There's still the satellite communications. Everyone who ventures away from any solid celluar coverage should Absolutely have a Satellite Communicator!
Totally agree. That's one area where I've been lacking, I need to get one of those for myself. The crew has them when we shoot the TV show, but I don't have one for solo trips
I absolutely hate the privatization of our parks forests and trails. Being old enough to see the differences over the yrs, is frankly depressing. The money will end up in the hands of private companies to manage/restrict continue to enforce narratives about protecting areas that have been wild for centuries at this point. Passes and permits are a complete pia, unfair taxation, and seek to control. Wilderness areas under that naming convention, end up having access reduced and in the light of creating a better experience reduce number of sites available. The entire program moves to reduce the number of overnighters in the hinterlands, maintaining day use activity, cash flow, and that false sense of i know the wilderness through getting access to it while being within a day of the vehicle and cell service. The cost of actual maintenance in wilderness or forest is really only road maintenance and then after that derived by human interference and planning. So we could spend alot less. There was the robertson-pitcarin act that put taxes on sporting goods from hunting and fishing, and this is the biggest supply of money to the federal government for managing wildlife/wilderness/forests. We don’t need more management from the gov’t. Nothing they do helps
“I don’t think we’ll see much bad come from it” I wish I was as positive as you but further privatization in my opinion is not going to be good for anyone other than those looking to make profit.
while permits are good for funding it is a shame that it excludes people who don't have the resources to get one. i also think that just becuase someone pays for the service of national parks/forests doesn't mean they'll respect it- working in the service industry has taught me that people of all backgrounds can be destructive and entitled. kitty is very cute though ~

Just a reminder that the lifetime Interagency Passes are free for disabled veterans. Just show proof of disability at any Ranger Station.

My favorite benefit!
Should be free for all seniors as well. We've paid our dues!

I would love to hear you talk about your hiking/outdoors plans for 2025 in a future video! :D
Still getting some of that worked out but it's shaping up to be a cool year!
We all know who the star of this show is......hi kitty.
She's sneakily trying to be the BPTV mascot

Your arms are distracting me from the information 🤯
*Arnold accent* gotta get PHUUMPED
I've seen a lot of comments here, but so far, no one has asked the most important question. What is kitty's name?
She goes by tweetie, dingus, donkle, stinkto, girl, and cat.

80 bucks for a pass is a lot to ask and I should have addressed that, too. I doubt that's getting better but here's hoping
And she says thanks
A map & compass works better just learn land nav
For trail navigation, absolutely. But my goodness do rural roads get confusing at night ha
Dont forget leg day 😊
Never. It's today, actually.....
First?
Probably
Why should we pay the government for something provided by nature for free?
Because it costs money to manage the natural spaces so that you can enjoy them. So it’s either more taxes or you pay a small fee.
@@tv92taylor Pure BS.
