Just FYI, you can set the full cook time on the Vortex and the unit will tell you when to flip the food. When you reinsert the tray the time/temp will pick up where it left off.
Excellent video! My only suggestion would have been to cook the same quantity of food for a more accurate time-to-done reading. That being said these were the 2 models I wanted compared... so thanks very much.
I just purchased the Instant pot and it is the way to go from what I saw in the video. You did not highlight it a whole lot but the instant post is taking only slightly longer to cook more food. If you account for that the Instant Pot is the runaway winner. The comparison would be more precise if you put the same amount of food in each. That way, one, the Instant Pot, is not disadvantaged by having to cook more with no more time alotted above what the Ninja needed. Video liked. Informative.
I agree the same amount of food would have given a more accurate comparison. That being said, if you are cooking for more than a couple the Instant Vortex is hands-down the winner. I love it! Thanks for sharing!
If you use an oven and put some chicken wings on a tray, whether one puts 6 or 12 it will take the same amount of time to cook. So why would the amount of food in each of these air fryers make a difference in cooking time? She filled them both to capacity and that's a fair comparison test. If she had put less in the large one it would defeat the whole purpose of buying a larger air fryer.
By the way, on the instant pot you have to put the full time if you need don't restart half way. If you put 20mins and flip them at 10mins you just slide it back in with not pressing of any buttons and it will continue to cook at the same temperature FYI.
I have the Instant vortex Clear Cook 6 qt. --for about 2 weeks. The time/temp is all in one now so easy--the window/light is especially nice since you can check without even opening. It also has a sloped surface for the menu. I wouldn't bother doing 6 minutes and then set 6 minutes again--I'd set 12, pull and turn at 6 minutes and push back in and it resumes. It does not tell you at 6 minutes--it seems to do it closer to 2/3 of the time--I just pay attention to the time and flip then. 'The last minute is counted down by seconds. Don't know if the Ninja has changed any either but I do like the Vortex Clear Cook 6 qt with the changes that evidently have been made from the model you have. My favorite things I've made is an adaptation of my mustard glazed salmon and roasted rosemary little red potatoes though have made frozen fries and wings for my husband.
Good video, but I think that it would has been more fair if you have used the Ninja 5 .5 qts. to compare with the Vortex 6 qts capacity instead of 4 qts.
Thanks for this comparison, as these seemed like the 2 top performers in the price range. You can't go wrong with either, but the Instant seems like a clear winner in my eyes. Better User interface, bigger basket if needed, and the buttons and dial are WAY easier to use than the clunky buttons and arrows of the ninja. Definitely gonna be going with the instant vortex when I buy an air fryer in the future.
Excellent real world review, Cheers from Australia. p.s. I have the Vortex Plus being delivered tomorrow! :) oh and the use of baking powder and cornstarch (in a flour mix with seasoning etc) on your chicken will definitely increase the crispness of the chicken on either machine.
I have several of the instant vortex and I noticed that after the basket has been out for so long it may reset and will go through the warm up time again I usually just adjust the cook time
The vortex was Americas Test kitchen's pick .I will be buying one. I have a Nuwave oven it is going in the garbage. The racks have discolored after one use and it s a pain in the butt to clean. Thanks for this video honey .Wish they made a bigger one .
Oops I got confused they actually didn't do the instapot vortex. But they done two different reviews years apart. I do love my Instapot vortex. Works great and very easy to clean
U cooked double the quantity of wings in the instant Vortex - of course it will take a little more time & energy to cook. Would have been helpful to put same quantities in each to assess cooking times (although I appreciate you were demonstrating capacity differences)
Well of course the bigger one’s going to be slower because it can take more food so requires a bit longer time and the smaller one you’re not getting the amount you want and you’ve gotta use the thing twice so what do you think putting a few minutes extra on the vortex or having to do two separate sets of each item like fries and wasting time and energy you’re also using your pot a lot more often than you with the vortex
Why she cooked more in the Vortex is becos she wanted to show the volume each machine can take. That being said, I wud prefer the vortex as it is bigger in volume 22 vs 11 wings. I’ll just have to airfry it longer to get it crispier.
Instant continues to be an innovative brand of high quality appliances; I own this fryer. I've used I-Pots for around 5 years with complete satisfaction. 'Ninja' is too full of gimmicks for me.
Great video! However, not sure how did you set your temperature on the vortex. It should be automatic. It will tell you when to add the food and turn the food. And once you open it and flip the food, just close it right away and you don’t have to adjust the temperature, it will continue the timer and temperature after closing it, no pre-heat needed. I have the Instant Vortex and i can say its one of the best Air fryer in the market. :)
Thanks! On my Vortex, the Vortex Plus, there is a pre-programmed temperature of 360 degrees but I also have a button labelled ‘Temp’ and when pushed I can use the dial to select any other temperature up to 400 degrees. I have discovered that if I move fast, and not leave the basket open too long, I don’t have to preheat the machine again. I must have been moving too slow, or talking too much, in the video that it required the additional preheat 😂 I agree. I think it is the best on the market. I use mine many times each week.

If you have more to cook you have to increase the cook time. Instant makes a 9qt dual zone basket with a removable divider so you can have one big basket
I have the Insta Pot Vortex Plus 6 QT air fryer. Today I learned a valuable lesson that might be helpful to your viewers. I was going to bake some biscuits for breakfast. I have a package of those square parchment paper inserts for air fryers and decided to use one to place my biscuits on while cooking. As you mentioned, the Vortex has to preheat first. To save time, I placed a parchment paper insert into the basket, set the time and temp and pressed Start. My air fryer started to preheat and I quickly started to detect a burning smell that got stronger as the preheat continued. When the Add Food message appeared, I pulled out the basket. When I did I noticed that the circulating fan had blown the parchment paper insert up onto the heating element because there was no food on it to hold it down. That was the cause of the burning odor I detected. There was a metal frame around the heating element that prevented the paper from coming into direct contact with it, so the paper basically singed instead of catching fire. Disaster averted and lesson learned.
Many good thinks said about the Instant Vortex 6 Quart and I would like to add one more. It is currently selling for $89.99 which is a lot cheaper than the Ninja. Get one for Christmas before they are all gone! Happy Air Frying!
Ok video. Seems like a more accurate comparison would be to compare different air fryers with the same capacity, or at least cook the same amount of food in both the Instant and the Ninja instead of packing both to their max when they hold different amounts and therefore won't cook the same. It's not much of a comparison; they both cooked the food put into them perfectly well and they have different capacities and prices. The end.
Thank you for this video I have this exact vortex arriving today, I'm completely new to air fryers what foods do u air fry and what foods do you roast in it please?

The noise level is comparable on both and I don’t find it too loud. I am able to easily carry on a conversation in the kitchen over the noise of the fan.

I'd guess the only reason why the Ninja wings looked more crispy is because you only had half the amount in it 11 pieces and there was extra space for air to flow through them, where the InstaVortex..22 pieces didnt leave much space ...considering the insert in the vortex, you really dont need to flip wings if you had just put 12 pieces in it. First time I did it..I cooked about 12-14 wings in it but did it for 12 min for nice crispy wings...All depends on how cooked or how crispy you want the wings....I bought the InstaPot Pressure Cooker as well and I think although it's not as expensive as the Ninja products...the Timers and preheating and sizes of the capacity hands down...makes the Insta Line Pretty darn good...Great video especially for a beginner
Of course the Ninja is smaller. It says in description it's 4 qt while the vortex is 6. Also, how long is the preheat time on the Vortex? You said 3 minutes for the Ninja but that's it.
Excellent review . But as you say it's horses for courses being a small family of 2 kids are grown and gone. I find the Ninja as the way to go for us. A bigger family would probably prefer the Vortex for larger portions.
Before people do reviews they should know how to use it. A quick read of the manual would have helped this review. If I hadn’t read or watched other reviews I would have been discouraged the fact you have to set the time and temp twice instead of setting it once and getting a reminder to flip or mix food.
Looks great, functions great, and highly recommended. The buttons are touch (not pressure activated "touch"), which was a nice detail ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB Perfect size for normal every day meals, and it cooks food very thoroughly. On preset settings upon first use, it cooked my chicken breasts to a crisp. Boarder line too dry, so next time I'll either decrease temperature or time. Not a bad thing, just a minor adjustment for next time. No oil was used, so food was clean to the touch. Excited to see how other meals will turn out. Will recommend to friends and family in the future!
You might want to rethink your production, as for the most part all you hear is two air fryers making noise with some squeaking in the background. Not the best presentation I've seen.
We prefer to not fry our wings and usually bake them. Check out my video where I compare baking in the oven and air frying, ruclips.net/video/ah9sgCAK0Ko/видео.html
I know you think your kids are cute but please don't show them on social media. The wrong eyes may be watching. You sound very naive. I'd like to have the vortex. Maybe when mine dies.

Comparing equal size units would be better, but the information about your family size and appetite helps understand the comparison
Thanks 👍🏻
Thank you! I appreciate your thoughts on this 👍🏻
You need to cook same amount of food in each to compare time. My air fryer will cook a cup of fries very quickly but is much slower if full.
Since vortex is bigger it requires more time during to sizr
Of course the Ninja is smaller. It says in description it's 4 qt while the vortex is 6. Also, how long is the preheat time on the Vortex? You said 3 minutes for the Ninja but that's it.
The vortex was slightly less than 3 mins. 2 mins and 50seconds to heat to 400 degrees. It takes less time to heat to a less temp of course
Excellent videos!!! +1 subscriber, more reviews please.
Neither air fryer looks like it is ready for the public yet. They both need to be more user friendly.
I just looked at the Ninja 2 drawer air fryer. Nice.
There was a small learning curve at the beginning but after a few uses it is simple enough. My preteen even uses it (with close supervision)
@@thegutzlife I found the Ninja 2 drawer air fryer that is better.
@@shareethornberry8385 brilliant! Enjoy!!
I'm trying to decide between these 2 but with the Instant Vortex having the PTFE coating that seems to be the deal breaker with the Vortex for me.
That’s fair.
Are you really never ingesting anything toxic ever? At least here you're gaining conveniency .
The coating does not break down below 500 F. The Vortex only goes to 400 F
Thanks for review 👌👌
Dang guh you fine. Thanks for the video!
Not having a dedicated preheat option is a deal breaker for me. Goodbye, Ninja.
I do like the preheat as well.
At the start, I heard: Welcome to the good slave.
Oh no! I obviously need to talk slower! Thanks for letting me know.
@@thegutzlife lol it's ok I had a good laugh! Thanks for the comparison.
Great video!
1:04 I agree😌
Excellent review .
But as you say it's horses for courses being a small family of 2 kids are grown and gone.
I find the Ninja as the way to go for us.
A bigger family would probably prefer the Vortex for larger portions.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the Ninja as much as we did
I prefer to have the larger one even though i live alone, it means i can cook a whole meal in it at one go!
The 4 wt fryer wont do whole chicken
22 wings will take longer than 11
Can't hear you clearly when you are standing between the two running machines.
Thank you for letting me know. I will see when I can update the vid
i do believe the dog is hungry she is starting to pace round the kitchen.........
Before people do reviews they should know how to use it. A quick read of the manual would have helped this review. If I hadn’t read or watched other reviews I would have been discouraged the fact you have to set the time and temp twice instead of setting it once and getting a reminder to flip or mix food.
Interesting. I was not familiar with either of these products.
Thank you for watching!
“At the end of the day size matters” 👀
Hahaha! True story 😂
@@thegutzlife RIP Asian dudes lol 🤣
🤏🏽😫😂🤦🏽♀️
clearly a sneaky pun if I ever hear one.
Leftovers matter!
If your life is so hectic you have to worry about a couple of minutes or watching seconds on a display, you may want to reevaluate your life.
I increased the video playback to 1.25x
You might want to rethink your production, as for the most part all you hear is two air fryers making noise with some squeaking in the background. Not the best presentation I've seen.
You need to either be nearer the camera or to speak louder. It is a bit difficult to hear you.
Dog doesnt care much about the brands poor dog just need some wings from mom ... !!!
Ha ha so true!!
Stop using canola oil
RTFM before doing a review
Ha ha thanks!
You might want to learn how to fry chicken wings first before you do the review so you know how long to cook
Your audio is horrible I can't even hear you
The audio is not horrible, don’t be so rude. Get your hearing checked!
