I remember getting back into net after my military time. The first 3 weeks of practice all that I did was skating drills and my feet. I didn't see a single shot til my coaches were satisfied that my feet were back under me. The worst was the power slides and the c cut recovery the length of the rink. Coast to coast rapid fire drills. About 73 minutes of pure hell everyday for 21 days straight but now that I have been playing again for a while I value the wisdom and time he took to make me a much better player and it still helps me to this day. I am starting to work with a few (adult) goalies along their travels and help where I can, but they're super new to skating and the first practice is always all skating. The feet are the building block that makes everything easier. If your skating and feet are good then you will play better. The feet carry you to be in the proper position to make the correct save selection.
Buddy was GASSED at the end there and I don't blame him one bit lol. So hard to keep your hands out and even use your brain at that point of exhaustion. One thing I noticed as I get older is how fast that exhaustion kicks in. Also so much easier to see how hands back makes for easy goals when watching someone else, but when it's you in net for some reason it's harder to control. Great lesson here.
Absolutely excellent video Nick! , so many things I have learned from your videos that are helping me identify my bad habits / weaknesses and fixing them👍🤘
As someone who is still so new to being a goalie (3 years, minimal ice time due to covid), I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate these videos! The techniques in your videos help me improve little details in my game every time I hit the ice!
Thank you for this video. You demonstrate or explain technique so that it makes corrections easy to understand, and more importantly, practical to incorporate. Great energy too.
I'am an new dek hockey goalie and I love see your video I learn so much even if it's not exacly the same sport ! Some techniques can by apply to dek hockey and I love trying to do things better !
THANK YOU for this!!! I’m still having trouble with my T-pushes and what you showed with the hand placement and everything at 10:20 onwards was very helpful! Where you demo’d the trunk rotation and said, “No….”, that’s exactly what I’m doing lol. Will work on it!
Anyway we can get a stance video and a skating/movement video. Back playing after 18 years and older and heavier and that’s what I’m struggling with the most
Great video coach: Question: when you are coaching, how do you slide so good in your power slides and butterfly pushes? Any tips on what kind of track pants (material) and knee pads you wear? I slide fine in pads, but in track pants and knee pads (plastic) can't slide for my life. Wonder if you have any tips? It would really help, merçi!
What profile do you recommend for goalie skate blades? I'm 6' 2", if that makes any difference. I have something like a 20' (front)/ 30' (rear) now. I like the shorter radius on the front, but the back feels "sluggish" when turning. I saw that someone on YT was suggesting a 13' radius. Was that you? Thank you.
This makes me want to jump on the ice and hammer down on some skating skills for an hour straight
What’s up Bonesy big fan i learn from your technique keep it up
You taking on the power-push for an hour challenge?
Refer to 12:47
@@Dahanhockey Dude was insane suggesting power pushes for an hour. C-Cut all day, anything with explosive movements is gonna be killer.

Amazing, longer videos are super nice
Great video.
My town!!! I work for Laval city...blue collar 😉
Anyway we can get a stance video and a skating/movement video. Back playing after 18 years and older and heavier and that’s what I’m struggling with the most
Is there science behind c cut from the goal line vs a t push or just coaching preference?
hahahaha @12:46 had me dying, not sure if the guy understood the question but Dahan's reaction was hilarious
Do you wear knee pads when you slam your knees on the ice ?! That’s insane. Also do you recommend any workouts or stretches for sore knees and hips?
he does i have the ones he has and it hurts a lot. this guy sacrifices so much for his goalies
goalie did a good job, where is he now dahan, 7 eleven or triple aaa or juniors ?
Finished his last junior hockey season. Performed well for the past 4 years.
Love your channel. 46 year old beer leaguer but still take private lessons from time to time. You allow older guys to train with you?

@Tyler Duffe thanks alot!
@Sasha Appoo [Student] thanks i use those and cant slide for shit lol!!
Great video! What kind of coaching knee pads are you using?
Our coaches use the Bauer Elite Knee Pads (discontinued)
Ton français est excellent!
This video makes me feel like I could play college hockey after watching one
Come to Los Angeles to Kings practice facility to coach a session!!!!!!
As a beer league goalie, this helps so much.
Great video - THUMBS DOWN for Montreal =P
Awesome
Merci

"You think you can power push for an hour? Eventually, you will be like this...and then you'll die" That explanation cracks me up
this coach is great, how much an hour 100$ , eze rite
Awesome stuff, what level is this goalie?
Eloi Bouchard
Do you have any off ice episodes?
U kinda look like josh Anderson
9:11 very good point
🔥
is this at bell place??
Oui
That's the arena where I practice 😅
I could care less
@1:20, turn head and look where you're going. Same with riding a motorcycle. The body follows the head and eyes.
More head more head!
i ride for my brothers ride!
5:27 bro he said what?
This guy needs to teach in full goalie gear so everyone is on the same page. Gotta practice what you preach.
