Thanks for making these videos! I'm working on a DEP-5 as well. By the way, as far as the cr2032 batteries with the offset pins go, those are the ones found in Yamaha DX-7 synths and some of their rack units. I've lost track of which units of mine still need new batteries... One of these days I just need to solder in battery holders for every single one of them! I already put one in my DX-7.
Great video, but I do have a little concern with the power dissipation. Running a 360 ohm coil with a coil voltage of 15.6V~ would result in power dissipation of about 670mW, greater than the recommended 400mW power rating for both the original (DS2E-M-DC12V?) and modern alternative (G6A-274P-ST40-US-DC12) relay. I wonder if this excess power is contributing to the common failure of the relays in these units? Could be mistaken. After some searching, I've found an 18V relay (RY-18W-K) which will switch at 12.6V, it has a much greater coil resistance of 1.62 kohm. Using this relay would result in a power dissipation of 150mW which is within its spec. Note I haven't tested this relay myself yet.
I need your help! I replaced the relays and I have no effect. I have output with a slight buzz but I don’t hear the relays kicking on. I bought it off eBay as-is thinking it would be a simple fix but doh🤦 I’d like to pay and ship it to ya and have you service it and bring it back to life if possible!🙌🏻 thanks for you’re time and consideration 🙂
Hi all. I just recovered my DEP-5 that had been stored more than 10 years in an empty house. A friend of mine could repair the battery as well as some faulty parts, but it seems that all the "sounds/settings" have gone. Is there a way to copy the data thru sysex import, and if yes, where can I find the data? Thnx bunches and Happy upcoming year!

Many thanks for this video. I have a similar problem, and have just ordered the replacement relays for my DEP-5
I was about to open mine to check the specifications for the corroded relays. This is good timing, thanks and best regards

Were you ever able to replace those jacks?
How is the output quality is it clean and powerful?
