Respected Sir I have observed that the closing rank for IAS in 2017 for general category was 105,in 2018 it was around 92 and in 2019 it was 77.So obviously getting into IAS has become much tougher.
Reason is EWS

That was solely because of more top 100's going for IPS, IFS,,IRS as the 1st choice and more Students from Reserved category in the 1st 100 in comparison to 2018.
From 2019, it is b3cause of EWS.

answer is modi govt the economy is contracting therefore affecting budget expenditure of depts n reducing job.
remember salaries is included in revenue expenditure.
and the reason all india service number is not reduced because their salaries are paid by the respective cadre states.

Do you mean to say UPSC= just IAS & IPS,what about other A grade and B grade service that are facing significant cut. Restructuring is of various types..what is being done in Railways and Ordinance is privatisation so yes precious seats have been taken away from UPSC,,not everyone clears to become an Ias & Ips.I see people just blindedly lauding the video..IAS & IPS are most essential to run a govt..these people just follow the dictates of govt and force their decisions on general population without them govt machinery can't run.The fact is this arrogant & radical govt doesn't care about education and jobs..the future of the country is dark. Are bhai mai bhi aspirant hoon preparing since last 2 years.Admi bano bhakt mat bano kisike..no offence meant to 'Sir'.P.S- Its not an UPSC interview i have the full freedom to be politically bias.

Only reason is reducing the recruitment of vacancies so RSS people don't tolerate giving reservation.

Distorted view , lacks basic understanding .those who cross all the cutoff criteria from prelims to final merit list in descending order as per the total marks , no of unreserved seats or open seats comes first irrespective of the community , the notion of reduced general seats is utterly wrong , the general seats are open to all. This happen in all competitive exams . As more and more candidates from reserve community performing well , there in increasing trend of such candidates coming in open list . It’s grossly distorted view that general seats have been reduced . Correct view is competitions have become tougher .

Seats isiliye b reduce hua hai kyu k railways k non-tech vacancies cse exam se hat chuka hai year 2020 se and ese(ies) exam k b vacancies kum hua hai for tech graduates ...railways ka seperate exam hoga IRMS for combined technical and non-technical cadre k liye in near future for betterment of working management of indian railways

Sir with respect to increasing population and difficulty in administration seats increase honi hi chahiye... kynki time k sath sath ap grow ni kr rhe aur static ho that means you are actually diminshing...IAS me agr 180 seats h itne tym se man lo to wo is perspective m decrease hi ho rhi hai sir effectively agar dekhen to...Aur Rhi bat IPS me increase ki wo aisa b ho skta h ki kisi year Jyada retirement ho gyi upper level m aur lower level walo ko promote kr diya to IPS m jyada bd gyi aisa b to ho skta hai..baki group A and B m trend mostly decreasing hi h...baki rhi at Railway ki vacancy ki...wo ab nhi aayegi most probably...because of privatisation of indian railway in some railway stations etc...aap maano ya na maano...generalist ka koi khaas kaam nhi reh gya h ab indian system ab administration m... specialist ki jrurt hai...aur wo definitely upsc k is exam pattern aur syllabus se to definitely ni aa skte... Definitely kuch na kuch bada hone wala h indian administrative system me...

Actual general get only 30% seats.
Not 40% as 10% is given to high scoring non general candidates.
Only 54 general ias 2019 cse. Count in the Rank wise list yourself.
At the end, only proper general candidates suffer..

If candidates are appearing as sc/st-s, they should be treated as sc/st-s throughout the process, no matter how high their marks are.
Converting the reserved ones to generals is lowering the actual general intakes. Also, Reserved are getting the reserved seats as well as general seats. Very unfortunate.
