He is a musical prodigy. I saw video of him as a kid on tv in Britain. He’s playing the organ and singing like Ray Charles. He was practically a boy. Just amazing.
I have seen him twice and will see him again if he comes back around. Can never get enough of SW. Always thought he was underrated. His live music sounds just like his studio stuff.... only better!
The percentage you're paying is too high priced while you're living beyond your means And the man in the suit has just bought a new car from the profits he's made on your dreams...
Blind Faith consisted of Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Ric Grech. Clapton and Baker had played together in Cream and Winwood came over from Traffic. As Blind Faith they only produced one album and had a 3 month summer tour before they broke up. This song is amazing. So much talent packed into one group. Steve Winwood's vocals are so beautiful and Clapton's guitar work is palpable. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
Traffic are an amazing band, Steve Winwood is a multi talented musician. Berkshire Poppies is a fun track, The Small Faces provide backing vocals and percussion. My two favourite vocalists together Winwood and Marriott....
My FAVORITE song for over 50 years! Written as a duet but generally sung as a solo. Tells the struggle of drug addiction. Winwoods voice is ethereal....so full of pain. One of the most covered songs ever! Capton and Yvonne Elaman do a beautiful duet of it and House of Lords does a double.... acoustic then hard rock that is pretty cool!
Yvonne Elliman would be a great addition to a ‘70s Female Friday sometime. Her vocals with Clapton were always so good, but she is too often forgotten as a solo artist.
One of the greatest songs ever made in the Classic Rock era. Steve Winwood is a legend, that can play about 20 different instruments, and has so much soul in his voice, it's unreal. He has talent to burn.
Steve Winwood was a music prodigy . He started with the Spencer Davis Group when he was 14. He then played with Traffic and Blind Faith. Finally went solo in the 80s
Steve sang backup for Ray Charles and B B King before Spencer heard of him. Steve and his brother Muff joined the Spencer Davis group in 1963 when Steve was 15 years old.
This song became very popular during the Hippie movement. “I’m wasted and I can’t find my way home” was something of a Hippie theme. I was a Hippie that left home and spent time in Haight Ashbury, and The sunset strip. I remember relating to this; being on the road; wasted on psychedelic drugs and getting home sick. I almost died from the drugs; but finally got my life together. Steve Winwood is one of my all time favorites.
Jason Dennis You've walked the walk, bruh. Thanks for your candor and honesty as it pertains to your addiction then. I recall being 'wasted' on alcohol quite a few times back in the day, and literally not being able to find my way home. Thanks be to God I didn't kill anyone out there , and have continued to remain sober quite a few years now.
Sounds REAL familiar . We might have even bounced off of each other. Glad we both made it out of the insanity. Thank goodness god suffers fools. Not very religious, but that has always been one of my faves.
Steve Winwood has THE voice, so so good. I'd suggest checking out his other band, Traffic. Must hear songs: The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Glad/Freedom Rider, Empty Pages, Feelin' Alright, and Evening Blue. Winwood's solo songs are incredible, must hears include Roll With It, Talking Back to the Night, Valerie, Arc of a Diver and Spanish Dancer. Great reaction y'all!
I'd LOVE to hear them do "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys". It's a great song, but at 20 minutes, it's probably too long for the channel. But it's a masterpiece.
Have you ever heard the work that Winwood did with Japanese percussionist Stoyu Yamashita? The band was called Go Live in Paris and there is some great work on it. My favorite is called "Crossing the Line." It was an all star band with Al Dimeola, I think Pat Travers, and Mike Shrieve from Santana on drums. Great stuff!
Blind Faith was a supergroup. Eric Clapton & Ginger Baker from Cream joining forces with Steve Winwood? That's just insane. Plus, the songs have a very religious bent to them as well. Such great work.
In case you didn’t know, Ginger Baker on drums was the drummer in Cream with Eric Clapton. Baker was also the inspiration for Frank Beard of ZZTop when they inducted Cream into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
You may have heard Ginger Baker before...he was the drummer for Cream, Eric Clapton's band in the 60's..hits like Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, Badge, Crossroads, etc.
Even now, in his 70s, Steve Winwood still sings this song beautifully. His voice has obviously matured but still has that magical, otherworldly quality to it when it comes to this masterpiece. I highly recommend finding him performing this alone on a guitar at his farm, in front of a fire. It was like the fire knew just when to crackle to accent the song. I love when you guys dig in and appreciate music that I loved when I was younger (and still do) - it re-reminds me why I loved these songs in the first place. Do yourselves another favor and look up Clapton and Winwood live from around 2009 - pure magic.
Ginger Baker was the first rock superstar drummer. He notably was in Cream with Clapton. Before that he was in the Graham Bond Organisation and later formed the band Ginger Baker's Air Force. Ric Grech, the bassist, though not as well known, played bass, cello, ,and violin (and sometimes sang lead) in the band Family . He later joined Winwood when he reformed Traffic after Blind Faith ended.
I love Steve Winwood's voice.. You all covered a few of his later songs with Traffic and as a solo artist in the 70s and 80s. This is pure folk/soul from the late 60s/early 70s. More Steve Winwood!
Legendary drummer Ginger Baker was in Cream with Clapton and Jack Bruce (bass), as well as The Baker-Gurvitz Army. No one ever seems to mention Ric Grech, who was a member of the groups Family and Traffic. Anyway, this whole album is amazing. They were a true 'Supergroup'. The original album cover was banned, for obvious reasons. 'Presence of the Lord' is a must hear. I love Clapton's acoustic guitar work on this song.
Eric Clapton's acoustic guitar work is masterful. He produced an album during the MTV years for their "Unplugged Series" The album " Eric Clapton Unplugged" was so good it motivated me to learn how to play guitar. The entire album is amazing, the three songs that I really love are "Layla", "Old Love", and "Lonely Stranger". I recommend any of those songs for reaction. I would be remiss not to mention "Tears in Heaven" which is as moving a song that has ever been produced.
Winwood had many short-lived incarnations woven around his solo albums - Traffic & Blind Faith among them. He lapsed from the mainstream after "Arc of a Diver" - then resurfaced in 1986 with the comeback album "Back in the High Life."
This is my favorite 70s song -- well, it was released in 1969, but I've been listening to it all through the 70s and to this day! I never get tired of hearing it over and over! Ginger Baker passed away in October of 2019 at the age of 80. Rest in peace Ginger Baker. Thanks for a great reaction choice! 💙✌
Winwood has a video on YT from just a few years ago of him sitting by a fireplace singing this. Just him with an acoustic guitar. It's magical. He's just such a wonderfully talented musician. You should try to watch it. It's well worth a few minutes of your time.
I actually prefer that version (not that this one is bad...); the crackle of the fireplace is just perfect! "John Barleycorn (Must Die)" is awesome also.
A True Supergroup. The drummer is Ginger Baker from Cream, an amazing group that featured Clapton, Baker and bassist Jack Bruce. They have too many great songs to list, but Badge is an excellent one. Steve Winwood's group Traffic is awesome, too, with many good ones like Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Dear Mr. Fantasy, Paper Sun. Again, too many to list. Layla, from Clapton's group Derek & the Dominos is another one to check out. Love listening to your reactions!
My older brothers played this album - and others - each night as they climbed into bed all through the 60’s and 70’s. I consider this song an old, dear friend.
Oh no! This is a great song ever! It’s a close your eyes song! Try listening to Steve when he was 17 yrs old! Still awesome so many years later! Best song ever!!❤️❤️❤️
This is an album that's a lost gem in time. Listen to 'HAD TO CRY TODAY' and ''PRESENCE OF THE LOARD' off this album - both bangers. Great guitar and vocals!
Great song. As for Ginger Baker, Wikipedia says that basically Ginger was annointed Rock's first superstar drummer. That sounds about right. A reputation well deserved.
You found another supergroup!! May I recommend an 80s supergroup that you haven't done yet? They're called The Firm, and they were comprised of Paul Rodgers (Bad Company), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Tony Franklin (Whitesnake), and Chris Slade (AC/DC). Their big hit was "Radioactive". For Steve Winwood, I think you'll love "Valerie" and "Freedom Overspill".
You guys reacted to Cream's "Sunshine Of Your Love", where you can really hear Ginger Baker's drums. It was a very primal sort of sound he could create. He was nicknamed Ginger because of his red, red hair. 🙂
This is definitely an appropriate song for me to return to your website. I am glad I found my way home. This song brings back time in college marching for much we are losing today. Love you both. And love Eric Clapton. Love your interpretations.
Well said. Scary how hard we fought for so much back in those times and how quickly and mindlessly it’s being thrown away. Lose some of these rights and we’ll never get them back. We need the 60s attitude s and courage back today
Blind Faith - Presence of the Lord Steve Winwood was also part of the band TRAFFIC and they made one of my favorite songs ever (that was famously often covered by the Grateful Dead in concert) "Dear Mr. Fantasy". GREAT, great song that is sung by Steve Winwood!!!
I was fortunate enough to see Steve twice live. He definitely has a distinct voice. He has performed with so many, making their sound that much better.
One of the greatest tunes of all time, love this song so much. for more Steve Winwood stuff definitely check out Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, and Dear Mr Fantasy.
"Sea of Joy" is my favorite track on this album, Clapton's electric guitar is sublime, and Stevie's keys and vocals are amazing. Ginger Baker on drums played with Clapton in Cream so you have heard his drums before.
Thank you! The great Steve Wynwood is the singer. The drummer Ginger Baker was the amazing drummer for Cream with Eric Clapton and the great Jack Bruce bassist and vocalist
Steve Winwood is often associated with just the Hammond B3 organ. But he is an incredible guitarist as well. Ginger Baker was just as much a jazz drummer as a rock drummer.
It's hard to describe the reaction we all had when Blind Faith came out, and they were together for way too short a time. They were the first of the true "Super Groups" - simply incredibly talent.
Oh this takes me back. My Mom was a huge fan of all the members of this group. And a huge Eric Clapton fan. It definitely takes you to another place. Thank you Amber for pointing that out. #AMBERSWAY. Oh J Angus is crying out. A good to for, ACDC-DOWN PAYMENT BLUES, and RIDE ON. Awesome blues from ACDC, Angus goes crazy in these songs!
Steve Winwood's organ performance on "Gimme Some Lovin'" is one of the best song intros around. It just grabs your attention the Steve's vocals reel you in. Some of my favourite Clapton Song/Covers that I like to listen to and play are "After Midnight" (written by JJ Cale from Oklahoma City), "Knockin' On Heavens Door" (written by Bob Dylan) and "Tore Down" (Written by Sunny Thompson). Others I enjoy are "Badge" (written by Clapton and George Harrison, recorded by Cream), "For Your Love" with the Yardbirds, "Ramblin' On My Mind (with John Mayall's Blues Breakers) and "Let It Grow (from Clapton's solo album 461 Ocean Boulevard). Clapton is deep rabbit hole. He started in 1962 and is still going. 🎸😎
Jay & Amber, Steve Winwood wrote this, he's been writing & playing and singing in groups since he was 14 years old & had a hit with "Gimme some Lovin' " when he was 15.
Steve on vocals. Steve and Eric on guitars. Steve is a deeply underrated guitarist. Ginger was the drummer from Cream (featuring Eric) which broke up a year earlier. Eric didn't want Ginger in this band as he was a very difficult person to work with and one of the reasons Cream crashed, but he happened to be there when they went to record and his style fit perfect with the sound. His volatility helped end this band as well, but Eric was driving force of the break up. So Eric went solo, Steve, Ric and Ginger (with others) formed Ginger Baker's Air Force. Steve and Chris Wood left that band and reformed Traffic. They recorded their best album (John Barleycorn Must Die) and the Ric left Air Force and joined Traffic. Ric left music in 1977 and died in 1990 at 44.. Ginger died in 2019 at 80.
@@coinneachmaclellan3121 Jack Bruce may be the only one not to play with any other the others besides with Eric. Steve played with Mitch on the Electric Ladyland album and Eric and Mitch were half of The Dirty Mac. But Jack played with a lot of people over tge years.
One of the all time classics! Want more Windwood? Try “Gimmie Some Lovin”, Roll With It. Also check out unplugged version of Can’t find my way home: ruclips.net/video/eoSn2Y-b6wI/видео.html and yes check out John Barleycorn Must Die ruclips.net/video/t8878chOvfI/видео.html as mentioned below (unplugged).
Oh yes! That is my all-time favorite version of "Can't Find My Way Home"...need to check out "John Barleycorn (Must Die)" from about the same time--10 yrs. ago--simply stunning!
Blind Faith may have split up quickly, but they left and indelible mark on music. "Had to Cry Today," "Presence of the Lord," and "Well All Right," are a few other great tracks from this album. Here are some songs from Steve and Eric's solo work. Steve Winwood: "Roll With It," "While You See A Chance," "Back in the Highlife Again," "Valerie," and "The Finer Things." For Eric Clapton, "Tears in Heaven," (LIVE version please), "Forever Man," "She's Waiting," "It's in the Way That You Use it," "Bad Love," "Pretending," "Before You Accuse Me," "Motherless Children," "Running on Faith," and "Tearing Us Apart" (with Tina Turner) will get you started.
Ginger Baker was the drummer for Cream which also included Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce . You have reacted some of their songs like White Room (March 29 , 2022) and Sunshine of Your Love (Oct. 23, 2021). I know you have already done the Blues Brothers cover but you should do the orginal Spencer Davis Group version of Gimme Some Loving with a 18 y.o. Steve Winwood on Vocals and organ .
Stevie Winwood was lead singer in The Spencer Davis Group. They had hits with "Gimme Some Lovin" & "Keep On Runnin", both great songs. Steve Winwood has one THE best voices. And has been around forever. 🎵🎼
Derek and the Dominoes have some of Claptons best work. Bell Bottom Blues and Keep On Growing as well as the classic Layla are must listens. Blues Power is from a solo album and is tremendous as well.
Such a special song. For recording only one album, they made an impact. Amber, gets it. Thanks again for this. Low Spark, like others have said. Thanks again.
Blind Faith was the first concert that my parents let me take the car to go see. When certain songs are played, it reminds me of just how lucky I was to be a teenager in the late 60's. I had that album until my home flooded during Hurricane Harvey 5 years ago.
And BTW.... that pic on your wall with Dino, Sammie and Frank... actually had dinner at that same table one night. It's in an old Vegas club off the strip. They all went there because the main strip Vegas restaurants wouldn't allow Sammie in. You go there, there's also an Elvis table where he used to eat. Sat there, too. Best old club in Vegas. Old school bartenders. Coolest experience in Vegas and little known.
You must get into Traffic one of the forerunners into the super groups of the 60’s/70’s. Start with songs like Dear Mr Fantasy, Heaven is on your Mind, Feelin Alright, Forty Thousand Headmen, Freedom Rider, Empty Pages, John Barleycorn and The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys. This gives a a great progression of Traffic and why they were so talented.
I remember when I was about 11 yrs old I saved all the money I had earned by mowing lawns and when I had enough saved I was able to buy a Mono recordable cassette player and waited with anticipation for this song to play on the fm radio station. When it came on finally, I was "almost" Lol, able to hit the record button and recorded it playing through the radios speaker. I'm sure it was the worst recording ever of this song but to me it made all that summer' s work worth every bit of sweat!! I was able to hear my first "favorite Song" over and over, again and again! God knows how much I wish I had that tape to this day!! Thank you two for helping to bring back some of these important memories of Music History. You Two peeps totally get what it's all about now. You've created a crash course in what music is all about!! ✌️✌️
Steve Winwood was vocalist for the band Traffic, and there are many, many great songs they recorded: "Empty Pages," "John Barleycorn Must Die," "The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys," and "Mr. Fantasy" are just a few.
As a 70 year white guy, I am so thrilled that you two can appreciate the music I grew up with.
yes same!!!!

I am a black guy who loved this song and Steve Winwood .

Steve Winwood was in rhe Spencer Davis Group when he was just 14. He's a musical genius in my book. I love all his stuff.

I totally agree
He is a musical prodigy. I saw video of him as a kid on tv in Britain.
He’s playing the organ and singing like Ray Charles. He was practically a boy. Just amazing.

Eric Clapton “Let it Grow” great ballad and great guitar solo 🎉
"Do What You Like"...love the song and Gingers solo...
I played this album to death, I wish they had recorded more😒
Great reaction. Dear Mr. Fantasy is a must for any Stevie Winwood fan.

Great tune, Also really love "Paper Sun"
Love that song. Never get tired of it.
Traffic are an amazing band, Steve Winwood is a multi talented musician. Berkshire Poppies is a fun track, The Small Faces provide backing vocals and percussion. My two favourite vocalists together Winwood and Marriott....
And, the vocals on that song display his true baritone voice. The dude has a fantastic vocal range from low baritone to above a tenor.

Love you both. And love Eric Clapton. Love your interpretations.
Well said. Scary how hard we fought for so much back in those times and how quickly and mindlessly it’s being thrown away. Lose some of these rights and we’ll never get them back. We need the 60s attitude s and courage back today
Great song! Spencer Davis Group, Steve Winwood " Gimme Some Lovin" and solo "While you See A chance" and there are more! thank you
Ginger Baker was in Cream with Eric Clapton.
Please check out "I'm A Man," by The Spencer Davis Group featuring Steve Winwood.
Blind Faith - Presence of the Lord
Steve Winwood was also part of the band TRAFFIC and they made one of my favorite songs ever (that was famously often covered by the Grateful Dead in concert) "Dear Mr. Fantasy". GREAT, great song that is sung by Steve Winwood!!!
I was fortunate enough to see Steve twice live. He definitely has a distinct voice. He has performed with so many, making their sound that much better.
One album....this is the one and only album Blind Faith made. This is one of the most iconic songs from the 60's.
For anyone who has ever struggled with alcoholism or drug addiction, this one strikes a deep chord.
"Sea of Joy," "Presence of the Lord"....this album is pure gold. Please treat yourself to more!
This song is beautiful and classic, from the guitar to the vocals. One of my all-time favorites.
This and 'The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys' are my favorite Traffic songs.
Ditto on the Low Spark of High Heeled Boys!
One of the greatest tunes of all time, love this song so much.
for more Steve Winwood stuff definitely check out Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, and Dear Mr Fantasy.
Absolutely one of the best songs ever. Always loved Steve Winwood, a favorite from one of the last Traffic albums is When The Eagle Flies. 👍👍👍
This is a forever classic. A wonderful sound, and a very deep song
I forgot how amazing this song is and it's going on the playlist 😊
"Sea of Joy" is my favorite track on this album, Clapton's electric guitar is sublime, and Stevie's keys and vocals are amazing. Ginger Baker on drums played with Clapton in Cream so you have heard his drums before.
Yes, and Grech adds violin to this track !
@@sneakerfacevids441 Thanks, I did not know that. I just assumed it was a session player.
Back in the day I would call this "head music". Stuff that would put you into a trance with out the aid of ... well, you know what.
🎸😎
Euphoric ❤ Supergroup 🤩
I think that Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Mitch Mitchell would have been great together.
@@coinneachmaclellan3121 Jack Bruce may be the only one not to play with any other the others besides with Eric. Steve played with Mitch on the Electric Ladyland album and Eric and Mitch were half of The Dirty Mac. But Jack played with a lot of people over tge years.
So I think you’ve hit every Eric Clapton group and solo artist. 🤣🤣🤣
That unplugged version of this song is so so goooood.
So it’s two guitars playing. Steve Winwood playing the main theme and Eric Clapton playing the fills.
Another one of my absolute favorite songs . . . Stevie Winwood was like 17 years old or so when he sang this brilliant song!!!!
This song is a treasure. Steve Winwood's voice is a miracle. How I wish this band had stayed together longer.
Hard to believe Steve Winwood was 18 years old at this time
Stevie Winwood was lead singer in The Spencer Davis Group.
It never gets mentioned but Key to the Highway by Derek and the Dominoes is my most favorite 9:38 of recorded sound of all time.
I saw them at Hyde Park in '69.
Wow me too. We lost about 400 albums.. some of which were original prints and a couple signed.
Harvey gutted me.
And BTW.... that pic on your wall with Dino, Sammie and Frank... actually had dinner at that same table one night.
Sea of Joy is my favorite 😀
Yes, a very trippy and beautiful song!
You NEED to react to “You and I”, by Eddie Rabbitt and Crystal Gayle. The BEST romantic duet EVER
Ginger Baker was considered one of Englands best drummers and Jack Bruce one of the best bass players. And with Eric Clapton they made up Cream!
Steve Winwood was vocalist for the band Traffic, and there are many, many great songs they recorded: "Empty Pages," "John Barleycorn Must Die," "The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys," and "Mr. Fantasy" are just a few.
You still haven't done Eric Clapton's most iconic performance? Must do "Crossroads" by Cream!
