IVE GOT MY PEN AND PAPER AND IM READY FOR THE LIBRARY TOMORROW ( I just really love walking really fast with a list in my hand and going straight to the book and picking it up)
Books Mentioned: Station Eleven Carry On All the Light We Cannot See The Gentleman's guide to vice and virtue The Inexplicable Logic of my life Eliza and her Monsters The Perks of being a wallflower The Sun is also a Star 5. Vicious 4. The Strange and beautiful sorrows of Ava lavender 3. Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the Universe 2. Turtles All the Way Down 1. Night Circus
My TBR has honestly never been as long as it is since I started watching your videos because you have literally the best tastes and I trust you 110% 😂👌🏻
This is such a weird comment but your voice is so pleasent to listen to, it's like butter for the soul. Also, LOVED this video and thank you for making my TBR a mile long.
“The Night Circus” is my absolute favorite standalone book ever! Magical, gorgeous, and breathtaking are the best terms I can come up with to describe this wondrous novel
My favourite standalone books are: 1. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank 2. The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin 3. The Swallow by Charis Cotter 4. The Green Mile by Stephen King 5. Carrie by Stephen King. Who has read these books as well??
I read The Night Circus because of you and I loved it! I definitely read Eliza and Her Monsters at the right time in my life; I also struggle with anxiety, and I find comfort in drawing. Eliza is one of the most relatable characters I've ever read, and I cherish this book so much!
As someone who has OCD, I would say that turtles all the way down definitely portrays it pretty accurately. The only thing is, that you have to keep in mind that OCD is completely different for everyone who has it, so while the thought spirals are pretty common, the whole germs thing is kinda irrelevant to a good portion of people with OCD.
The way you talked about Turtles all the way down, IS what I love about reading. Seeing how a book can impact your life so much, and how much you can resonate with a book, is everything I adore about books. Something similar happens to me whenever I talked about Ari and Dante, there's no book that can compare to what it makes me feel everytime I re-read it. PS. I will be picking up Turtles all the way down, really soon.
I started reading it but at the start I was kind of bored. But I kept reading cause it wasn't bad either. And when I was halfway through, the story blew my mind away. It was amazing and now it's one of my favorite standalones.
Omg the way you talked about Turtles all the way down made me tear up!! I have anxiety as well and now I really need to read this book... it's wonderful when you find one that understands you, Im so glad you found it ❤️
Your description of Turtles All The Way Down almost made me cry. I really want to read it. I think I might buy it next time I have book buying money. Your videos also make me want to reread The Night Circus more than I already have. I read it 5 years ago and while the details are spotty, the magic of that book was something so wonderful for me. It's on my Christmas list this year, so I'm really hoping to get it (heck, 80% of my Christmas list is books and the rest is homeware). Literally half of your list is on my TBR haha :)
Eliza and Her Monsters and Carry On are two of my favourite stand-alones too! 😊 I had the same sort of experience with A Short History of the Girl Nextdoor as you did with Turtles All the Way Down, I felt like that book was made for me and reflected my own thoughts so well! 💗
I bet your TBR isn't as long as mine haahaa but I would recommend The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The movie doesn't do it justice. I really think you would love it.
Jem.in.a.Bookstore I’ve actually read it but it was so long ago that I don’t remember what happens which is why I didn’t include it on this list. I need to read it!
Hi Hannah!! I felt the exact same way about John Green- I had read a couple of his books, and honestly thought they were a little overrated. Then, in May of 2016 I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. I went back and reread The Fault in our Stars, and I can't explain how much it mean to me. Thank you for always making content that makes me feel a little more understood
I ordered Aristotle and Dante online as soon as I was done hearing your thoughts on it bcoz your opinion is always so perfect and I've liked every single book you've recommended that I've read
The Gentlemen’s Guide second book is going to be a continuation from where the first book left off but it’s from Felicity’s perspective apparently so I guess it’s just a companion that stands on its own 🤷♀️ That’s what I’ve heard anyway
TATWD fell short for me :/ not sure if it’s because I had my hopes too high because of all the hype or if it’s because I’m not a huge YA fan but I enjoyed it, I only wish there was a big WOW moment towards the end and there wasn’t
Hey, Hannah. I just wanted to thank you for recommending The Gentlemen's Guide to Vice and Virtue; I finished reading last week and I absolutely LOVED it!! And I also just finished The Inexplicable Logic of My Life, and I adored it, too, as I did Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (which has become a favorite). You have really excellent tastes! I wanted also, if you haven't tried it, to recommend John Green's Looking For Alaska. It's actually the first John Green book I ever read and remains a favorite to this day. And thank you for making me even more excited for Turtles All the Way Down than I already was! And, yes, I will read The Night Circus, I promise! It's on my TBR (along a lot of other recommendations by you) and I will get to it!
I have been trying to find someone with the same taste in books and I think I finally found that in you! Can't wait to read the books on this list, thank you!
all the light we cannot see is literally one of my all time favorite standalone books and I'm so happy to hear someone else loves it as much as I do! xx
It’s so precious to see a fellow reader who has these books that they just love SO MUCH and want nothing more than for other people to read and appreciate them as much as they do!
So glad to hear that Perks changed your life as well! and by the way I'd absolutely love to see a video from you about other books that have changed your life!
Currently listening the Night Circus audiobook! Almost done! And now I really wanna read John Green's new book. I was skeptical about it but I wanna give it a chance now that I've heard how much you enjoyed reading it! Take care! Can't wait for another video~
I read Turtles All the Way Down yesterday and as someone that suffers from depression and anxiety, I 100% agree with everything you said. Everything that Aza experienced from the therapy sessions to the panic attacks were as if they came straight out of my life. I can't wait to reread it 10 more times :)
I absolutely love Turtles all the way down too!!! John Green is one of my favorite authors. Think i should pick up The Night Circus because of u. And I'm planning on rereading Turtles too!🤣 Your voice is amazing 💖
I absolutely trust your opinions on all books one hundred percent. Since watching your videos I have gotten back into reading for pleasure and I can honestly never thank you enough💗💗
SO MANY GOOD BOOKS IN THIS LIST! And so fun listening to you talk about them. I just finished Station Eleven and Turtles- loved them both and they are new favorites of mine as well. Added The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender to my TBR list, love your description of this one!
Nisa sidek Adriana wrote a book on one of her ancestors . It’s about a witch named Sam , it’s mean girls meets Salem witch trials . She just did a twist on real events
@mahima rao the And I Darken series is just SO good. The idea is from the stories around Vlad the Impaler. Kiersten White took it and made him into one of the most impressive female characters: Ladislav Dragwlya.
I had the same experience with Turtles All the Way Down and I'm so glad you loved it. I personally was super excited for it because John Green is my all time favorite author and Looking for Alaska has been my all time favorite book for years. But the anxiety depiction was absolutely perfect and I too cried at many parts because they were just so relatable.
I saw this video a few months ago and decided to go into Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe and I'm *so grateful* I have never before cried while reading a book. It is one of the best books I have ever read. I couldn't stop talking about it and recommending it to everyone.
this is the first video i’ve watched of yours, and we have the same taste in books! I have read many of the books you mentioned! I’m so glad I found you! 💓
I am not a huge fan of paper towns either and the movie adaptation is worse but if you haven't tried Looking for Alaska, I think you should. That was my first John Green book and I love it.
Aristotle and Dante Discovers the Secrets of the Universe is my all time favorite book EVER. I've read it over ten times and every time I do I notice something new and I would DIE for these characters in every way possible
Aristotle and Dante and Eliza and Her Monsters are also some of my favourite stand alones (The Perks of Being a Wallflower is also my favourite movie ever, and I loved the book too), I think they both just make you really connect with the characters and I truly felt how they were feeling, during each part of the book I felt like I was there with them and that's honestly one of the reasons I love reading, they reminded me of why I love reading
After I read Turtles All The Way Down, I legit couldn't think of anything but the book. Lost all concentration in my college classes for a week thinking about it. I still have a hard time putting why I love it so much into words. Because when she was going into thought spirals (especially in the hospital) it felt horrible. It did feel like being in the middle of a panic attack. But John Green has always had a way with words (both in writing and out loud) that is magical. His writing is real and heart-wrenching and beautiful all at the same time. 10/10 stars!!
I would love for you to make a video about The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I also read the book at a very specific time in my life and because of Charlie’s story I decided to seek help. Love you lots ❤️
Yes, PLEASE make a video about books that have changed your life or have shaped you into who you are. I love hearing about the impact books have on people's lives.
when you talked about Turtles All The Way Down i literally cried because i relate to your opinion so much and i love everything you said. i couldn’t put my feelings into words after reading the book but you did it for me and i’m so thankful for that. aaah. i feel so dramatic but i love it so much and i just can’t help it.
We read Perks simultaneously with Catcher in the Rye in my high school English class and wow. Both of those to read as a teenager were so impactful, I will never forget those stories
THE NIGHT CIRCUS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVES TOO!!!! Although lately it was topped by Call Me By Your Name but the night circus is still top 5 and will forever be in my heart.
After you mentioned „turtles all the way down“ and said what it’s about, I immediately knew, that I have to read it, because I have OCD and really want to know how John Green put it into words ....
I love these types of videos and I’ve read so many of these because of you!🥰 All the Light We Cannot See, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue (read the sequel it’s amazing!!), and The Sun is Also a Star are all favorites of mine too!!😍😍 and I love the Perks of Being a Wallflower movie and need to read it!!I’m planning to read Eliza and Her Monsters soon! I also enjoyed Turtles All the Way Down; I too have OCD and am so happy to see own voices representation of it! I don’t really connect with John Greene’s writing however, so I didn’t love it as much as I hoped to. Two standalones I recommend are Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone which also is about a girl with ocd and never have I felt more seen in my life and it really changed my life❣️I also recommend Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, I just finished it and it was fantastic and has great discussions of important themes and I think you’d love it!❤️as always, everything I haven’t read on this list is ofc on my TBR and I think I’m going to read The Night Circus soon as well!
Oh my god, I ADORE All the Light We Cannot See. PLEASE READ THE BOOK THIEF BY MARKUS ZUSAK. It's so beautifully written, set during World War II, and narrated by Death. It has, ever since I read it, been my all-time absolute favorite book!
You completely sold me on Turtles all the way Down. I am not really a fan of John Green books except for the Fault in our Stars ( which I also read at like 12 ) but I am going to buy this book now the next time I see it in a bookstore :)
I just finished The Night Circus the other day and I adored it. It was so wonderfully written and I found myself invested in the story and characters the entire time. I don't think I ever would have discovered the book if I didn't see your previous videos talking about it. Thank you for inspiring me to read it! I think it's definitely become one of my top books that I've read this year.
I'm currently listening to the audiobook of The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue and I am LOVING it! I absolutely love Monty's snarky humour and how unconsciously self-centred he is. I'm excited to see where the story goes!
I’ve been reading all the books you suggest. I’m a new fan of yours and I Love should so much. I take screen shots of the books or download your vids, 😂
The strange and beautiful sorrows of Ava Lavander I loved it! I'm currently reading the night circus because you recommended it so much that I HAD to start reading it
if you're looking for a book that makes you think and that challenges all of your previous beliefs regarding race, class, and privilege, I cannot recommend enough Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. This novel is absolutely amazing and completely turned me inside out.
Can someone who has OCD who has read Turtles All The Way Down tell me how well OCD was depicted in the novel and if they related to it? I've been OCD diagnosed for three years and I've been looking for a good book dealing with mental illness, mainly OCD, to pick up. I'm aware that John Green has OCD, but OCD comes in all different shapes and forms and affects everyone in different ways, making it difficult to write about. Thank you in advance.
Aww. I was tearing up when you started talking about ‘Turtles All the Way Down’. It was definitely his most character-driven story so far. I thought it was great, but I definitely preferred ‘Looking For Alaska’. In many ways, opinions on John Green’s books are very subjective to people’s backgrounds, experiences and personalities. So in the same way you found comfort in TATWD, I found that same sort of feeling reading ‘Looking For Alaska’. I know it’s not for everyone, but it has one of the most beautiful depictions of bereavement I’ve ever read about in any book. Highly recommend it. Thank you for this video and thank you for continuing to get me into all these great books, some of which you showed in the video! I honestly cannot thank you enough. x
I’m turning to your videos to find books to read while my husband is deployed. I love reading and how it takes you away from your world and into another one. Have a book to read for every month that he’s gone will make the time go by so much faster
I just finished reading The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender and I cannot thank you enough for recommending this book. It became one of my favorites, I will recommend it to others and hope they read it and love it. It is so beautiful, from the way it’s written to the story itself. It made me feel so many things, happiness, sadness, anger, and in the end hope.

Looking for Alaska was my favorite john green book before Turtles all the way down came out. LFA is one of those books that hit me hard

You finally convinced me to eventually read the night circus
I would love for you to make a video about The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I also read the book at a very specific time in my life and because of Charlie’s story I decided to seek help. Love you lots ❤️
Yass queen !! Back at it again with the amazing video 😍😘🙌🙏
Yes, PLEASE make a video about books that have changed your life or have shaped you into who you are. I love hearing about the impact books have on people's lives.
My favorite book is The Night Circus! Love it!💕
when you talked about Turtles All The Way Down i literally cried because i relate to your opinion so much and i love everything you said. i couldn’t put my feelings into words after reading the book but you did it for me and i’m so thankful for that. aaah. i feel so dramatic but i love it so much and i just can’t help it.
I love love LOVE 'The Sun is Also A Star' by Nicola Yoon- I'm so happy that you also love this book :)
We read Perks simultaneously with Catcher in the Rye in my high school English class and wow. Both of those to read as a teenager were so impactful, I will never forget those stories
I can’t wait for my family’s reaction to the amount of books I have on my wish list.
Mine tooo..... it's way too much
I already bought The Night Circus and I can't wait to read the book! Hearing so many good things about it and you recommend it. ❤
IM SO HAPPY THAT CARRY ON IS GETTING A SEQUEL IN OCTOBER ! AGGGHHH!
I love and miss your videos so much! I hope we can get an updated version of this video! Stay safe. Much love ❤️

Me: *immediately subscribes*
You completely sold me on Turtles all the way Down. I am not really a fan of John Green books except for the Fault in our Stars ( which I also read at like 12 ) but I am going to buy this book now the next time I see it in a bookstore :)
Yay it's nice to see your beautiful face again. I'm going to read the Night Circus because of you.
thank you for uploading this today😊 these pass couple of weeks have been incredibly hard for me and seeing your face always brightens my day
Thank you for this, im having a bad day at work and seeing your beautiful face and beautiful smile makes me feel a little better. I Love you girl ❤
You make ME feel better! Thank you lovely
Have you read The Book Thief? If not, you should! It’s my favourite book ever
I'm currently listening to the audiobook of The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue and I am LOVING it! I absolutely love Monty's snarky humour and how unconsciously self-centred he is. I'm excited to see where the story goes!
Hannah - "Flu kills everyone"
Me in 2020 - "sounds like the corona virus"
You are so right about The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue.
Preordered The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy. Can’t wait!!!
I’ve been reading all the books you suggest.
I’m a new fan of yours and I Love should so much. I take screen shots of the books or download your vids, 😂
your voice is EVERYTHING
The strange and beautiful sorrows of Ava Lavander
I loved it!
I'm currently reading the night circus because you recommended it so much that I HAD to start reading it
Station eleven is one of my favorites! I’m so happy with how you described/summarized it.. and I agree how underrated it is!
if you're looking for a book that makes you think and that challenges all of your previous beliefs regarding race, class, and privilege, I cannot recommend enough Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. This novel is absolutely amazing and completely turned me inside out.
Danielle Espinosa It’s already on my TBR!!
A Clockwork Reader ah! I'm so excited for you! And more excited for your review 😁
Pacquio figth
The moment you said Night Circus I screamed omg that’s my favorite book. You described it perfectly, it’s just so whimsical to read! I love it so much
Can someone who has OCD who has read Turtles All The Way Down tell me how well OCD was depicted in the novel and if they related to it?
I honestly cannot thank you enough.
x
I find it funny that a few of these are no longer stand-alones.
I’m turning to your videos to find books to read while my husband is deployed. I love reading and how it takes you away from your world and into another one. Have a book to read for every month that he’s gone will make the time go by so much faster
I bought The Night Circus and OMGGGGG it’s sooo goood 😭😭😭
I just finished reading The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender and I cannot thank you enough for recommending this book. It became one of my favorites, I will recommend it to others and hope they read it and love it. It is so beautiful, from the way it’s written to the story itself. It made me feel so many things, happiness, sadness, anger, and in the end hope.
