  • Kiai is a powerful deep sound Karate Practitioners make while training or in battle.
    Depends on the style, the purposes of most Japanese martial arts and Kyokushin Karate including the "shouts" are Kiai and serve a couple different purposes: Contracts the diaphragm and chest which can allow you to take a hit better. Puts extra "energy" behind the strike as it causes you to focus on the moment of impact.
    Beginners are always encouraged to sai KAIA while practising kicks, punches or even combinations.

    When they are punching are they aiming for the opponent chest ? While punching like that aren't they open for a counter because arm not guarding there chin so there chin expose

      U always punch to the center, at least that’s how I’m taught in karate
