  • Ingredients required for paal kozhukattai
    *Ingredients:*
    - 1/2 cup raw rice
    - 1/2 cup jaggery (or same quantity as rice taken)
    - 1 cup coconut
    - Cardamom powder
    - Water
    *Steps:*
    1. *Prepare Rice Mixture:*
    - Soak 1/2 cup of raw rice in water for a few hours or overnight.
    - Grind the soaked rice into a fine paste.
    - Add 1/2 cup of jaggery to the ground rice and grind it together until well combined.
    2. *Prepare Coconut Milk:*
    - Grind 1 cup of coconut with water and extract the milk. You'll need approximately 1 cup of coconut milk.
    3. *Prepare Jaggery Syrup:*
    - In a pan, heat the coconut milk.
    - Add 1/2 cup of jaggery to the coconut milk and stir until the jaggery melts completely. Bring it to a boil and then remove from heat.
    4. *Cook Rice and Jaggery Mixture:*
    - In a separate pan, add the ground rice and jaggery mixture.
    - Cook this mixture on low heat, stirring continuously, until it reaches a dough-like consistency. This will take about 10-15 minutes.
    - Once the mixture thickens and forms a dough, remove it from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
    5. *Shape Dough into Balls:*
    - Once the dough has cooled down a bit, take small portions of the dough and roll them into small balls using your palms. Set aside.
    6. *Final Cooking:*
    - In a separate pan, bring the coconut milk and jaggery to a boil again.
    - Carefully add the dough balls into the boiling coconut milk and jaggery mixture.
    - Let it cook for a few minutes until the dough balls are cooked through and the mixture thickens further.
    7. *Serve:*
    - Once the kozhukattai is cooked and the mixture reaches the desired consistency, turn off the heat.
    - Serve the Paal Kozhukattai warm or at room temperature as a delicious South Indian dessert.
