- I've been wanting to go on a bigger road trip in the micro camper van for weeks, but things kept getting in the way. But finally, with zero plans and no idea where I was heading. I chucked some clothes in the back of the VW caddy camper, and hit the road!
I head in 'a direction' and obviously I get involved with a spot of stealth van camping. What happened after the stealth camp though, was a little worrying! Although I guess it's all a part of van life.

You were in South Manchester, not Stockport and you seemed to have gone on a wild detour from many of the motorway options to get to where you did. In the car park you were in, if you’d have driven about 10ft further than where you parked, there is a load of unrestricted parking. There is also a 24 hour Tesco over the road. So plenty of options
It’s called the Stockport branch of the gym so no idea where it actually was but I was assuming Stockport. Didn’t go on any detour though, just put the Stockport gym in the map and went straight there. But yeah I went to the bit just on from where I parked. I cut the clip out of the edit, but it had restriction signs (4 hours maximum I think). Tesco also has restrictions. The place I parked had no restrictions though so it was perfect
@@Adz yeah Parrs Wood/Nuffield Didsbury is South Manchester (it’s much better for Council Tax to be Manchester than Stockport. (Always want to tax you) I used to play footy at the school Astro turf and the parking in Cinema/gym used to the people parking there. There is a great spot near the River Mersey to park up.
Ah fair one, It might have been me just assuming it’s called Stockport gym because when I looked on the map that was the closest name to it. To be honest when I go anywhere I barely ever pay much attention to the area I’m in 😂
I was actually planning on going to see the river though but the weather wasn’t the best so it ended up being a brief visit!
@@Adz ha that’s a good way to live. it can help with any parking, bus lanes or speeding tickets to know which authorities are responsible.

I wish I could do that mate. It takes at least 20 hours to edit a vlog. These slightly shorter ones can possibly be done about 18 hours. But that’s still over 2 full working days of editing, so daily vlogs wouldn’t be possible unless I made them so simple, but that’d make them less enjoyable to watch unfortunately!

Wow you did drive far from home. I quite like your thinking on where to stop. Although, if you're going to want to do long trips, maybe it's worth you putting some form of survey out there to ask your audience where they would recommend you go on a road trip and eating suggestions too. That would be cool. Then it can work 2 ways: You drive in a direction and when you find a place to stop, you can check if there is a suggestion around there. OR, you can just pick, from home, where to drive from suggestions. If I had known you were going to end up around Manchester, I'd have recommended you go to the curry mile for food for example :)

Yeah I think I’ll definitely do some sort of suggestions at some point. Or maybe I’ll be 2 or 3 places and do a poll. And the road trip is still ongoing. I haven’t filmed every single day but I think there’ll be 4 videos out of it

No idea of the dimensions mate. I personally wouldn’t want anything smaller than mine which is a caddy maxi. But I have seen people use smaller vans too. I’m actually thinking of possibly getting a bigger van at some point

What electrical system you running to be able to power your heater and electric blanket and projector etc? Looks a great simple yet effective set up
Good ol' jellybean is fitted with an additional battery (leisure battery) which is charged when driving and additionally via a solar panel fitted to the roof. Thats used for the cabin electrics (sockets etc). But Adz also has power stations (check the kit link in the description) which are charged when the leasure battery is at 100% and provide the electric blanket power. Check the previous vids for a better explanation of the setup!

How tall are you Adz? Just wondering if this setup would work for myself - not mega tall, 6ft, but I do like to be stretched out when sleeping
I’m 5ft 11 mate. The bed is the exact same length as my height. But unless I slept with my head actually touching the door, my feet would hang off the end if I stretch out. Although it’s only on 1 edge of the bed where that works because most of the end of the bed touches the kitchen unit. Sleeping diagonally is fine for nights I’m on my own too.. But yeah it’s definitely a tight fit

I'm just interested where you got your van and what mileage it had on it and how much a van like it costs.
I think it was somewhere in Buckinghamshire. Can’t remember exactly but just on autotrader. It was about £7k including VAT, 83k miles. I think the build cost me like £3600 but if you have it done by someone else it’d be more like £8-10k I think!
What is the best power station to get to run a microwave or kettle TV And heater not all at once
Depends on the wattage of the kettle but they use a lot of power so that’s going to be an expensive power station. The delta max for example.. you may find a lower wattage kettle that the delta 2 can handle but the lower wattage, the longer it takes to heat up. I’d use a jetboil or something if you didn’t want to get a huge power station. As for a microwave, they use more watts than the microwave is rated. So for example my 700w microwave uses 1200w. And I’ve powered that on my delta 2 in a previous video. TV’s don’t use as much but again, depends on your tv. A 12v one would be more efficient

Well Adz several points I think need to be highlighted on this adventure. The simplest one first I think.
# You will recall that several "adventures" ago you were granted the title of "God of electricity"......this I believe we must put under review. As yet you have not investigated the cause of the electrical hissy fit. But there is a strong suspicion that it was causing by your electrical blanket and heater. Working together to overload the system!
# Now you mentioned several locations one of which being Stoke-on-Trent! You must NEVER even consider going to STOKE-ON-TRENT EVER!!!! The mere mention of it's name is to be avoided at all costs. It has but one thing of worth. That is if is located in the fantastic most important of all British Shires that of Staffordshire. Its one other item of worth used to be. It has roads allowing those who suffered the misfortune of entering it. To leave. However these roads have turned out to be a curse. As some years ago. "Stokies" ......discovered how to use them. And we now find that there are clusters of "Stokies" in all locations! This is particularly problematic when "stokies" gather in groups of three or more. As they become so vocal that their incoherent chattering is the cause of severe headaches for humans.
# Manchester? Why? It rains in Manchester. Its strongly believed that "Mancs" evolved from wandering "stokies".
# Birmingham.....now whilst you clearly failed to obtain the required documentation required to enter. You clearly mentioned the Great City in such a way as to imply a visit and stealth camp was going to occur! You even discovered the M40. Before losing your way and ending up in "Stockport" ?? One can only imagine that you must have inadvertently passed to close to a wandering rouge "stokie" which caused you to experience a temporary navigational blackout!!
May I suggest that you repeat your North ward travels and in your attempt to enter Birmingham. To offer yourself some measure of protection from the menace of "wandering rogue stokies" may I suggest you carry several bars of soap. Soap to "stokies" is as garlic to vampires.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 these Stokies you speak of should be the centre of a new horror series by the sound of it! 😂😂😂 my time in Manchester was short lived haha. And as for the battery issue. The van battery doesn’t connect to anything I use in the back of the van. It’s 2 separate systems. And the heaters are actually not even attached to either system. They’re on a standalone power station. I think the only explanation is that the excess electricity came from me. It’s just a price I have to pay for being the God of electricity ⚡️
It appears that you may retain your "God of electricity then".
The battery issue must then be due to orbiting to close to Stoke! Let this be a warning to one and all.
If you do venture to Stoke don't forget the soap 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
