yzs havent changed a whole lot since 21st century engine wise. just goes to show you how far ahead of their time they actually were. it is the best overall engine in the 125 class
common 2 strokes dont have rev limiters, like 65’s, 85’s and 125’ swill just sputter as it cannot push no more rpm, some 2 strokes that are fuel injected instead of carb can reach rpm’s much higher than carburated bc of the fuel pump in fuel injected types, which makes companies add rev limiters for two strokes, so to just let you know there is some 2 strokes that have rev limiters.
Yeah it's not an actual rev limiter like on a modern 4 stroke rather when the cdi ignition reaches a certain point , it cuts the spark off for an instant until revs dip back below the limit, but man, this looks like a 99 or 2000 model yz125 and these bikes were the absolute best back then and I can see why in this video how awesome it sounds, jetting is spot on, and loads of power , mind you seem to be only bout 89 pounds soaking wet, but u sure can rip a 2 stroke like a champ!!!!!.....like your style....WAS THIS THE ORIGINAL MOTOR OR WAS IT REBUILT AT SOME POINT???
Zane Zinn 2 STROKES CANT HAVE REV LIMITERS. THEY DONT HAVE OVERHEAD VALVES OR CAMS. THERE IS NO WAY TO LIMIT THE SPEED OF THE PISTON FROM THE CRANK WITHOUT LETTING OFF THROTTLE. REED/POWER-VALVES CANNOT CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE CRANKSHAFT, THEREFORE NO LIMITING THE SPEED OF THE PISTON IN THE CYLINDER!
@@ChrisC1946 and what limits the rpm of a typical 2 stroke is the carburetor size, reed valve size, exhaust size, and flywheel velocity.the ktm exc tpi it an exception because it has a real rev limiter
That's how Yamaha jets their bikes from factory, u will notice most tamis have tht distinct crispy, zingy, lean sound which is an original and unique tone that sounds different from all other 2 strokes and it's mainly in the design of the powervalve system and how the exhaust moves thru the system it gets attenuated by the power valve movement which makes for tht distinct lean sound so I will say this bikes sounds perfect and is not lean.........if it were lean, at idle it would be neutered and dead sounding, and surgey, and will have a bwaaaaah-- bwahhh, sound tht is repeated and your air screw is def almost perfect, if u moved air screw 1 or 2 more turns out, u will then heat what lean RRALLY SOUNDS LIKE.........
Do they even make rev limiters for 2 strokes and if so how and what kind of rev limiter could I get for the yz125 and i see a whole bunch of people that will do a top speed run with the yz125 and they say they are afraid they will blow the engine so how do you not blow a 2 stroke engine
WOW there is a lot of misinformation here, yes some more modern 2 strokes DO have rev limiters, most often it’s controlled by ignition or lack there of at a certain RPM. As for this specific model and year of YZ, I don’t know. However a blanket statement of 2 strokes don’t have rev limiters is complete nonsense. I work on rev limited equipment on a weekly basis.
Even the old ones sound just as crisp🔥🔥🔥mine isn’t too far off for being an ‘08

GOD TWO STROKES SOUND AMAZING
Especially on quads and three wheelers

@@bikeandfarm2940 Are you ok? Everyone knows 2 strokes sound good.

No, since that comment I have fallen in love with 2 strokes.
Whenever I hit the “ rev limiter “ which doesn’t exist on a 2 stroke btw, it sounds like it’s gonna blow up 😂😂😂I’ve got a 01 yz125
I just bought an 01 yz125...first bike ever
do some research

same😂 mines a 99 sounds like she’s gonna blow but you can’t kill those older 125s
@@nygametime2991 that bikes revved out it doesn’t have a revlimiter

People always be capping about steel frames, but they’re so sick! I got an 06 but always love these steelies
in most cases steel is actually lighter cuz it takes less to be the same strength as aluminum. KTMs are the lighest and they have steel frames
Music to my ears

Two strokes don't have rev limiters😤
Some do
Zane Zinn no. They don’t have a cam or over head valves. You can rev them till they blow
@@Kick.Blacklist yes some do have revlimiters.... my 2017 te300 has a revlimiter

that is not a rev limiter.it is a rev limit. because of physics
