I believe you are 100% correct about social media and over the road driving. It’s not the same as it used to be. A lot of drivers don’t even have cb radios anymore which is an important part of trucking in many ways. It’s also become more about me, me, me instead of helping each other out!
You hit the nail on the head. I'm not truckin' anymore due to my health. But the CB was a big part of truckin'. I still run a CB in my pickup. Some of the best conversations have been had on my CB. Just wished it was like when I was running and everyone had one in there truck. Glad to see you are keepin' it old school and still have one in your truck. And it's a KW the worlds best.. Had to say it. You mentioned about the new truck and the def system. Personally I would stay with the beautiful KW you have right now because I have heard a lot of bad about the new trucks with the regen. Just hope yours don't have any problems.
Very enjoyable video. Boston Trucker, you and the 717 Trucker from PA. show the real work and skill of a professional truck driver by getting in and out of tight places with backing skills.
What's up Boston Trucker, mighty fine driving and operating, heck I bet a rookie could do that too, LOL 🤣. Looks like you guys are busy, that's a good thing, so they say. Well stay safe out there my friend and keep the videos coming and always travel safely catch you on the next one.
You're right on the perspective of the experienced drivers who will criticize the rookie driver before lending a helping hand. An automatic truck pays my bills and I love my local instate driving job. I drove manuals and automatics in the Army. If they were good enough for our country, they are good enough for me. You're "Famous" in a positive way!
As a new driver (11 mos) coming from sales industry, I wave to every dump truck I go by. Just want to make as many connections as I can. Never know when you’ll catch up with them and they’ll remember you as the guy in (insert truck) who always waves. Just moved from driving in NH to MA and actually saw you driving on RT2 going west as I was going east. I waved at you however you were looking in the opposite direction 😂
Well your not legendary like Bob Spooner (yet ) but you show trucking in a positive way. There are paycheck driver's that do it because it's just a job and then you have guy's like you that are trucker's because they love the industry. Thank's for highlighting the great people and things in the trucking industry. Have a great weekend Mike.
The company I drive for has been switching to automatic trucks. I was told that their goal is to be 100% automatic by the end of next year. I'm holding on to the manual as long as I can. I've met a few RUclips truckers in person over the past few years, and it was great to do so. Great video as always, Stay safe, and have a good one.
One of the guys I used to work with is still holding on to his KW 2015 vintage 800,000 miles on it. Local trucking. Says he's not going to give it up until he retires. He's 63. Maybe they'll let him go and keep it
@christrella3134 I'm currently driving a 2016 Mack Pinnacle. It has an Eaton Fuller 10 speed, has just over 472,000 miles. The past couple of months I was driving a 2018 Mack Pinnacle, it had just over 644,000. (That truck was driven primarily by a over the road driver before me). Holding on to the manual as long as I can.
Mike, another great video. It was nice meeting you in Scarborough at the truck show. I hope you enjoyed the Hannaford hat. I see where you threw me in your video. That was funny. Happy trucking.
I've been watching you since you had like 3,000 subscribers, anyone can drive up and down the interstate but what intrigued me about you was the places you had to back into, Plus I like the way you say blinka LOL
Hey Rockstar Mike, were you able to get a "weed burner" exhaust on the new truck??? Wish ya could've made it to the Mayberry truck show, it's that same weekend as yours....🤷🏻♂️
Can we place bets on the new truck: Delivery date, First load date, First “ check engine light” date, first “parked re-gen” request date”, first “de-rate” warning on dash date,. After treatment is fun and keeps service departments busy and raises employment.
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Always good to see what you are doing & that you’re enjoying the trucking life. A NEW truck…hope to hear more about it. What was ordered for you…KW, Mack, Pete? I’m not much of an automatic semi guy, but I wouldn’t turn an automatic down. It has its place in those tight city runs. The worst thing about the new trucks is the crazy DEF units! Most of the guys I know don’t care at all about it! There will be a day where one of your fans asks you to pull over for a quick chat. If I catch you out there, you know I will do that!! Just keep it REAL & don’t forget where you came from. It’s about time for me to get back on my truck…many lug nuts to break loose & brakes to unstick. Blessings my friend.🥰🤩✌️
Love your vids. You guys are right almost no more cb's. I'm retired in Jacksonville, Fl and east of 95. Spent a whole day in my garage with cb on and squelch dialed back and never heard a word all day ! I have a Big Stick on a 20 foot pole and nothing ! Everyone is watching their stupid smart phones and running into each other !!
enjoy the wknd mike! Always good to chat it up with some guys @ the Lexington service plaza, met a guy from Texas last week that was cool as hell! " Man, ya'll drive like assholes around here" !! welcome to Boston I said lol
I drive an automatic because that’s all my company is buying anymore. When I transferred terminals I begged to take my manual Kenworth with me, but they weren’t having it. It just doesn’t feel like trucking anymore.
Really enjoy your videos. I worked for Clean Harbors and was out in Braintree & surrounding areas. Really like when you stop by and interview guys that have shops & trucking companies . Keep up the good work . A viewer from the Tall Corn State.
It's so different from the 70's early 80's. Most people don't have the choice in transmissions. The truck shows attract alot of us who drove the trucks in the shows. Some people might want to look at the company's that aren't around anymore. DEF? Don't run out. If you do get really low? Put a couple gallons of spring water in the tank . The yellow engine light will come on, and you'll lose some power, but make it back to the yard. Our shop foreman taught us that afew years into the DEF thing. It's 75% water. But not distilled water or tap water which has chlorine in it.
I definitely make friends running down the road striking up conversations on the CB more than at the counter these days. Also, you will have plenty of opportunities to learn about DEF… and the awesome sensors.
I’m really enjoying the videos. I have 5 years hauling 4 axle lead trailer. Also plenty of OTR miles. Does your company require you all to clean your truck’s or is it just your preference? Nice work ethic! Keep the videos coming….
Our daughter that has a brain tumor had surgery. My husband was hoping he would see you. He loves to watch you. You made his day.❤ 17 hr drive back home for us.
New trucks are nice, just be warned, if it has disc brakes, they make dust, every morning im wiping the dust off the front wheels, the new radio isnt bad but its all touchscreen
Dump trucking is fun and ok till it rains and things get wet and muddy it makes for some long days not to mention getting you and your truck dirty and nasty 😢😢😢😢
Unfortunately Mike, I think the majority these days are drivers that just have a "job". They dont care and dont even know anything about trucks. Even the one that they are driving! I appreciare you, and others who do give a shit. RUclips has made it more fun for old retired guys like me. Take care. Todd Konoske the retired trucker.
We had 2 single axle KW's at Sharp Air Freight. They were Green automatic's . No sleeper . We did round trip Boston to DHL Jamaica NY .. Them little trucks were as fast as the Large Cars.
So, what are they going to do with the W900 #70 you have? Keep it around have another driver drive it and as well have the same respect you give for the truck you had for years?
Your Cool Mike but your getting involved in some weirdness LOL I guess we all have out quicks there is another RUclipsr his name is Mike from Louisiana he hauls petroleum in a gorgeous Pete 389 he is a hands on company driver treats that rig like it was his own I put him onto your Mop & Glo tire shine secret I don’t know how pleased or not he was on that suggestion but his channel is life on 18 wheels anyway you guys are of the same Caliber of wheel men
You’re new truck will arrive and they’ll assign it to Teddy you’ll get the Mack lol. It’s amazing where you guys shove your trailers into on the resi jobs like the one where you we’re loading out the material yourself. Made me laugh a little you had to walk in the mud to get to the hoe we all know you are not a fan of getting dirty 😂
I'd love a longer trailer like I had Boston Bark but yeah, we go in a lot of tight places so it wouldn't make sense. Getting dirty is part of the deal but I'm always thinking ahead to when and how am I gonna clean this mess.
W.L. French from N. Billerica, MA they're a huge excavation and trucking company, they pretty much run dirty dump trucking in our area, my truck is an old French truck.
Mike awesome camera shot of the BLACK SMOKE 😎
Yeah, the new one won’t smoke or sound as good 😂
Thanks pal
Not even a little.

Thank you, if it were my choice I'd drive this truck another 10 years but the new one will be a nice retirement truck for me hopefully.
Thanks for the show Mike, you're allowed to send greetings to your wife anytime
You bet!
Good morning Mike! Coffee with the you on Saturday morning! Hopefully you are a good family weekend!

Nice Christmas present and enjoy the Def and Regenning cycles
Happy holidays! 😆💯
The Boston Trucker doing it all. Has Rose had some seat time in the excavator?
Then you wouldn’t have to do it all. Your thoughts?
✌️ and Grease
I've been pushing for her to get some seat time but I don't think it's happened yet.

Good question💯
Another good one Mike !! What does the alcohol do for the aluminum ?
Cleans it beautifully and I feel like it gives it a nice shine after but it does evaporate quick when it's hot so you have to spray and wipe fast.
Thanks I will have to try that .
I’m a fan Mike love your work ethic and positivity!
Looks like an episode of this Old House
Hahaha
Hey Mike, when does the new truck arrive? Can't wait to see it 🧨💣
Probably around the end of the year.

Hasn't been conceived yet, end of year should be built.
Nice shirt mike
Thank you
And you are going to have to be careful with the def you get it on your truck it turns to a white powder when it dries and is hard to get off
Not looking forward to the cleanups.
@TheBostonTrucker not fun that's for sure
