Thanks - much more straightforward than the "copying code" options other help videos suggest. Just had to install the small 7-zip software, it shows up as an option when you click on folder, do the steps, find the new 2.7z file in the same path you pulled the folder from, etc. Trust this guy, he makes things simple and I feel a lot better storing my/my family's personal info now.
I know how to protect an archive. I want to protect a FOLDER. Not the same thing now is it?
Yea agreed this doesn’t work for me😪
Right? This is such a lame video, I thought everyone already knew how to do this. I simply want a folder which behaves like any other Windows folder except it's inaccessible without a password. This is easily done in Linux.
@@dotheyfloat9961 this is exactly what you describes lol XD
It is
I wanted to put a password on a folder, not an archive lol.
same
Simple and straight forward! Thank you so much. I "knew" there was a way to do it, but I didn't want to bother my son to tell me how. Thank you for an easy to listen to and follow video!
Very helpful thank you
This is quite a bad way of protecting folders with a password. Remember that when you open and/or edit a file through 7zip, an uncrypted copy of the file is created on the \AppData\Local\Temp folder of your computer... even if your 7zip is protected with a password.
Do you have suggestion sir?
Thank you. This video was very helpful. How to add files to this password protected folder?
As you described, when the password-protected archive is created, the password is indeed requested when the archive is opened. However, I've noticed that once the password is accepted, and the archive is closed, the password is no longer requested when reopening the archive. Reproduced using Windows 10.
Is there any way to do it inside Windows explorer? I hate the view of 7zip or other zip/rar programs
this helped thanks
thank you bro
not working on mine
It worked me
Great video. One question I have to ask can you share your password protected folders to other people. So by giving them your password they have access to the folder if shared or do they have to download 7-zip to acces the file?...great video again!!!!
no need to download the 7zip if they open it and they know the pass they can open it.
I did it! Thx...1st try too!...if I can do it on a 1st attempt....it's a good F'n video!
Sweet! 😊
tooooooooop
👍
Why did you zip it twice? Couldn't you just put a password on it the first time?
What if we deleted 7zip by mistake?
I have mine backed up to a flash drive that is password protected as well
Its cool
Is there any way I can protect my files this way and still see the file miniatures? Maybe with the file explorer?
zip it
the file not your mouth-
@@lucasdcatch4063 lmaooooo🤣
isn't working, makes a file my computer cant recognize.
because you have to extract the files outside to open it
Just a commercial...Now you are locked to this company. Do you really want that?
They're not mentioning that compression reduces the original quality.
compression is used for archival purposes, once you uncompressed a file it retains the original quality. also if you payed any attention to the video you can control the level of compression of which he turned off entirely.
@@frozenfridge3943 For zipping, you're right, but the likelihood of losing bits of file data increases the chances of resulting in file errors.
RIP to those who don't have 7-zip program like me lol
Same here..no help at all.. using a software is easy
It's a really useful program and it's free, what's the problem?
@@quintinspina4270 u can't install just any software you want in Office laptops buddy
@@MrRonfactor zip the file
what does it mean" Delete Files After Compression" ?????????????????????????
it mean what it mean. this option delete completely the original uncompressed files... you keep only the locked 7zip file. if you forget the password you are totally screwed
As what the creator said, Delete files after compression, is to delete the original high quality file, because the file has been compressed and stored inside the 7zip file, and it will be locked because you set a password, if you forget the password, then you're screwed up if the files are important
yay. now i can make offensive content i publish on the internet without any of my parents know about it
Can someone delete the zipped folder without the password?
Yes
@@GustavoAndradeMusic that seems a bit silly then. Yeah they can't access your passwords but they can just delete them.
Is it possible for you to come to my office to password protect my folders on my Server?
I just don't have the time, and I don't want to mess this up.
Why use 7 zip when you all so have WinRar?
because 7zip is totaly free, so people can use it, winrar is not free
@@Nico-lm5tl ofc winrar is free lol
@The User Known as.....Tim? Not really. They just always ask you to buy it but you can still use it
7zpi is open source
great video but useless for me. not what i was looking for
Useless unless you use their preferred program.
Now nobody will see what's inside my folder.
DON'T think what's inside it
Waaay too many steps
thanks this helped
