- Blue Wave Ultrasonics Sales Director Jeff Hancock demonstrates the ultrasonic cleaning process and explains the relationship between ultrasonic pressure waves and microscopic cavitation bubbles working in an aqueous solution. Blue Wave, which is located in Davenport, Iowa, provided the video as a video supplement to the May 2013 issue of Cutting Tool Engineering magazine.
Finally a straight forward no nonsense demonstration of cleaning without endless yammering about nothing.

Totally agree very clear and informative, thanks 👍

Imagine inventing this and trying to make your 1st sale... they are invisible bubbles you can't see them but trust me they're there.
This is so cool. I had no idea what this machine was, and now I want one. Thanks guys, great video.
I wish it didn't finish.. I wanted him to submerge more stuff.
..it was so gratifying to see it getting clean.
Yeah his hand
Amazing video helped me to teach how actually and accurately these ultrasonic waves work in a fluid to clean machine parts
great description and demonstration, thank you
my motorcycle mechanic that I go to when I can't or don't want to fix something, has one of these machines. I'm rebuilding a vintage honda, and I got my cylinders back from him about a week ago... the part that holds the piston, in between the valve assembly/heads and the bottom end of the motor... and I don't want to even put them back on the bike. they are so beautiful. I didn't realize that this was a sandcast motor, but I know now.
Interesting to hear from an expert how important temperature is. I'll have to see if there's any kind of chart out there.
Insightful video with great demonstrations. Thanks!
This is truly a cleaning tool.
Great demonstration .Thank you guys
Great video! CTE is one of the most underrated channels on RUclips.
Excellent explaining video with good examples and in simple language.
What is going to happen if my hands get submerged, as well as will it start to destroy skin after time?
Skin is flexible enough that it shouldn't be damaged by the cavitation that occurs in the tank. At least theoretically. I'm not even sure it would be effective at cleaning highly flexible materials.
Nice demonstration
Nicely explained, thank u
Thank you Sir
How rich does a place need to be for those to be used for only washing dishes
This is so cool!
this is so cool!!
Thank you for this demonstration. Other videos didn't bother to show how clean an item can get. I'd love to see some dirty jewelry become sparkly clean. The graphite test was cool though, thanks.
Awesome video, very detailed. Thanks
I wonder if those sound waves could travel through pipework?
fantastic video
Cool stuff...
few questions, can i clean atomicaly clothes? is there sediment?
Really nice
My ears are Ultrasonic cleaned.
No not wear headphones.
where can i get my ear cleaned like that? :D i believe i'll fucking hear alot better if i do it
Just stick your head into the ultrasonic tank, but not for long because it can also shake out brain matter. tsk-tsk
Funny 🤣 but true
I want to know about draining it, do I need to wait for it to cool ?
Is it hazardous to your hearing? What decibel level is produced?
How if to clean liquid like milk or jus ?
What's the solution in the tank?
Fascinating!
hi do youu need air knife?
i work at a mold polishing shop and we do lots of cleaning by hand, can we use one of these with acetone or mineral spirits to avoid getting rust on the parts and prepare for a polishing process??
Can I ask if you are using anyway chemicals to clean your items and also how would you prevent anything with a polished finish becoming dull ?
wow this is so cool! :)
what kind of liquid is best to use for such mujek? does it react with aluminum?
Is that normal water?
what chemestry do you recommend for electronic PCB cleaning? (yeah despite Branson EC Cleaner which is way too expensive) and IPA which i believe would evaporate pretty soon due to heat
I'm a student at Bahir Dar university, Ethiopia doing a research. Could anyone help me get an ultrasonic transducer and horn (vibrator) with a variable frequency. The item shall have control and display units.
Hi
I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE POUR USED ENGINE OIL IN THIS TANK..????
What was the solution you used? Soap and water? Pretty neat.
i wish to clean parts of a hobby gasoline engine, like the piston and the carburator, its posible? what solution do you use? theres some rubbers and silicons parts like gasket and orings
Is it possible to make with cheaper materials?
serious question, need to find proper solution for machined parts with protective lubes on them.
previous engineer bought ultrasonic cleaner but using IPA, instead of soap solution, I proven that IPA won't remove oil from parts.
great video and thank you.
But you can switch to Instant Bio degreaser/descaler / anti-rust solution with Ultrasonic cleaning system - reach me on prakash@pretiumtechgroup.com
How loud is it? Can I stand next to it and carry on a phone call?
What is the liquid cause I assume it isn't just water? Mineral oil?
@Quade Carter I looked it up but what you use depends on what you're cleaning. So the question remains, what are they using in this video?
great dishwasher
Will it remove rust from tools?
Yes, it can but you need to add some anti-rust chemical during cleaning or it will get rusty very soon when you take it out.
What kind of liquid do you use in the machine?
What happens if air is trapped inside a part?
Great video! So I have a newly designed lint brush and am trying to place some ultra sonic vibration in there! Me and my engineers are a little stuck on where to start TO get this ultra sonic vibration inside my 6” handle! Would you know anyone that can help with this or had experience with ultra sonic vibration instruments or experience that can guide me through this? I’m thinking using something similar to the philips sonic care toothbrush brush but a much cheaper solution of what they have?? Any info would really and greatly help thanks 🙏🏻
Q&A
could u fill this tub with oil to work as a lubing stations for parts
It will be better to use another tank for lubing because this will save your time, water, and detergent.
@@michaelclean771 i meant run it with oil to lub parts so oil get right in
@@17hmr243 Never seen ultrasonic cleaner can do this before. Maybe you can buy a small one to have a try.
how many do u hve ultrasonic to mke clean
What happen if you accidentally dipped your finger into the water when cleaning? Is it safe?
It depends on the water. If the water is hot, you might get hurt. But ultrasonic won't hurt you, you just might feel uncomfortable like getting a thousand bite by the ant.
Can it be used for hands? Like for mechanics with greasy fingers and such?
Better not to do this, cause you might don't like the feeling of the ultrasonic hit.
Sir, can we Turn ON this machine without water in the tank...? is there any problems happens in this case...?
No, this will burn the machine. Usually, it will have water level sensors for big units to prevent this.
can an ultrasonic cleaner be used or adapted to create very tiny bubbles to aerate a fish tank or pond ???
Just use a pump and porous ball designed to oxygenate fish tanks
No, an ultrasonic cleaner can not do this for you.
What solution do you use?
The material does not break while using ultra sonic wave

can ultrasonic cleaning be done using ordinary dish soap and water?
It depends on what you are cleaning. If you just want to clean your eyeglass, dish soap will work for you.
what would happen if you submerged your hand in the water while it was running?
Probably wouldn't feel very good
It will damage the capillaries in your hand and get serious internal bleeding.
someone tell me where can i get my hands on this equipment.
Harbor freight sells a small one
jackmc4
HF units will not come close to this one.
That unit is probably got a 500 watts or more power driving those lower frequency 30 KHz transducers.
cblackmail
what’s your point?
jackmc4
The point is if your looking to get anywhere near those results it’s not going to happen anyway shape or form.
Ultrasonic’s is all about power (wattage) and frequency. It just depends on what you want to clean or damage if you have too much power and frequency.
cblackmail
Did I ever say harbor freight sells the exact same unit? No, I said it sells a small one.
Does the second tub vibrate as well?
It depends on their design. It can be another ultrasonic tank or drying tank or just a water tank for rinsing.
I am so disappointed that I have not found one video One video that uses this to actually clean a pan full of carbon. Can someone please make this
He mentions Cycles but not Watts. I'm guessing 30k cycles a second is equal too 30w? If so, I bought a machine which does both 30w - 50w. Is that both 30k - 50k Cycle Power?
+virtualtech pw Watts and Cycles Per Second are two totally different things.
Cycles Per Second is a measure of frequency and is more commonly expressed as hertz such as Kilohertz, megahertz or gigahertz.
A Watt is a unit of power used to express the rate of energy conversion or transfer with respect to time.
how can i get this ultrasonic cleaning machine and how many sizes in that. it is effordable???
It depends on what you will clean, the size of your object, and how many you want to clean at one time. The price is different from 30USD to above 10000USD.
You may contact prakash.tradebrite@gmail.com. Will provide you all information that is required.
Can i know the Ultrasonic frequency and power used for cleaning
It depends on what you will clean, the size of your object and how many you want to clean at one time.
@@michaelclean771 thanks for the reply, it's a 5 numbers of 2 meter cable.
@@murugesh3529 What kind of cable? Are you in India? I remember there are some companies making cable cleaning machines in India but usually a large one. Maybe you can send an email to my mailbox, I will take a look for you when I receive it.
so which chemical are you using with water?
saj kwi he said detergent
Is there any effect on helth for long time uses
So long as you aren't swimming in one as it's running and the cleaning solution isn't giving off noxious fumes there's no reason this would cause any harm.
@@D8W2P4 Yes, you are right. But the noise of the large unit might be a problem so you better wear ear protection for a large unit.
Wow😮
How important is the specific frequency?
wolfedog99
Super important as well as power (watts).
It is very important because some soft surface might be damaged in the wrong frequency.
what is the orientation of ultrasound sensor?
Usually, they are at the bottom of the tank. But it can be designed at the different sides of the tank according to your cleaning task.
Hi, Does anybody know if it's possible to do the cleaning process with the flowing water? I mean if I apply the vibration to a metal pipe that water flows in it; does the output water can do the cleaning?
Ali Farzian yes. This is how radiators are cleaned in a house when lower flushing. Vibration is applied to them using a hammer drill and special attachment.
Thanks Phil, by "output water" I mean that the water came out of the pipe, In a close range, does it have the cavitation effects?
I mean if water is not confined in a container, will the cavitation effect remain for for a short time?
Ali Farzian this is above my expertise lol. I'm not going to bullshit you with a made up response lol. Try Google. I'm sure there is lots of experts know the answer to this. It's a good question. My guess would be it would definitely have an effect of some description. The flowing water would carry away waste removed by the vibrations.
When the water leaves the ultrasonic tank, it won't do the cleaning job for you.
Ali, do you have the Scaling as a contaminant inside the Pipe? There is an instant Bio descaler, which would work here. Need to be socked or pumped through circulation. Heat exchanger tube bundles are put through an Ultrasonic tank for cleaning.
Wow
What’s the power consumption?
The power consumption can be different on different machines from 60W to above 30KW.
its like magic. dentist use this technology to clean tartar on teeth.
can it clean shirt?
yep but dnt use acetone for cleanig shirt hehehehe
hello sir i need ultrasonic machine i am from pakistan

Now that's a REAL ultrasonic cleaner! Too bad we don't all have $24,000 for one. We could clean ALL of our guns at once.

LOL, ultrasonic cleaning already used in dishwashing.
Wowwwwww!!!!!
I am I new one here?

Here you are missing out a huge potential
Honestly, I am totally against animal cruelty, but I have a very weird but powerful desire to see like a fish or octopus or something inside an ultrasonic cleaner while it is running.
Richard Smith I wonder what it would look like if inserted here. I would bet it would be highly irritative as it drives oils outside the skin ?
+Richard Smith It would fuck it up!
Understand how cavitation works. The energy from the formation and collapse of the cavitation bubble generates about as much heat as on the surface of the sun.
adstow What the fuck mate. Surface of the Sun = 5505 °C. Are you sure about what you are saying ?
***** He's full of shit, I have had my hand in one of those. Uncomfortable, but thats it. Left me with very dry hands needing moisturizer, like after doing dishes or something.
Richard Smith cdrhkk c
can you fry chips in that :)
It doesn't heat up.
TheBzlai Hi, I was actually gonna ask, I've heard ultrasonic cavitation results in very high temperature heat, up to 5,500 C hence sonochemistry interactions etc, is that correct?
That's actually true, I have a small unit and I've noticed the solution heats up after running for a few minutes, but not as high as 5,000C, just below boiling.
Now to see if its really clean use brake cleaner and rub with an ear picker . See if it gets dark
Not too good for cleaning the cat though.
can I send samples to you guys and develop a Chemical Machine setting combo that could clean it. do message me in Google Plus..

@@mrGovnoff any order
@@mrGovnoff any order
Now im sure some idiot will stick their hand in it and I assume that would not be good.
Nothing would happen. The ultrasonic vibrations only cause whatever liquid solution to create microscopic cavitation. If the solution was water, it would feel like similar to what it would be if you stuck your hand in a jacuzzi. Any potential danger would come from what form of solution you put into the tank, like a tank of acid or something.
TheBzlai It would likely just leave your hand feeling really dry :P As the cavitations would drive off all the oils from the skin.
Highway Star You should never dip any part of your body in the bath while the ultrasonic cleaner is running. The skin can be irritated and the joint tissues can be damaged by the energy produced by ultrasonic waves. Ultrasonic energy can also cause arthritis.
Ultrasound can burn. Unless you are sure of the strength I wouldn't advise putting your hand in there!
Maybe some idiot has already stuck their manhood into one of these "just to see if it works?!" The cavitational vibrations could be a great aphrodisiac. ha-ha- jk
SO why don't we have dishwashers with this ultrasonic technology?.
Possible damage, expense, you made the choice not to buy it. Simple, really.
Actually, there were some companies already doing this but it is usually used in the commercial kitchen. Maybe one day it will come into our daily life.
for the price of one i could buy new dishes for every meal
Those aren't the reasons. The reason is that you need to immerse everything under the water. How many gallons of water would that take? Too many. If you were willing to put all your dishes into the bathtub and do it that way, fine. But then they would throw you into the crazy house for being nuts.
