Around half a year ago, I was thinking of stepping for the first time on the realm of 7 or 8 strings guitars. So I went to my usual guitar store, talked to the clerk for what I wanted and he went : "Oh, I have this guitar, whenever anyone wants a 7-string, I give them this one. Sit by the amps, I'll get it ready for you !". He came back with an SE Mark Holcomb SVN. It was crazy, I had good grip, it played so god damn well and the tone was exactly what I was looking for. But the finish wasn't quite to my liking, I'm not too fond of glossy/dark guitars (even tho my first non-training guitar, an Ibanez, was glossy/dark). So I put this guitar on the back of my mind and continued my search. About a week later, I went in the guitar store for some strings, and there was a new arrival, gorgeous guitar there. Wood body, matt finish, everything I love. I went to look at it closer, and I realized, it was the same model I tried and absolutely loved ! And this time, the look is there as well. The very next day I bought it. I love this guitar, and the price point for a beast like that is a steal ! Still have to find my way around the 7th string (it is my first 7 string guitar), but every time I've played with it has been a blast. Thank you so much for designing and producing this wonder.
I've got the SE and the SVN and I'm impressed with both, my Walnut SVN is strung for Drop F# and it holds surprisingly well, the 6 handles Drop B like its nothing. They're both quality instruments for the price.
Played them at a store last week. Absolut brillant guitar. ^^ definetly a top contender if i buy another guitar. I really love the looks of the wallnut, especially with the neck.

I love my SVN walnut top. It plays really well and sounds great. Alpha/Omega combo is spot on. The fretboard/neck also seems to be fairly narrow, making it easy to transition to from my 6 strings. I do find the timing of this video odd as I've had my SVN going on, what, two years now?

I haven't played any of the Holcomb models nor have I played any 7 string guitar, but being used to playing a Baritone I have heaps of curiousity about this particular model, specially due to the 26.5 inch scale length. While the 6 sring model might be slightly "foreign" to PRS scale wise considering typical PRS guitar have a 25 inch scale. A funny thing for me due to not only being used to a Baritone, but also having had 10s as Standard tuning gauge (10 - 52 for Drop D mostly) are the string gauges as they both seem to be pretty light for both Drop C on the 6 string version (10 - 52 is too light imo) and Standard 7 string tuning (10 - 54 I believe) I mean the PRS SE 277 has a longer scale length and the factory installed Low B string is a 68 so having a 54 on a guitar with a lower scale length does make me wonder if it won't feel too flabby (to me at least) Only thing I wish this guitar had was a Walnut veneer on the headstock to match the body but that's a minor detail

It's very difficult for me at 50 years of age and 38 years of playing 6 string guitars to try playing a 7 string guitar. I have it set up in drop tuning and with the Whammy DT it's easy to play a variety of drop tuned metal!!! But with the 7 string it's a lot more physically demanding and a lot more taxing on your wrists and fingers. Maybe I need to change up my technique so that I don't damage my wrists???
I have the walnut 7 and I fucking love it. How good the fretboard radius feels and the intonation is the best of any guitar I’ve tried. Also love the more traditional look for an affordable model, as black gloss seems to be the main option at that price point. ALSO nice to see PRS not releasing a slight variation every year - really is no point as they nailed it with this one
