One thing is make sure you have storage room in your box for Pokémon before you go in. I got to the Pokémon and tried to catch it but was out of room in my box so I didn’t get to catch it.
First time playing Yellow currently, and I wasn't aiming for Articuno, I just saw it and went for it... It was in a regular poke ball before I realized what I was doing... After my level 41 Pikachu gave it a paralyzing beat down.
@@Babyybooyy Gen I had this annoying quirk where if a Pokemon storage box was full, it flat out denied you being able to throw Pokeballs, and it wouldn't tell you before getting into a battle and trying to catch a pokemon. Storage boxes had 20 slots so it was very easy to cap them out. Gen II remedied this with Bill letting you know via PokeGear that a box was full, and Gen III finally had them automatically going to the next box without the need to manually change them.
Lol, yup. It never ceases to amaze me how much we endeavored as kids in the 90s, playing through this stuff. Here I am, playing it again 20 years later thinking, "How the hell did I figure this out originally?!" I think I killed Articuno as well, back when I originally played it. But amazingly, I caught it with just one ultra ball this time. Granted, I did Hypnosis it into sleeping and used Dream Eater until I got its HP into the red zone.
Same man lol. I'm 30 and during lockdown I decided to get the old Gameboy Colour out and play this. Literally been stuck on this for like 5 hours. Tbf I caught a good few Pokemon but now I only have 7 ultra balls left to try and catch Articuno. And for some reason I only have like 5 grand left of money, I think it was because I kept trying to battle Giovanni and losing. My Pikachu is level 55, my Nidoking is level 42, my Pidgeotto is level 36, my Graveler is level 41, Charizard is level 36 and Blastoise is level 37 but I've run out of trainer battles to level them up. It's gonna be such a grind lmao. I thought I rotated my Pokemon fairly in battles to get xp but apparently not. Idk how I did this so easily when I was 10.
@@roryslaine7896 I have no idea how we did this so easily as kids back in the late 90s. I decided this time that I wasn't going to let the game frustrate me so this walkthrough is a godsend. I always went with: Alakazam, Gengar, Gyrados, Dragonite, Drowsy and Charizard.
You da best for posting this video. I was so lost beforehand. Im 30 years old replaying yellow, and i cant imagine little 10 year me ever figureing this out on my own 😂
Feb 16 2023 I used this video to find my way through the darkness, I thank you past video producer and your wit to fight through the islands using your mite and strength to guide me. I am grateful thank you
Thank you so much! I know this comment is a bit late... this video was posted 2011. But still, thanks a lot! All the other walk through were slow and no one used repels! You’re doing gods work here
I don't know if you've seen Snorlax in LGPE, but when you set Snorlax as a Follower it becomes a mount. The way Starterchu/Vee and the player character cling to Snorlax's stomach is a reference to My Neighbour Totoro. I thought that was adorable when I first saw it.
Sleep doesn't last sadly. Why a regular Pokéball? I understand some use Poké Balls on legendaries for shits and giggles, but the game doesn't keep track of what Ball you caught it with, so if you transfer it it will always be in a Poké Ball regardless.
Based on your description, you have seen Pokemon Abridged. The husks of corn is one of my favorite jokes from the series! Back in my day, we used husks of corn to surf over water.
Pokémon Bridged is easily among the best Abridged series out there, shamefully underrated. "The vibrations from these cave echoes are making my nipples lactate. Who's thirsty?"
In every Pokémon game, when throwing a Pokéball it wobbles 3 times and then it's caught. The ball missing a Poke in Gen I is the equivalent of an instant breakout, or 0 wobble, in Gen II onwards.
megaluxrayx if you keep missing when throwing a poke ball its likely because the health isn't low enough + no status effect. if the pokemon is asleep you can basically get it into the ball (not necessarily catch) every time you throw one
I got stuck in the cave because I didn't teach any of my Pokemon strength can someone help me get out and the worst part is I saved in the cave so someone help me please
I fear I may have fucked myself. I put my dig pokemon in the pc and now can't get out because I didmt do the first 2 boulders and I've no escape ropes.
Only one. If you fail to catch it you lose it for that save file. Most of the Pokémon games follow that trend of only having one of each Legendary per playthrough. Special exceptions are Roaming pokemon which flee but can be encountered again with the same HP and status effect it had from previous fights until it's either caught or defeated (and if defeated you lose it) and the few that allow rematches, but you only get a second chance once; most notable is Giratina, in Platinum I believe, and Suicune in HG/SS.
1. Having a Pikachu know Surf and making it use it on a water tile. To get Surf you can either cheat it onto its moveset, or through the more convoluted way of satisfying the requirements to teach Surf to Pikachu on Pokémon Stadium and trading it. 2. No. I just did for convenience.
In pokemon yellow all the regular pokeballs-ultraballs keep "missing" articuno but not the master ball, I made it go to legit 1 health. Paralysed it, Through 10 Ultra Balls. All of them missed.
Articuno at full health has a 0.4% catch rate; has a higher chance with better balls, low health and a status condition. You just got very unlucky with the RNG. FYI a ball missing in Gen I is the equivalent of a 0-wobble, or instant breakout, in later generations.
This is pretty late into the game, before the 7th Gym. Though if you sequence break you can get it as early as 4 badges. The earliest Legendary you can get is Zapdos, with 3 badges. Again still requires you to sequence break and get Surf.

Dan Keeton dude you should still be able to catch it just no keep it on you it goes to bills pc

Good to see people playing to this day
I just used this to find my way out of Seafoam in Let's Go! Pikachu. Still useful even today.
I'm glad it helped. Handy that the layout is still generally the same
This cave was hell. I was to frustrated that i just killed articuno without a care in the world. Thanks a lot bro!

1:50 I only have 1 rock for each, so I can't plug those two holes. I don't understand why. I followed this guide to the step
Thanks! Finally got out of the cave
Thank you for this. I couldn't remember how to get through here. Been twenty years since I last played this game!

The game's two decades old.
You're not too late, don't worry.
thanks for the video. played this first in 99', replaying it now cant remember how i solved this back then without youtube
Ikr. It was fuck around and find out decades before it became a thing. Several generations made their way through life on that concept 😂😂
how do i get through the water around 1:30 ? i just can’t do it man the current keeps bringing me down
You sir, are doing the lords work
Thank you for this video I thought I was going to lose all my progress because I couldn't escape

Im stuck in here forever I don't have strength or an escape rope

i did every thing u did but tht rocks did not show so now i have to reset the whole game unless u can find a diffrent way to get out of this place

How do Pokémon keep appearing even though I’m using a max repel
Underlevelled perhaps.
It only avoids encounters if the 'mon in front is higher level than the encounters.
I keep missing articuno. Is that on purpose?
