you guys watched this. We watched this in my U.S. history class in high school(11th grade). That was in 2001-2002.
Forrest's story is an analogy to life in general. We are all like that feather blowing in the wind. Beautiful and random, we all find meaning on our own.

Ya when she says to Forrest "You don't know what love is" it was Jenny who didn't know what love is because to her love was pain and abuse.
I use to watch this movie on abc family, but I definitely watch it my Junior year of High school in History class.
the best movies always bring out as many emotions as you have. they make you laugh, cry, be happy, sad, and if you can bring out all that then its a good movie.
Sally Field also played M'Lynn in Steel Magnolias along with Julia Roberts, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah, Dolly Parton and Shirley MacClaine.
Hey, Dr. Pepper is my jam, but if we're drinkin Root Beer I'll tear into it. Best I've ever had is at Shilo's Delicatessen. They serve it home made and in a mug so cold ice crystals form on the top
Hard To Believe It's Been 30 Years Since This Movie Came Out,Time Goes By, Great Reaction Guy's
I can quote it word for word lol
One if the best movies ever made!
I concur. Great movie.
I watched this movie a bunch of times in school
World history teacher showed us Saving Private Ryan. And I'm reasonably sure that ain't a school movie.
Enjoy! 😉👍
This was a great reaction. It’s my favorite movie and you both got it the entire time!
Fun fact, in France we use a lot the line “Run Forest, run!” (in french) when someone starts running 😂
So do we in the US! 😁
This really made me want to cry
I just lost my grandmother back in October of 2022...
Forrest was just a feather on a breeze. I'd read the book before the movie came out. Great book.
This was my first exposure to your channel. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you've done.
1. The music rights alone must have cost a small fortune💲💲
5. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😋
That's all I have to say about that."
11. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis, John Lennon, Abby Hoffman to Vietnam and Watergate. Even the jogging craze of the 70's. About the only thing left out was streaking.
13. "Sometimes I guess there're aren't enough rocks"
14. Haley Joel Osmentt/Forrest Jr. steals the show in "The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis.
15. Often when he's finishing a segment about death, he ends it by saying "That's all I have to say about that"
16 Keep in mind if Jenny wasn't wasting her life seeking men like her father and was with Forrest he/we wouldn't have had this incredible journey.
You need to do the GOAT Tom Hanks in the GOAT, Stephen King's, "The Green Mile".
Sally Field in Steel Magnolias is another gem. also Cast Away Tom Hanks is great in it.
I'm 100% sure almost every school showed this movie for educational purposes.
If you didn’t notice Lt. Dan had a beef with god for not letting him die with honor and being a cripple. He climbed the mast during the storm to taunt god and dared him to destroy the boss and kill him.
Then, in the end Forrest tells us that he made his peace with god and truly started to heal.
Great film, and l love the performance of Jenny, played by Robin Wright. Good reaction.
"You never know what you're gonna get." Check the inside of the top half of the box Forest, it usually tells ya what you're gonna get...
This movie is so iconic. Timeless and ahead of it's time. 💪🏼
I remember seeing this movie as a kid but I did watch this movie in highschool in my senior Dual credit history class.
This movie has so many quotes, box of chocolates, peas and carrots, run Forest run, I gotta find bubba, I was runnin, bubba's list of shrimp, etc etc.
I just came across your channel and this reaction is golden. Loved it. Keep the great content coming.
