Quads can be loosey goosey with a wide tail but some can be tighter if the back boxes are close together. I’ve been solely riding quad fins since 2010, changed my surfing significantly

i had this problem of slippery when i was having a lot of speed and trying to turn frontside, i slipped every time but i fixed it !

Poor young dude not surfing at all? Looked sad a bit. but all for the good and he still shreds.
I tried a quad setup in my Lost RNF Redux... didn't like it. I think Im just so used to thrusters. Caught one wave and felt like I was a beginner off balance. Thrusters went right back in. I feel that the quad just takes time. Back to thrusters for me. They just feel more natural and quick.
What would you recommend fin wise for a guy built like you, I'm 6'5 and 220

Thanks for this! really helps to have someone give their opinion when they know how to surf. Is there a big up-side to them? are they a lot faster?? Making a groveler for myself. wondering if i should do a quad....
My experience with quad fins is only with mini guns, I surf very close to Nazaré, Portugal and here swell is very consistent even in summer we have some sized waves (in winter it's almost impossible to surf, only if you go down to peniche penisule to protected beaches from the swell or only if you really surf big wave) and that's why I never invested in a fish or a small wave board with a quad system. As I was saying, in mini guns I kinda feel the opposite, I find it very hard to do the bottom turn, not because it slips but because it holds too much, in speed down the line I can relate to what you are saying totally. What I have found that works for my situation is use very small fins, I weight 68kg = around 150 pounds and I use, when surfing quad, the Performer Fcs2 in the small size and for rears im trying different fins, like small stabilizeres or extra small sizes. It does feel a lot looser than my quad Carver M size system that I used to surf. When I surf with the thruster system I love my Medium Carvers and hate my Small Performers.

I think you are getting a bit mixed up about the amount of fins and the amount of surface area of a surfboard. Everything you describe about the board is because of the amount of surface area of the board and the tail shape not the fact that it's a quad. In fact if you had a standard shape short board (e.g. typical 6' thruster then put a quad set up on it you can push it into and out of a turn a lot harder)
