- The echoes of the Garrett Adelstein vs. Robbi Jade Lew scandal on Hustler Casino Live can still be heard in the poker world. Well, once again, accusations of cheating erupted live on stream as GT's pocket rockets were crushed by Luda Chris' ludicrous play!
When playing super deep stacked poker, some of the best preflop hands to bluff with are suited connectors and suited gappers because when you do happen to flop a strong hand, you are likely to get paid off, and when you don’t, you can often represent the high cards like aces or kings.
Luda Chris is introduced as a long time regular on the show who plays up to $200/$400. The commentator mentions during the player introductions that Luda Chris’ favorite hand is K3, and “any other hand you could possibly put together”.
GT is introduced as a tech guy from San Francisco who loves to gamble. He often flies in to play on the Hustler Casino Live stream and is part of the Hustler family.

Close to a million dollars was spent transforming the casino’s high-limit poker room, the Crystal Room, into the set of this new state-of-the-art live show. In the ante game, all players post $25 as an ante, but the player on the button posts $50. The action starts to the left of the button (small blind), and players need to cover the $50 ante to enter the pot.

The ante game action kicks off from the small blind, where Mike X calls the extra $25 with his J3 of clubs. Francisco and Mike X fold, but Luda Chris, undeterred, calls to see a flop heads-up with GT.

After Luda Chris hits trips on this dream flop he decides to check, allowing GT to fire out a small bet of $15,000 with his overpair. Luda Chris sets the trap and decides to just call as they both head to the turn.

The turn J of diamonds brings a potential backdoor flush draw. Once again, Luda Chris checks to the aggressor. GT might be suspicious that he is beat here as he opts to check back.
🌊 River - 7s
After the 7 of spades completes the board. Luda Chris, with trips, decides he wants to take over the betting lead in the hand and become the aggressor. He slides all his chips across the line and announces “all-in” for $32,225. GT doesn’t like this half pot-sized bet. But what will he do with aces - call or fold? Do YOU think Luda Chris cheated or not? 🤯
You can't look at cheating allegations against Luda by just watching this hand (even though calling off a third of his stack with 86s out of position for so much money is definitely sus imo). Luda has a history of cheating allegations against him and was kicked off LATB because of the allegations. Ryan Feldman is Luda's ex room mate and very good friend, he was also part of production at LATB and is at HCL. There's very long and detailed Reddit threads about allegations against Luda and Feldman that you have to take into account when talking about this topic.
Garret has even called them out over this.
I don't think he did, but I'm curious how GT can be so sure, and if he's sure, how exactly did he cheat? He mentions a watch beeping. Are there examples of this being used in the past? Saying someone cheated, and mentioning a mysterious watch beeping seems illogical and more of a sign that he's on tilt more than anything else. Getting your Aces cracked on the flop is a tough spot but I've never heard anyone accusing someone of cheating because of it. Seems like a low brow move from this guy, then he goes into himself being persecuted, sad. Time to take a break if this is how you act on live TV.

Plus a professional player and coach is saying it's not unreasonable and everyone at the table is confirming that he does stuff like this all the time. Absolutely no foul play, just a bad beat and there's been way worse bad beats where the loser didn't accuse the winner of cheating. This dude is just a sore loser and shouldn't be invited back because he can't handle table.

@@FriendsForFriends666it's only 30% of his stack if you take into account the dead money that is already out there ( he started the hand with 66k, and by the time of the 19k bet already had in 6k), so the the 13k call was for only a little over 20% of his remaining stack. Having watched this guy play before, not an stock call for him, TBH. To answer your question, though, he was down a LOT, but recently got unstuck to be up around 250k over the past year. So, yeah, he's had some pretty big swings, which isn't surprising.

Just today at 1/2 at Foxwoods I had AA in LP.
UTG, r10, +2, +3 calls, I make it $50. $200 effective. UTG calls, everyone else folds. Flop comes QsJd6h, UTG checks, I bet $35 UTG shoves, I call. UTG HAS J6 of clubs… these things happen, it’s NOT cheating.

The thing that seemed strangest to me was raising to 6000$ with 8 6 suited. The psychology of the situation when you're already invested 6000, and Luda did not know he was going up against aces, I can see the call in that spot.
As for whether Luda was cheating, I haven't watched a lot of his play, but from what little I know about him, he likes to play very crazy, or "ludicrously", so no, I don't think he was cheating. I just think he plays contrary to what modern poker theory says he should do

I don't think he cheated, but it's an awful play, which does make it weirder coming from a pro than at a 1/2 game. I think it's sufficiently out of line that I can at least understand why GT is suspicious.
That said, JL always gives great analysis, but the idea that 86s is okay "because they are deep" makes no sense here. It's not about the number of BB they started with. GT made it 19k preflop and Luda has 60k left. He's going to the flop *out of position* with just over 1 SPR. How is even 67s or 87s supposed to realize here?
JT did say some for the best hands are suited C's when you are deepstacked. But literally the very next sentence JT countered this with " I think LudaChris was probably a bit too ludacris pre-flop, with calling a somewhat big re-raise with the suited gapper from OOP"

More often the board comes Q83 or two hearts or 97x and you're priced in to call off your stack as an underdog.
IO makes sense to put in maybe 5% of your stack, and even then you need a 4bettor who is blind to possible flushes and straights.

There's literally no way to cheat unless the dealer is in on it, which isn't the case. Things don't add up because probability is involved. The deck is shuffled every hand. You are not a poker player, if you are I can assure you that you're not good

People do weird stuff in live games. If someone makes a non standard "bad" play and gets called a cheater for it how many players would be left? Feels like the guy is being a poor sport losing the pot.
That being said, Chris took that really well. As a poker player, being called a cheat and slandering someone’s reputation is a huge deal and should never be said lightly, so prob not the best to decide such a stance moments after you get sucked out on for 6 figures. I’ve been called a cheat twice in my life, each time things got ugly. I won’t ever be called a cheater when I’m not, I’m always gunna make a scene about it.

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but when Jonathan Little says at 2.22 that some of the best hands to bluff with are going to be suited connectors, and that Luda's hand isn't as good as it's a suited gapper, why is that the case?
I understand that 87 will beat 86, but if we're talking in the context of bluffing, both are suited and both require 3 cards to make a straight. Isn't it essentially the same thing?

afaik nowadays A2s - A5s and even some otherwise unplayable Kxs (say K9s) are preferred to 87s for this squeeze. The ace blocker drastically reduces the chances you're against AA or AK.
87s isn't awful to semibluff but lacks the blocking. you should get in enough 3 bet bluffs in with those blocker hands. adding in even more is bluffing way too much.

That said if you're a beginner in a live 1-3 game, first learn the basics then start doing this with A5s just to get a feel for light 3 betting and see what happens. If no one ever folds to your 3 bet then you don't need a 3 bet semibluff range for it. If you take down pots, try adding a few more light 3 bets to make them pay for folding to your value 3 bets.
He called him a cheater and accused the entire game of having zero integrity but kept playing for an additional ten minutes (on this video) and flicking in his blinds. He specifically said he would refuse to listen to evidence that the guy isn’t a cheater, based on his feeling. He wanted to whine and was out of line.
I don't think so. That seems Luda's style of play. He looks for a way to win pots. Whether it's a bluff or hits the flop
86s has a lot more potential pre-flop than people realize. Nobody in a multi-way pot would have your outs or often play the same range. Rookies are the ones relying solely on standard hands as their entire arsenal.

This is standard for the guy. He did the same thing a year ago go where he called a large 4 bet with Q-10 off and ended up cracking aces.. People hold aces to long, I’ve done the same thing.
The commentary when he plays reminds me so much of GodKing Postle, not during this hand but just watching the stream, they talk about him like he's on another level.
This doesn't look like cheating. It's nothing like the Robbi v Gman hand, nor the Postle hands.
He will not want to return and there is no way he will be invited back. So everyone gets what they want in the end.
If the guy knew what you had, he probably would have shoved the turn to avoid scaring you off with a King, or a diamond on the river.
He also accused the casino of cheating. If this was a home game, he might have a point. A casino however is highly unlikely to want to bust someone early when they can keep everyone at the table a rack up more tips and rake. If they were colluding, they would have done it much later in the session and they certainly wouldn't have done it during a streamed game where everything can be meticulously reviewed by all the players who potentially would play there. Short term gain for long term losses makes zero sense.

Had my aces cracked in a 4 bet pot by 5-2 suited. I flopped a set they flopped a steel wheel.
There is always the possibility of cheating, but this hand shows no red flags at all.
The more suspicious thing is Nick walking off stream the next time Luda played and he made a very loose call when usually a nit. Now I am not saying Luda cheated the last time he was on the show. I am saying I suspect many of these players just share the winnings later off stream and it is a show for certain players. Which of this is the case sorta makes the game less to me. I don’t have any evidence this happens later.

I just can't see this hand being cheated. The crazy part isn't post flop its pre. Are we really saying Luda knew the deck? is the dealer that good at mechanics? seems a pretty remote chance to me.
I’d say strangest thing is Luda saying “wow didn’t think you had aces”. What did he think then? AK? Quite thin river bet with an 8 if you don’t think they have AA.
Overall just looked like fairly amateur hand more than cheating.
When I first started playing poker, I cold called a 4 bet with K9 suited and flopped trip nines. Unlike luda, my first run up didn’t take me to the high stakes. But they didn’t wanna search my butthole for a vibrating butt plug, I just got called bad. 😢

Implied odds? He had an SPR of 1, he put 400 bbs in with 8/6 , he has been accused by multiple players of cheating, he was living with the stream owner for years and the shuffling machines can be hacked and manipulated, I actually don't think he cheated bit to just shrug it off as he got caught up is ridiculous.

I have no idea who Luda Chris is and i'm just a micro stakes regular. If player calls big 4bet with a 86s out of position, he is not just a fish, he is a fat golden goose everyone would be happy to play with. He plays every second hand and bluffs every third one. But if Luda Chris is a competent player, i could believe that something was wrong with a dealer.

I play in a cash game where people gamble and call off their stacks with suited rags all the time preflop. It's called gambling, bingo or just crazy play. It's not poker but u want those calls all day. Eventually they get lucky some of the time.
They quickly changed dealers.....smart!
I played a live tournament last night, blinds were 100/200. I had AA. 1st to act raises to 1,500 (I immediately know they have AK, KK, or QQ based on the player). I raise to 5,000. Another player behind calls. 1st to act goes all in, I go all in, and the last guy who called the 5K looks me dead in the eyes and calls the all in. I was right on 1st to act, he had QQ. The other opponent called with Q8 suited!!!! Dumbest call ever, but for some reason I knew the dumb caller was going to win. I wasn't afraid of a Q coming out since 3 were accounted for, and of course the turn/river were both 8s. Thankfully Q8 was small stacked - which is probably why he shipped it - but still, this type of play does happen. Some people just like to gamble
That being said, I can't stand when players take a loss so disgracefully as GT. Suckouts are part of the game, its 10000x more enjoyable when you just ride out the waves and don't act like a douche
He can be upset and go full tilt. But once you accuse someone of cheating, using evidence of this hand and Airball’s 44, you better bring receipts or be prepared to have your reputation destroyed.
There 2 questions though; did he cheat? (No), is it ok to slander someone on a live stream for 10 minutes+? If someone called me a cheat to thousands of people, constantly, I’d be calling the manager and possibly a lawyer

Luda doesn’t have a very good poker face. It’s easy to tell he has something good when he says “around 30” at the end. It’s the same as saying “it’s just 30 k more” like hey may as well pay it off.

Just to put this out there a player was caught with an "electric" signal ball in their private. Only reason it was caught was because it came out roughly later in hotel room.
