Before lumen and UE5 The first AAA game to adapt ray tracing was Metro Exodus and it looked amazing with simulated infinite light bounces while still performing better than modern games with raytracing or lumen. The issue with lumen currently is the over use of TSR and you can notice it on transparent objects like hair it becomes a noisy mess from a little distance. But using both baked lighting for static light while using lumen for dynamic light is the best way to get good results with very good performance. In 5.4 there is no Ray Traced reflection it has Screen space and Lumen reflections which looks way worse
There are mods that can boost the path tracing to a level where it doesn't look like a normal path tracing that was used in game development. That's why i called it a fake path tracing. Because it's not achievable in games without modding.
Thank you very much for the explanation, I have seen that at one point of yout video you could see water using path tracing, could it be that you have to activate something to visualise water using path tracing?
Do You have any tips for creating mirrors in Unreal 5.5? for example Mirror in small room, bathroom... clear, and clear reflections... ? Regars and happy new year :D
Yes, you just need a plane with glass material and enable lumen reflections. It usually works perfectly or I'll try to make videos on reflections next time.
It sounds like English is your second language. You should run your script through Chat GPT and ask it to fix your grammar mistakes. The AI voice will sound much better. (No shade, just an idea that I think will be helpful for your channel.)
Great overview for beginners. However I wish you would have clarified in more detail the differences between pathtracing and raytracing. And Raytracing is no longer an option for Global Illumination.
Sorry to say this Unreal Engine 5 Lumen is a bunch of Crap, basically, it's a Screen Space Light and Shadows also slowly interact when you move your camera making ghosting and shadow fades
@TheUnrealForge your question was the 1st question I asked myself before I posted the comment but then I thought that maybe the clips were taken from another channel. I didn't expect a small channel to have this good production quality. Plus the voice is ai generated. Apologies if I'm wrong.
It's always the smaller RUclipsrs that explain these things the best. Well done.
Thanks mate, I'm glad you found this video useful.

You're absolutely right, i don't like lumen at all that's why i still use UE 5.3.
great explanation, may i know which version of ue uve used in this video ?
5.3 for Standalone Ray Tracing
And 5.5 for Lumen and Path Tracing. Since path tracing and Lumen is updated in a new version of Unreal Engine.
The best explanation I have come across 🙏
I'm glad to hear that.
Great video, thanks!
You're welcome ❤️, I'm glad it was helpful.
Thank you for making the video. I really appreciate 🙏 🎉
You're welcome, this video was important since there are no much videos about explaining the rendering pipelines.
How is cyberpunk using fake pathtracing when theres an option to play it with pathtracing turned on?

Wow cool and explaining video
Thank you❤️
4:22 it doesnt work with AMD? only nvidia?
Mostly works with Nvidia, but you can give it a try with AMD
Is there a way to disable TSR completely in ue5?
From project settings it's possible i guess.
Hello thanks for lesson...but i have not Standart Ray Traced in Global Illumination field (only Lumen, Screen Space, Plugin)...
It's only available in Unreal Engine 5.3
Thank you very much for the explanation, I have seen that at one point of yout video you could see water using path tracing, could it be that you have to activate something to visualise water using path tracing?
In 5.5 you can see water in the path tracing, and we can make water with Niagara system to make it visible in path tracing.

And happy new year brother 😉
such a good tutorial TUF!
Thank you bro😉
excellent video❤️
Thank you❤️
Awesome Lecture! Just found your channel... Liked and Sub'd 🍻
I'm glad it was helpful. And thank you so much for supporting 😉❤️

I'll try using chatgpt for my script next time. Thanks for your suggestions ❤️
Wait. So Path Tracing no longer exists in UE 5.5? It’s just Lumen now?
Path Tracing is available in 5.5.1, you can try it, and it's really better than older versions.
Deserve a like and subcribe
Thank you bro
Great Video
Thank you❤️
love your voice and your explanation
Thanks man, I'm glad it was helpful ❤️

I will create a video about that with complete detail.

Absolutely true, i miss Standalone Ray Tracing. It was best
Is this an AI genrated channel...
How unreal engine tutorials can be created with AI?
