    Jordan Leckey Q & A
I chose the north channel because I had just won the global swim series and I was looking for a new challenge. I knew Chris had done it a Keith. Along with you running the operation so it seemed like the next logical step to me
Biggest distance training wise was in around 10km except for the qualifier which was 26km on the day. I didn’t do any really long training sessions. I went for consistent session distance but increased the amount of sessions.
Yes, I had the boat swimming coach in the whole country! Dorothey who had coached Chris before me has been my coach from I was probably not much older than 10/11. Honestly wouldn’t be doing anything like this without her
Hot feeds every time. It was difficult to get used to but it really provides a great boost mentally and physically when you’re in the channel.
No I didn’t have any nutritionists. I asked the people on the ground doing the marathon swims what worked for them and found what worked for me out of that.
Mindset before the swim is very much trying to stay relaxed, don’t think about it too much and just think about the work you have put in to get there and trust it
During the swim initially was fear of failure but going back to the mindset before you have to trust yourself and your team that this is possible and you just have to keep going. We drew motivational words on my arms that would give me a boost during the swim anytime I caught a glimpse. I was very much just thinking keep pushing on stroke by stroke and eventually you will get there. If you don’t stop you will hit land at some point!
After the swim is all a bit of a daze. The hype and buzz made it hard to put my achievement into context of me as a person and I think I still struggle with it to a degree. I think my advice would be to take the time to really appreciate the time, dedication and effort you and your team have put into this massive goal and enjoy it.

    Chris Judge Q & A
It was either NC or EC, NC was on my doorstep.
Biggest distance swam before NC 16k on my own (not recommended🤣) Camlough lake then my 6 hour horror / 20k Port Oriel
Coach Dot and Mentor Kieth Garry
All feeds hot, orange flavoured carb powder drink, flat coke, sugary tea.
Solids, (all bitesize) banana, jam sandwich, jam on outside too, slides down easier. Cadbury choc rolls. Fizzy paracetamol every 4 hours.
    Fed every 40 mins.
I had no nutritionist however I practiced feeds and done what worked for me
Mindset before swim SO NERVOUS!!! During swim never felt comfortable, always cold but was there with the mindset that it’s a days graft that’s gona payoff the rest of my life.
After swim would have got back into water 2 days after only shoulders and body took a bit of a beating.
Mindset was good enough to set smaller achievable goals.
