Sobriety is being so good for his voice. He’s sounding so clean and also looks so much lighter and happier on stage. I love these guys so much, my favorite band in the world ❤
I agree he looks happier. But I really don’t think the particular tone of voice he’s using in this song really clicks

@@kieferrea4819 I’m actually a huge fan of the band and seen them live a few times here in Sydney. I wouldn’t quite say its an ‘acoustic’ set either as there is so much backing but I’ll leave my thoughts now haha 😆

this is so good. the last 45 seconds is pure fleetwood mac / tango in the night ‘87 era. they really are influenced by the best

it's funny how Matty gets nervous in front of small crowds but can slay full sold out shows like they're nothing. he says he can see everyone's eyes in a small crowd where as it's all blured when playing in front of a huge amount of people.
it's that and then this isn't their usual audience, so he can't be as frontman dramatic, plus this is an older demographic of viewers for this show. It's a number of things for his nerves here, but smaller crowds due seem to make him more shy and nervous for sure though.
@@isolars Yeah I agree . he's like this in all small venues tho. He admitted in an interview that I saw him do a while back.
if you've ever stood infront of a huge crowd, theres something about it that dehumanizes it, just looking at a big mass of people, it feels alot less personal and intimate, makes it alot easier to just shrug off nerves and do your thing like its not there.

These guys are old school. Proper band of proper musicians who write great pop music for young people (though I’m sure plenty of oldies enjoy it too).
They’ll go down in history like The Police, INXS, Duran Duran, and all the other great pop bands of the 20th Century
This is one of those tracks that seems 'simple' but actually if you looked at the composition and production of it it's clever. Like Fleetwood Mac etc.

For me, the official track is produced to sound like synthy stuff from the 70-80s just like some other songs throughout the years and it's probably not something you can practically do at live shows so they opt for this sort of version. Perhaps.
he's an excellent live performer imo he really shines live. kinda feel similar about hozier

Trying to comprehend how long i've been listening to this band for is so difficult because they keep putting out music that brings me back to a specific album of theirs. A very nostalgic feel, and a very enviable quality to their music.
Take the date of the first album of theirs you heard and work back from today.
I always love Matty's nostalgic voice that compliments the band's orchestrated instrumental.
time flies so fast. can’t believe that I saw them the first time 10 years ago in vienna and in the crowd were max a hundred people. matty was so nice, we talked for a little while and took a couple photos. since then I was almost every year on a concert and it was the best experience every single time. ❤

For 70 years I have listened to and watched astonishing music and performances. From The Beatles to Elbow via Dylan, Tamla, Faces...and countless other musical magicians. These guys are right up there with the very best. AND this particular performance is head and shoulders the best performance of 2022.

What a performer and emoter. I think this is their best era. Matty’s voice is the best it’s ever been. I continue to be floored by their lyricism. 6 albums deep and still going strong!
