This is a FIRE blues throwback to put on at the honky tonk or at the ghetto hole in the wall blues joint just the same! Why can't we do this for our music of today yall?!!
Steve Winwood is one of the many under-appreciated, nearly forgotten artist that was in many epic groups before he went solo. He was an influencer in the music industry for quite some time. Thank you for helping keep this great nearly forgotten artist in the light! Luv Ya and Thanks!
My life's anthem! Gotta check out Winwood's song "Back In The High Life" also uplifting. Also a young Steve Winwood version of "Georgia On My Mind" with Spencer Davis Group. He sounds way older than 15 years old! Like a young Ray Charles.
On his first solo album he plays EVERY instrument on the whole album. 1980. The best song on it is While You See a Chance. The album is Arc of a Diver. The title track is really good too.
Actually, his first solo album is called "Steve Winwood." And there are other musicians on his first solo album. "Arc Of A Diver" is the second solo album and that one is all instruments by Steve. 😊
Jay and Amber great song. Dancing is so much fun. I’m a 72 year old grandma and last weekend my 12 year old grandson was over. He’s very much into music and loves songs from past generations. I gave him a bunch of cds to take home to listen to. While he was here I put on a song and got him up to dance with me. Showed him some of the dance moves from my day. He loved it, I loved it. He said, “you must have danced a lot when you were younger”. I told him there was a time when I went out clubbing in the 70’s. 😊 folks get up and move and as Wilson Pickett would say “shake what you brought with you”😊
Steve had two solo #1 hits in the 80s - this and "Higher Love". Both are classics. For your next one, may I suggest "Freedom Overspill"? It wasn't one of his bigger hits, and it's not one people think of when they hear Steve Winwood, but it's a great tune. "Back in the High Life Again", "The Finer Things", and "Don't You Know What the Night Can Do?" are also terrific.
This became the most successful song of his career and his second Billboard topper, spending four weeks at #1, and ending as the 10th biggest single of 1988. And then there's David Fincher, the Academy Award-nominated, Grammy Award-winning director, who also helmed videos for "Freedom! '90" by George Michael, "Straight Up" by Paula Abdul, "Vogue" by Madonna, and at least 50 more.
Gimme Some Lovin is one of the most famous rock/pop songs ever made, you've probably heard it before. That's Steve Winwood when he was still a teenager! You'd love it.
Steve Winwood: very few 60s rockers have had such a lengthy run with great songs all through the years. This was from 1988, more than 22 years or so after he hit with Spencer Davis Group. And I believe he's still active; he was guesting with Steely Dan a couple years ago anyway. Have you done "Gimme Some Lovin'" yet?
And another great tune tonight. Don't forget "Back in the High Life Again." As others have said, Steve Winwood is always great. Thanks to you guys for reacting to these great tunes!!
Traffic! That’s his old band from the 70’s. It’s definitely a different style of music, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys is a must song that is chill and has great sax 🎷✌️
Did anyone mention that this guy has been singing on hit records since he was 15 years old? That is how old he was when Spencer Davis Group recorded "Gimme Some Lovin", part of the "British Invasion" that virtually took over American radio for a few years.
There are songs out there with Steve and Eric Clapton. Old buddies they are! This is a banger, guys. Enjoy! Great video too. Swea-ty. Great reaction. Thanks.
Steve Winwood is incredibly talented!! He writes, sings and plays a lot of his own songs. I would recommend "While You See A Chance"; "Higher Love" and "The Finer Things"
I'm having one of the worst days I've had in years. Depression's got a hold on me bad. Love Steve Winwood so much (and you two!), but I never looked up the lyrics before now. 'You can make it, just roll with it...' You could not have done this reaction at a better time. Thank You!
My favorite song by Steve! I have my own little line dance for this song so I get my girls going whenever it's played in our favorite pub. Glad you liked it!
I played bass in a band years ago… and I always listen for it and appreciate it too. I love how J has an ear for it as well, he might just unlock his musical talent ❤
Great song This British Rock and Soul writer/singer is so great. He plays about 30 different instruments as well. It's that voice. That, "I thought he was a Black guy" voice, that made him rich and famous.
I love Steve Winwood!!! Gonna take this and any opportunity with any of the players to suggest the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction of George Harrison-- the all-star jam on While My Guitar Gently Weeps has EVERYBODY!!! Steve Winwood on keyboard, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Ferrone, Dhani Harrison, and PRINCE!!! An absolute must-see!!!
Steve Winwood is in Blues Brothers 2000 (the sequel) in the greatest Blues band ever assembled (would be a great crossover for your movie channel). Back in the High Life Again should be your next song without a doubt.
Check out a song he did with the Spencer Davis Group called 'Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out' and while you are listening, remind yourself that he was 15 yrs old when he did that. Unbelievably talented. On one of his albums he played every instrument - guitar, drums, bass, organ, synthesizer, percussion, everything.
In the 80's, I was a long haired Metalhead, but when this video came on MTV, after Madonna, ZZTOP, RATT, etc... the horns and vibe still got your toes or fingers tapping. This became one of the great background songs of the 80's.
Steve Winwood is one of the greatest musicians of all time...His career looks like an athlete who played for 4 or 5 teams and everywhere he went they won championships....Just some things to consider checking out: (1) The Spencer Davis Group - Gimme Some Lovin" / I'm a Man (2) Traffic - Dear Mr Fantasy (3) Blind Faith = Can't Find My Way Home (4) Steve Winwood - Arc of a Diver / When You See a Chance / Back in the High Life / The Finer Things/ Spanish Dancer / Don't you Know What The Night Can Do......
If I recall correctly, Paula Abdul choreographed the dance moves for this video. Its constant rotation on MTV was a very good thing because of the catchy nature of the song. Huey Lewis and the News had song out around this time called HIP TO BE SQUARE which reminds this video and the way it is shot. Close up angles and plenty of rhythm and horns. But back to Miss Paula, there is a video you guys will absolutely love to watch and hear. It's called OPPOSITES ATTRACT. Her partner in the song will steal your heart. You owe it to yourselves to be entertained by this wonderful duo. Paula Abdul began her recording career shortly after this monster hit by Steve Winwood. THE WAY THAT YOU LOVE ME, VIBEOLOGY, RUSH, RUSH & BLOWING KISSES IN THE WIND are just a few of the songs that made her Forever Our Girl. Enjoy
I've been a big fan of Steve since his early days in the 60's, with The Spencer Davis Group. A great multi talented artist.Guitar, Keyboards and a great Harmonica player.
Winwood's work with the band Traffic is also legendary. Check out The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Glad/Freedom Rider, Empty Pages, Feeling Alright, Pearly Queen, Shootout at the Fantasy Factory. More great stuff from a world treasure.
I heard him say in an interview that the idea for this song and video came to him after attending Jazz Fest in New Orleans, which makes perfect sense. I was lucky enough to see him close the last day of that festival on the main stage at this festival. The sky open up with rain and thunder and Steve still closed his show with Give Me Some Loving, while the roadies were mopping up water from his organ. I will never forget it!
Love Steve Winwood! I would love for you to react to Brian Setzer’s “Jump, Jive ‘N Wail”! Talk about getting down…remember the comeback swing dancing era of the 90’s? Be sure to play the video with all the dancing!
He played a show in Tampa. and after the show people gathered waiting for him to come and he signed autographs and talked to almost every person there it was amazing how nice and polite he was
Steve Winwood has been a star rock & Roll vocalist since he was 17 years old. He started with the Spencer Davis Group and he cowrote their 2 biggest hits Gimme Some Lovin' and I'm A Man. He played with Eric Clapton in Powerhouse. Then he helped to form Traffic which was a very important group that had so many great albums Low Spark of High-heeled Boys and Dear Mr. Fantasy are great title tracks to great albums. Blind Faith got him back with Eric Clapton and the song Can't Find My Way Home is beautiful. He joined Ginger Baker's Air Force for a while. Then he went on his solo career which this song comes from. Steve Winwood cannot sing a bad song. He is amazing. You should go back and listen to his older stuff. Can't Find My Way Home is gorgeous.
Steve Winwood was with The Spencer Davis Group when he helped write" Gimme Some Lovin" He made the song a hit and he was a teenager. .A great musician song writer.
I'm gonna suggest again the live performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra) on vocals and Steve Winwood on the organ, and Prince doing a killer solo that you could listen to on repeat for hours and not get tired of it. It was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Dhani Harrison was on acoustic guitar, looking just like his father, George Harrison. You will not be disappointed. Just look it up on RUclips, it's here. I'm gonna watch it again after this, honestly.
I've been waiting for you both to react to this song and video...This video is one of my all time favorites...Steve Winwood has always been a class act.
"Keep On Running" sung by Steve Winwood when he was with The Spencer Davies Group, is a great song, but I think you might have reacted to that one. I'm not 100% on that, but if you haven't, please do. ❤🎶
I've been a Winwood fan, probably since before most of you were born. At 74, he has been "rolling with it" since he was a teenager. Nice reaction. Thanks.
Steve has been a great artist since the 60s - his old music is worth exploring too. He played with some great bands, including Blind Faith with Eric Clapton and Traffic
You should react to Gimme Some Lovin' by the Spencer Davis Group. Winwood is the vocalist and it's a killer track, but if you do, please do the studio version because some live recordings don't capture the oomph of the song very well.
Soooo happy you're doing more Steve Winwood!! He's a true icon, has worked with everyone, including Jimi Hendrix, who wanted to be in a band with him. A child prodigy, iconic vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame etc. Still touring and still has the voice!
I've been listening to him since he was with the Spencer Davis Group back in the 60s. He's always at his best when he gets back to his R&B roots. More SW please.
Steve Winwood with the Grateful Dead in 1970. yeah, he's been around for a Lonnnnnng Time. You will never go wrong with Steve Winwood music, Valerie is another excellent song of his. Thanks for today's smile. !
Steve Winwood doesn't make bad music. Everything he's done is fire.
Agree 100%!
Amen
I mean he doesn't make good music either. But enjoyable none-the-less.
This is a FIRE blues throwback to put on at the honky tonk or at the ghetto hole in the wall blues joint just the same! Why can't we do this for our music of today yall?!!
💯
The bands Traffic, Blind Faith and The Spencer Davis Group all had Steve Winwood as lead singer, and all had classic great songs
Blind Faith also had Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker.

💯% agreeeee!! 😊
He's not forgotten or underrated in my house! 😊
The man's a living legend, hardly nearly forgotten at all !!
@@kentishmale1969 Agreed, however I meant for the under 25 generation, which (at least in my area) don't know who he is...
My life's anthem! Gotta check out Winwood's song "Back In The High Life" also uplifting. Also a young Steve Winwood version of "Georgia On My Mind" with Spencer Davis Group. He sounds way older than 15 years old! Like a young Ray Charles.
As soon as Steve Winwood starts singing, you know instantly that it's him (well I do anyhow). A fabulous voice, and a fabulous entertainer. 🎶❤
Steve Winwood was writing and singing hit records when he was SIXTEEN. Gimme some loving and I’m a man by Spencer Davies group are astonishing. ✌️
Gimme some 'Gimme Some Lovin'" with Steve Winwood and Spencer Davis. The original! Accept no substitutes.
Yes, he was originally billed as ‘Little Stevie Winwood’.
Steve has such a unique style to his voice. No one sounds like him!
Especially all his life... maybe Stevie wonder is the other artist I can think of that has the same constinistinty in his voice through generations.
Steve Winwood is incredible, since he was 16 he has been writing songs, singing, and playing keyboards. Musical genius!
On his first solo album he plays EVERY instrument on the whole album. 1980. The best song on it is While You See a Chance. The album is Arc of a Diver. The title track is really good too.

Gotta roll with it baby. 🤭😂👍
When You See A Chance , another great one by Winwood .
That's my favorite ❤
Love it 🥰
This is what you call rock and roll with soul. Feel good music.
Y’all know he was lead singer for The Spencer Davis Group in their hit song “Gimme Some Lovin” At the age of 14
Steve had two solo #1 hits in the 80s - this and "Higher Love". Both are classics. For your next one, may I suggest "Freedom Overspill"? It wasn't one of his bigger hits, and it's not one people think of when they hear Steve Winwood, but it's a great tune. Arc of a Diver! Great CD
Freedom Overspill is my favorite! The great Joe Walsh adds his guitar talent to that track
'Split Decision' and 'Holding On' are more terrific songs from that era. Then again, Steve Windwood could sing 'Happy Birthday' and make it awesome.
WHen you see a chance is great as well
The bass line is absolutely the driving force behind this song. Such a great groove.
Facts! This baseline is drug all over the fretboard!
By the way, that's Steve on Hammond organ AND bass AND *DRUMS.* He is one bad man.
Steve Winwood "WHEN YOU SEE A CHANCE" ❤ my favorite.
Amazing to realize how every band and every solo project of Steve Winwood is fire. Spencer Davis Group... Blind Faith... Traffic... all are great
Back in the High Life Again is one of my favorites. He was also in the Spencer Davis Group earlier in his career, check out Gimme Some Lovin’
Essential!!!¡
This song has always been one of my favorites from the 80s and I remember when it came out🙌🏻I sang it to my kids when they were teens❤
Listen to a hit he wrote when he was 17. Recorded with his group Spencer Davis Group in 1967, "Gimme Some Lovin". This is where he started.
😮🤯🤯🤯🤯 I NEVERRR knew that! THATS a GREAT TUNE!!!
This became the most successful song of his career and his second Billboard topper, spending four weeks at #1, and ending as the 10th biggest single of 1988.

Little stevie winwood has been doing this forever. Started with Spencer Davis Group when he was 14. He is a rock and roll legend!!!
Ahh, someone my age. Known him as Little Stevie since forever. Like fine wine, he ages so very well.
This song is so funky! Steve Winwood is so awesome!
Mr. Winwood has been a force in Rock n Roll forever it seems. Just kept making hits. ☮💛🎶
Gimme Some Lovin is one of the most famous rock/pop songs ever made, you've probably heard it before. That's Steve Winwood when he was still a teenager! You'd love it.
This song is like a love letter to the city of Memphis, with the Memphis Horns (Jackson & Love) adding a genuine Memphis flavor and vibe in the mix.
Steve Winwood: very few 60s rockers have had such a lengthy run with great songs all through the years. This was from 1988, more than 22 years or so after he hit with Spencer Davis Group. Traffic! That’s his old band from the 70’s. It’s definitely a different style of music, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys is a must song that is chill and has great sax 🎷✌️
Clapton and Winwood together. Band is named Blind Faith, song is called “Had to cry today” it’ll knock your socks off.
'Can't Find My Way Home' when Steve was a member of Blind Faith with Eric Clapton. It's an incredible song.
Did anyone mention that this guy has been singing on hit records since he was 15 years old? That is how old he was when Spencer Davis Group recorded "Gimme Some Lovin", part of the "British Invasion" that virtually took over American radio for a few years.
He is very relevant please listen to back in the high life always a pleasure to see you enjoying yourselfs❤
My favorite song by him, if you are not moving to this song you are broken!
The Finer Things is such an amazing and addictive song!
And whenever he performed it in concert, everyone was on their feet dancing!
There are songs out there with Steve and Eric Clapton. Old buddies they are! This is a banger, guys. Enjoy! Great video too. Swea-ty. Great reaction. Thanks.
That is not just “a keyboard”. That is the mighty Hammond B3 and Stevie Winwood is its Master.

Steve Winwood= Musical genius

His favourite is the Mandolin and the keys.
Winwood was a child prodigy, multi instrumentalist. He was in Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, and Blind Faith. Anything he touches is good.
Bought this album upon release and played it every day for weeks. Every song on it is a hit.
Don't forget Steve Winwood in his band Traffic, singing Dear Mr. Fantasy! FIRE!
Definitely my favorite Winwood piece!
Don't you know what the night can do is my favorite by him 😅
Great song! What else could I say, it’s Steve Winwood!
Don't you know what the night can do is another incredible song!

Steve Winwood is in Blues Brothers 2000 (the sequel) in the greatest Blues band ever assembled (would be a great crossover for your movie channel). Back in the High Life Again should be your next song without a doubt.
I'm rollin' with Steve Winwood with this hot hit! He has so much soul and his band is so tight!
The song of Stevie to react to is "Finer Things". You will love it!

Another good song from a younger Steve Winwood is "Glad" when he was in the band Traffic.
Glad shows Winwood can flat out play Jazz and SMOKE
