I'm glad videos like this are around to remind me every 10 years or so what a profile is. Ha!

I got the goalie sam with 1/2 grind, dull the out edge. Best sharpen i have had in years! I have always used the front of the blade in BF for like toe flick pushes, goalie same made that much easier to catch the edge super fast vs standard steel.

How is the Ellipse profile compared to the SAM ?

So if I have a custom profile, or the Bauer Pro skate, and give my skate to my local rink or mediocre Peranis that don't have a Bauer pro shop, won't they completely destroy the custom radius?

In theory, they should not but a skate sharpener in the wrong hands....that's why a lot of goalies are going with multiple sets of blades so they can ship them to a place they trust. Of course we recognize that's an investment that not everyone can make.

In theory, a pro sharp or even a sparx sharpener *should * leave the profile intact. A standard sharpener with a ham fist behind it will likely destroy your profile.
