  • King Suryavarman II, who reigned from 1113 to 1150, was one of the most illustrious rulers of the Khmer Empire. Renowned for his deep devotion to Hinduism, he commissioned the construction of Angkor Wat, a monumental temple dedicated to Vishnu, which stands as a testament to his architectural vision and religious piety. Under his leadership, the Khmer Empire expanded its territory through successful military campaigns, including a notable victory over the Champa Kingdom. Suryavarman II also demonstrated diplomatic brilliance by establishing strong trade alliances, transforming Angkor Wat into a regional hub and center of prosperity. His reign marked a golden era of cultural, economic, and military achievements, leaving an enduring legacy in the chronicles of Southeast Asian history. 1. Civil war between the internal Khmer
      2. Convert religion from Hinduism to Buddhism
      3. The sabotage of Youn vn and Siem thai, they can't occupy the whole empire but invasion part of it
      4. Weather change.

My beloved mother nowadays is 86y.o! She use to tell a bedtime story about our Khmer Empire histories since I was 8 y.o. She recall that our Khmer Kings are very powerful and productive. She mentioned that during the reign of our Khmer Empire Civilization they were 4 many kingdoms from neighboring people were having a spiritual battle competition ,among from the 4 kings of neighboring countries theirs Kings lost the spiritual battle
And they were all killed but only Khmer King withstand the spiritual competition and survive , since then China dynasty has shown tremendously respect and always honor Khmer kings legacy until this modern day China remain close tie to Khmer Kingdom this is an legacy that we are all Kun Khmers shall always embrace the strong mighty of our Khmers Kings lineage .

I am sure they built the moat first, then brought the stones. The Srivijaya empire was conquered by the Javanes Sailendra in the late 9th century.
