I was a Pediatric ICU RN, CCRN for over 35 years with very similar experiences. I was barely 18 when I went to nursing school. When I got married we inherited my husband’s niece who was 11, with behavioral issues and no supervision. I quit my job and never looked back. I am an artist now, and love it. My niece thrived, and is now a sergeant for a local police department for over 10 years now. I do not believe it is necessary to only have 1 career in your life. Life is short, and family is always first for me as well. Best decision ever. Good luck with everything! I know you will thrive!

Wow! Before I even get into the rest of this video, I want to give you a sincere heartfelt thank you for all that you do! After spending a 1 1/2 years in the picu and oncology with my son, you guys make the days more bearable, brighten kids days and are in the nitty gritty of it all and saving lives! I don't know how I would've gotten through some of those rough, sleep deprived nights if it weren't for the awesome nurses we had at children's. You probably hear it a lot, and I know we didn't have you personally bc I'm across the country, but thank you on behalf of all parents. You truly are angels on Earth. The work you do could never be repaid and there's no words to express the gratitude we all have for the extremely hard work you all do! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My mom used to be a respiratory therapist at our local hospital and rehab center while I was growing up until she got sick. She never worked full time doing it because she home schooled me and my brother. She always worked weekends in the evening or overnight so she never missed being with us and being there for us. She loved what she did but always put us first. Kudos to you for doing the same thing of putting your family first!
Edited to add: I completely agree about Legoland. I went to the one in California when I was a kid and there really wasn't much in the way of rides, but all the sculptures and everything was really cool!

I left my job as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care after 22 years to stay home with my boy/girl twins. My husband who is also in medicine works all the time and my kids needed me.I still maintain my license.I love Disney, I live about one hour from Disney. You have to put your family first. I worked in the hospital for 25 years as an RN. 17 in the Emergency Department and 8 in Endoscopy. I now get to work from home as a triage nurse and that is good because I have to take care of my Nana who is 91 and lives with me. We have to put our family first. ❤❤❤

I’m a mother and I have 1 child and he’s a boy. I did the exact same thing when my son got a lil older. He was in Middle School. As a mother, we do what we feel is best for our child/children.

Oh Heather, I am so happy for you. I had to pull out my younger two in high school and my oldest in 8th Grade for a year. All three needed me to supplement their education throughout school anyway. You do what you need to do.

I started my son online with a teacher for kindergarten but I'm switching to start homeschooling with my son and adding my daughter. It's gonna be hard even as a stay at home mom. Hello Heather! What a fantastic trip it sounds like! I have gone to Disney twice and it is okay as far as a theme Park. But I prefer to go to Amusement Parks. I am born and raised in Northern Ohio and anyone from this general area has heard of Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. They have some of the absolute best Roller Coasters in the entire world! I have been enjoying Cedar Point my entire 37 years on this earth and its my dream to one day stay at the Hotel Breakers which is on Lake Erie and is a part of the Park. Cedar Point has been around since the late 1800's and therfor has a rich history with a ton of loyal patrons. If you are EVER in the midwest i HIGHLY recommend you to visit Cedar Point. You will not be disappointed

Congrats on your decision. It's nice to see someone home schooling who is qualified to do so. I am an attorney and specialize in juvenile abuse and neglect. I see a lot of cases where parents aren't qualified to home
School, but do it to keep their kids away from mandated reporters. Good luck!

Also, my daughter was born 10 weeks early in 1997 and we spent a month in the NICU, which as anyone can imagine it wasn't the best time in our lives. But, the amazing nurses, specialists, the ones who went above and beyond to make us as comfortable as possible, i can't thank them enough. I am sure that you've been a beam of bright light for some mom who was struggling or worrying about her baby and i think you are an angel for being that glimmer of hope for someone. I was 19, scared and she was my first child, and i had no idea what was happening and if it wasn't for wonderful, caring ppl at the hospital, I'm sure it could have went very differently. It's people like you who make the world a better place.

Hi Heather as a person who also been in medical field just wanted to say congratulations on your dedication but family comes first and also your family having social skills with their age group not just family because it can create fear of crowds it can creates traumatic stress for not knowing how to handle simple every day life experience of every day problems and walk away from and be the better person when two wrong don't make it a right now I'm preparing my child as well and taking my kid to therapy so m 25:47 y kid can handle life in general as best as possible as well being around professionals is best way to go and gives awesome results my kid is diamond in school not homeschool and is ok to get help is knowing how be good mother as well no one teaches mothers how to be mothers but understanding each case is different and is about making the best choices for our families happy mothers day and hope your journey goes brightly well.

I also home school my youngest son who is now 13 and it definitely gets harder at this age and upward you need to make sure you are teaching them enough to pass their exams it's their whole future and if you fail them you will never forgive yourself but learning can be done in many ways and you have the advantage our teachers of knowing you son and what ways of learning he responds best to and you can make sure he understands everything that you're teaching him one to one teaching is so much more personalised to the student and should be better for them just stick at it heather I am sure you will do an amazing job teach the subjects and information he needs but in a way that suits him so that he can keep and hold that information so he can do his exams 🥰 I wish you all the best on this topic and I am sure you are doing a really great job
Just stopped by to say I agree with you on the idea of zoos. I love animals so much that I just want them to be happy in the wild. Obviously, that's not something all animals in captivity can achieve, but most animals in zoos aren't there for conservation purposes.

We just came from Disney 2 weeks ago! I loved guardians of the galaxy! My favorite of the entire trip was Tron in magic kingdom! It was amazing! My favorite park of the trip was Universal Studios! It was so much fun!!!

I'm a nurse and I healthcare is full time plus. You can always go back to respiratory therapy. Great that you will keep up your credentials. How did you do RUclips, a job and homeschooling? I’ve worked in healthcare for the elderly for years, and switched over a habitation specialist and respiratory worker for mentally handicapped for 19 yrs now.. it is a taxing job at times, sometimes mentally, definitely body taxing on you.
Changing careers is a huge deal. I went to undergrad and worked part time to make ends meet and never had a day off. You get used to it but it will eventually catch up with you. I finally got my pharmacists license in 2021 and you never stop learning- you definitely need some time to yourself with a full time career. Do you think you’ll go back when your son finishes high school or is that a decision to be made later when the time comes? Thank you for sharing - we feel like we know you and we want to know what’s happening with your life. Your cool vacations are always fun to see 😊.

I just started yesterday, my old job that I worked at 8 years ago... exact same dental office . Most of the same people are there too. I took the time off to raise my kids.

Congrats on doing what you felt was right for your family! I know that was not an easy thing to do and so proud of you. My fave part of Disney is Epcot and the World Showcase. I love the idea of eating food from different countries and my fave country was Morocco. I went vegetarian in Jan of 2020 and eased into pescetarian around June/July last year. (I can't give up my shellfish! 😂) Haven't looked back.

I have not commented in SUCH a LONG time! But I LOVE the makeup!! It's giving Aaliyah we need a resolution vibes. That soft goth chic look that she has when shes all in black on the bed in the video(?). Loved that look on her. Likewise, congradulations on ALL of the new changes! Its not easy switch from what youre a customed to, in hopes and faith of whats better. Especially when youve got a family. And lets not even get started on the economy. I never understand why quitting is seen as a bad thing? I dropped out of my PhD last summer and got a job. I've never been happier and the stress reduction has done wonders for everything from my physical/mental health to my personal relationships. As long as you're healthy and happy, does anything else really matter?

Im still working FT in an administrative RN position, work the floor sometimes (I neverrrr thought I would leave bedside, but hey here I am), am kinda addicted to the chaos of the industry and the work in general, also main bread winner in my family. But my father who has lived w me the last several years is now on hospice, and I totally and completely struggle with how much to work, how much time to spend with him on both a personal and a caretaker level, how much to delegate, how much to rest, how much to play, etc. Life is harddddd-ah, but I mean, we are all just making this up as we go along and just have to do the best we know how I guess. I have so much respect amd admiration for your dedication to the homeschooling of your son heather, it seems exceedingly difficult to do well, and such a huge responsibility. (...and you know healtchare will take you back in a nano second if and when the time comes 🤣)

Heather, did you see the new liquid blushes/highlighters from Sugar drizzle? They have them on sale for $7 apiece right now because the packaging may have a defect. Frankly I just want to check out the formula so I grabbed the two blushes and a highlighter! 😂 I also grabbed the odens eye mystery box and the stuff in it was incredible! I would never have tried the brand if it hadn’t been for your videos. Thank you for everything. I don’t know how you do it.

Wow working in healthcare, plus youtube and homeschooling your son yourself rather than hiring a teacher, that’s super busy, you work really hard! I work in healthcare as a doctor but I’m single and live alone and I still feel up to my eyeballs with work, I just about get time for my own hobbies and gym etc. I hope everything is successful for you with the new change!
