We got the best Mother’s Day gift someone could get - Second Still playing a moody live set for us on the outskirts of nowhere. In a dark cement hollow with a single massive hole in the roof casting down a shaft of light, Suki San, Alex Hartman, and Ryan Walker work their vibrating magic with booming bass lines and distant guitar. Suki’s vocal will lull you into a trance. May 15 2017.

Ok so we’re all in agreement of their possible influences. The fact is everyone is influenced by earlier musicians, literally everyone. But the fact remains, Second Still have a sound of their own. They have their own thing and they do it well.

I had a long winded comment.. but to summarize it.. They are playing within a genre of goth rock.. and thats just fine...we love it.

Anyone can be influenced by certain bands or a scene, but to create uniquely compelling music is true art. This band are absolutely wonderful.

I hear some influence of the UK based Post-Punk sound, but I don't think you sound exactly like Siouxsie or anyone else. I think you sound like YOU; I see no need to specifically compare you to anyone. Also, If anyone gives you crap for your beautiful, dark sound, please tell them I said that they can piss off. Rock on, Second Still!

I don’t think people compare them. It’s a compliment if anything and their sound is just reminding people of bands they liked which does recall siouxsie, Xmal and Cocteau twins.its only normal to think so and it gives other people a sense what they would be like as welll as liked by. Don’t take it to heart my dark child
lol @ "some influence". It's a direct rip off and even though I think that, what they are doing isn't bad. It's actually really good, but I've already heard it done a lot better by the people this group is getting "some" of their influence from.
@@runawayuniverse it's a very difficult style of music to find your "own sound" I think they did pull it off tho in my opinion. I can hear their music anywhere and know its Second Still.

Para quem teve a oportunidade de viver a cena alternativa dos anos 80 no Brasil, quando a cena alternativa mundial ainda estava em construção, a banda Second Still tem um som nostálgico. Eles lembram bandas como Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Bauhaus, Arte no Escuro, Violeta de Outono entre outros. Muito bom!!, é a certeza que a raiz plantada nos anos 80 permanece viva.
As I read somewhere else it's Siouxsie voice inside an X--Mal Deutschland ambience.

100% they sound like Siouxsie & the Banshees in the very early days.
Not so much the Cocteau twins though, I’m a massive die hard Twins fan myself. Definitely post punk sound as a band though.
I get a Garlands feel fused with Peel Sessions.

This is a cool discovery for me. I"m digging the music and the vocals. I try not to make a comparison while listening to this for the first time, and read some of the other comments and am also a long time S &TB's Fan... That being said, Second Still, have a perplexingly updated look and yet, thankfully a fresh, but familiar sound, that rings from the Post Punk days. While I was listening, and working on a project, I jumped right back over to thinking Suki, sounds remarkably like Souxsie on a number of the songs, and that is meant as a compliment. I really like their sound.

Her voice is amazing , missing persons and Siouxie tones are awesome here. The band is intense and the writing is pure brilliance. A must for my collection.

Sigo sin entender por qué mencionan tanto a siouxsie como referencia a esta banda. Para mi no suena a siouxsie, por que para los demás si? O es que la cultura musical dela mayoría solo llega a eso?
Sí tenés cultura musical seguro escuchaste Siouxsie y no podés negar que tiene decidida influencias de los primeros discos de esa banda como también de Cocteau Twins, Joy Division, the Cure (primeros discos), etc. Señor :destape sus oídos! Esto tiene como primer nombre Post Punk. Clarito como agua de arroyo
