- The wait is over for the long awaited KTM Duke 790 has finally hit the Indian shores. It comes loaded to the T with best-in-class electronics and KTM's all new parallel twin motor to take the fight to the the undisputed king of the middle weight naked thus far, the Triumph Street Triple S. And Sarge couldn't have asked for a better setting than KTM India's tight and technical track at Chakan to put the Scalpel to test in this first ride review.

I couldn't believe it when sarge said it was his final review on powerdrift. Never know what is happening behind the scenes but it seemed like he was in his perfect job. Hopefully he is now and keeps on letting us know about the latest and greatest that motorcycles have to offer. A "one in a million" when it comes to bike testers.

Well, someone has to said this, so here I'm.
I've always loved watching Powerdrift and its old stuffs, which indeed were astonishing ! Remember, that Daytona Video, which had gone viral ? Yeah, and since then I've become a fan of Sargent, but after Sargent's resignation, it didn't take me long enough to make things clear, that it was the Sargent, whom I admired the most in Powerdrift. Even after this incident, i continued watching the mind boggling videos of Powerdrift, but something felt missing, something as peculiar as a strong voice, or as uncanny as a macho body language, which indicated the triumph. Undoubtedly the Powerdrift had and still has some of the great enthusiastic hosts, but sarge was surely being missed, his style of cornering was missed and so was the case with his style of brandishing the vehicle on one wheel !
I knew that, someday, Sargent will takeover, and bring back the zeal of motoring on this ephemeral platform. And now, here I'm, feeling the sense of fulfillment by gazing upon the reflection of "welkin of automotives", narrated by none other than our very own SARGENT

I was virulent about the 790's price initially. Failing to understand there's more that goes in creating riding experience than what's on spec sheets.
Finally we have someone to speak through and show us what the bike can actually do.
PS : Me being me, I'd be looking at spending 2L more on the ZX6R over this 😛
For the track that's a better option yeah.
Decent review Sagar. Why decent and not awesome, coz i missed the audio from the helmet vlogging setup here. I know there might have been some restrictions while creating this review, but that adrenaline rush you bring in while wriggling in the throttle is what i missed. Cannot be matched by the audio from the hotel room.😬

Yet another splendid review.
The last bit is going to be worth waiting for.
Some suggestions though,
1) audio quality can be enhanced.
2) a little bit of number crunching like before.
3) spec sheet vs real world feel, especially 0-100 Kmph
4) heat management of the bike especially after riding it at 60-70 kmph for a while.

What an intro! Gave me goosebumps.. and a sense of nostalgia. The intro to the 390 had had the same effect and was the most influential factor in my decision to buy one. Now when I'm thinking about upgrading I think this video is going to make me buy the 790 over the competition 🙂
