Although she is not fanatical about being anti-demon, she is fanatical about obeying orders. When Eris introduced herself as a Superd, the worst of the demon tribes, Therese took that to mean Eris was very adamant about not wanting to be associated with her faction and that she didn't want any reward. Eris of course meant nothing by it and was just copying what Rudy often did.
What was also cut from the anime Rudy meets this same Aunt and she what allowed them to make the second boat crossing to the central content with out having to pay a fortune because they were traveling with suprd. When Rudy first sees her he mistakes her for Zenith

One of the biggest things people seem to never talk a out this show. Is how easy it is to kill things and people. Probably because we watch so much stories about killing. But Rudy is actually more like us in that he finds it very hard to kill and it scares him so much that when he is in situations where he knows that the other person wants to kill him or would not think twice in doing so. He believes he will still not be bale to take a life and thay will end up killing him. Eris is awesome but it surprises me that nobody really figures that out about Rudy. Eventhough he could probably be considered a blessed or cursed child since he never cried as a baby. I remember reading the web novel and it mentioning how Blessed and cursed children can be seen as the same thing.
In terms of sword versus magic in this world. In a general sense most mages are at disadvantage to most sword users at close range due to the time it takes to cast spells so in general mages have to really careful against even less powerful sword users. It also depends on sword style and obviously nothing is concrete in such a broad statement as other abilities etc would need to be taken into account. Of course sword users sort of use magic in this world not to the extent or way as mages but sword users use their mana internally to make themselves stronger, faster etc. You can think of it like Ki from Dragonball but in this world it's referred to as battle aura or Toki. It's why Eris can cut giant snakes in half etc.

Wouldn't Eris's training with Ruijerd mean she's effectively equivalent to advanced in North God style, as well? (Since Ruijerd fights with a spear, his fighting style would be considered North God, I believe). Her use of deception and use of the environment when sparring with Rudy seem to be more consistent with North God style, as well.
to be fair to cliff, hes actually a genius in magic. its just rudy had the advantage of having an adult mind since birth so ironically coming from a world without magic also, rudy didnt even think to not be able to cast silently. everyone else is taught that they have to use incantations, makign them far slower. the really good ones(including roxy) can cut down the incantations and speed up thier casting. so rudy has no incantations and because he started so early , he has, as orsted said, similar mana levels to the demon god lapalace. im going to assume that lapalace started at an early age also.

The little girl is protege of a archbishop that commands the main opposing faction (the faction that is in favor of the discrimination). That is why everyone involved was baffled with the position to what Superd or someone that identifies as Superd took in this battle. (The conflic and positions of both factios goes way deeper that "racist bad vs non racist good" and as every thing in Mushoku Tensei is way Greyer that you wold expect) While currently in power the pope appears looks like he's been losing the the faction strife as even his own protege (Cliff) seems to recognize her as the "next pope" and the desperate measures like assassination. On a side note Cliff probably was being raised to be the pope successor relying on his genius level magic talent. Some notes: 1) Cliff is cool. Don’t hate. 2) The anime skips over it, but, Ruijerd didn’t actually follow Eris. He actually went to visit an acquaintance in Millishion, a noble he once saved as a child many many years ago. It was this meeting, along with some other stuff I can’t really share due to spoilers that were strangely not animated here, that helped to get them a ship from Millis to Central. 3) Pay attention to everything here. A lot comes back in to play later. No specifics due to spoilers. Some are immediately spoiled in the first season 2 trailer. 4) I want to explain Cliff’s back story animation, but I’m not sure how much they’re going to talk about in the future, so unfortunately, I can’t reveal any details here. 5) Chasing a cat… didn’t Aria, another swordswoman, do that? 6) It’s a shame Rudy and his dad had such a huge fight and Eris had to console him. She immediately forgot everything that happened, and Rudy could have used some of that info. 7) Audio level of your overdubs and clip inserts were very loud, literally every time you inserted audio. Please don’t do that. At least not so loud. 8) Cliff is actually quite close to Rudeus in skill generally, but much better than him in holy magic and healing, as well as other things in the future. The only real difference is his inability to use voiceless magic. He and Rudy are very very close at this point. Cliff may be more knowledgeable at this point, if less experienced and less innately powerful. 9) Cliff is not, and will not be, the first or only dude who instantly falls for Eris. It’s funny every time. 10) He’s not mansplaining, he genuinely thinks she, and most everyone really, doesn’t know anything about magic. One thing you have to understand is that Cliff was treated as a prodigy by his teachers and those who raised him. He’s very socially crippled by that. 11) The assassins were from the same faction as the pope. They were not actually necessarily acting on his orders. In general, unlike most anime, this pope is actually a pretty decent guy. More info than that creeps into major plot spoiler area. 12) Look at the knight. Look at her again. Remember who is from the area… 13) The pope is the leader of the Millisian faith, followers of Saint Millis. Saint Millis is the one who cleaved the mountain with one sword slash. This pope is actually from the pro-tolerance faction, that is, he is not anti demon. He’s trying to liberalize the faith. 14) Also, a nice callback to the Rudy flying thing, that they didn’t actually animate when he learned it in Doldia Village.
@@AnimeDateNight This was some great, non-spoiler info. The changes to this episode boggle my mind. Not introducing Theresa past the first scene is story altering. Her and the little Blessed Child matter. All that I could say. The fact that they don't get involved with the Port Authority guy, or have Rudi meet Theresa, or have Theresa give them seasickness medicine and get them onto the boat, having Ruijerdfollow Eris rather than go run his errand...those changes will have to be directly addressed in a future season, unless the tale will get changed. If they really plan of going the full adaptation, changing side character parts will make the director's life very difficult later. At least this OVA was damn fun.

I wouldn't say Cliff is cool. He is just Rudy had Rudy not been a reincarnation and let the power go to his head. He is probably smarter then Rudy only because he knows more about the world then Rudy does. Although that could be thrown on in that Rudy is a better innovator when it comes to magic. And Cliff is more by the book.
I can't help it man, Cliff is one of my favorite characters, and I cannot wait for us to explore him more next season. Best boy material. Also the payoff for this is soooooooooo long that it's genuinely cool how the author planned it ahead.
Ruijerd has emperor-level power. If you dont count the 7 great powers, you can count with one hand the amount of people that can match ruijerd in combat. He is very strong. In the books is more detailes about how many people challenged ruijerd to combat when they were in the demon continent, especially some people that i cant talk now because it's spoilers lol... but yes, ruijerd is very very strong.
This church conflict doesn't REALLY matter in the story until book 19/Season 4 (probably). And there are no starfish involved. The church had nothing to do with Sauros's death. They have almost no power anywhere outside of the Millis Continent. If you watch that execution scene again and watch the end credit scene of the last episode, you may notice something. Sadly, it won't be until season 3, most likely, that Eris rejoins the cast (though we may get a few asides just to let us know what/how she's doing). So either get to reading or expect a LONG wait.

what made paul so impressive is that he was advanced in all three sword styles. thats extremely rare. most people specialize in one. but paul was talented enough to actually be proficient in all three. to boil the sword styles down further, sword god is more aggressive, water god is counter punching and northgod is sneaky dirty underhanded.

Not really a spoiler, but the plot threads in this OVA with the Pope and Archbishops and stuff will directly tie into the next seasons of Mushoku Tensei, most probably Season 4 or 5.
Cliff become important in the 2nd season, which is why I'm glad they did this OVA because it was skipped content from the LN. This is the earliest version of him so he is full of himself and he has a very big head because he is good with magic. Unlike Rudy who even though he was good with magic has the experience of his previous life to keep him humble. I don't can't talk more about Rudy without spoilers, but they needed this episode to introduce him for season to. Also the female knight that was with the girl Eris saved is Zenith's sister/Rudy's aunt, which is more content from the LN they skipped. This whole episode is... actually volume 6 itself is a good reason to read the LN there is some skipped content here that never makes it to the anime that is important to future events. The anime still did a really good job, but in the end some stuff got cut out, it may seem small, but small stuff usually is the beginning of big stuff in this story.

Because Therese plays a role later in the story, they will have to introduce her as Zenith's sister at some point. The cut content involving the struggles with the portmaster where Therise helps will never be adapted because in the anime they received a letter of introduction from Paul.
By this worlds standards, Rudeus is a near impossible anomaly, and Cliff is *just* an exceptional prodigy. As annoying as it is, his pride and arrogance are pretty justified, because he really is an excellent mage for his age. It's just our standard, and Eris's standard is Rudeus, who should be seen as an exception, and not the standard.

10) He’s not mansplaining, he genuinely thinks she, and most everyone really, doesn’t know anything about magic. One thing you have to understand is that Cliff was treated as a prodigy by his teachers and those who raised him. He’s very socially crippled by that.
11) The assassins were from the same faction as the pope. They were not actually necessarily acting on his orders. In general, unlike most anime, this pope is actually a pretty decent guy. More info than that creeps into major plot spoiler area.

13) The pope is the leader of the Millisian faith, followers of Saint Millis. Saint Millis is the one who cleaved the mountain with one sword slash. This pope is actually from the pro-tolerance faction, that is, he is not anti demon. He’s trying to liberalize the faith.
14) Also, a nice callback to the Rudy flying thing, that they didn’t actually animate when he learned it in Doldia Village.

@@AnimeDateNight This was some great, non-spoiler info. The changes to this episode boggle my mind. Not introducing Theresa past the first scene is story altering. Her and the little Blessed Child matter. All that I could say.
The fact that they don't get involved with the Port Authority guy, or have Rudi meet Theresa, or have Theresa give them seasickness medicine and get them onto the boat, having Ruijerdfollow Eris rather than go run his errand...those changes will have to be directly addressed in a future season, unless the tale will get changed.
If they really plan of going the full adaptation, changing side character parts will make the director's life very difficult later. At least this OVA was damn fun.
@@kallistikaleidI feel they are just going to do the manga route and try to really just focus on Rudy and his story. I know you can't animate everything. But it does seem like they have to get to certain spots within a number of episodes.
I wouldn't say Cliff is cool. He is just Rudy had Rudy not been a reincarnation and let the power go to his head. He is probably smarter then Rudy only because he knows more about the world then Rudy does. Although that could be thrown on in that Rudy is a better innovator when it comes to magic. And Cliff is more by the book.

Ruijerd is actually stronger than Gilane, but not that much. It's around 1-2 steps, not another whole-level
Ruijerd has emperor-level power. If you dont count the 7 great powers, you can count with one hand the amount of people that can match ruijerd in combat. He is very strong. In the books is more detailes about how many people challenged ruijerd to combat when they were in the demon continent, especially some people that i cant talk now because it's spoilers lol... but yes, ruijerd is very very strong.
This church conflict doesn't REALLY matter in the story until book 19/Season 4 (probably).
And there are no starfish involved.
The church had nothing to do with Sauros's death. They have almost no power anywhere outside of the Millis Continent. If you watch that execution scene again and watch the end credit scene of the last episode, you may notice something.
Sadly, it won't be until season 3, most likely, that Eris rejoins the cast (though we may get a few asides just to let us know what/how she's doing). So either get to reading or expect a LONG wait.

what made paul so impressive is that he was advanced in all three sword styles. thats extremely rare. most people specialize in one. but paul was talented enough to actually be proficient in all three. to boil the sword styles down further, sword god is more aggressive, water god is counter punching and northgod is sneaky dirty underhanded.
Wouldn't Ruijerd also count as North God style, and by extension Eris also uses this style sometimes because she's been learning from him?

Not really a spoiler, but the plot threads in this OVA with the Pope and Archbishops and stuff will directly tie into the next seasons of Mushoku Tensei, most probably Season 4 or 5.

Cliff become important in the 2nd season, which is why I'm glad they did this OVA because it was skipped content from the LN. This is the earliest version of him so he is full of himself and he has a very big head because he is good with magic. Unlike Rudy who even though he was good with magic has the experience of his previous life to keep him humble. I don't can't talk more about Rudy without spoilers, but they needed this episode to introduce him for season to. Also the female knight that was with the girl Eris saved is Zenith's sister/Rudy's aunt, which is more content from the LN they skipped. This whole episode is... actually volume 6 itself is a good reason to read the LN there is some skipped content here that never makes it to the anime that is important to future events. The anime still did a really good job, but in the end some stuff got cut out, it may seem small, but small stuff usually is the beginning of big stuff in this story.

@@randomuniquehandle When anime is adapted from light novels there's tons of stuff that never makes it into the anime. The anime probably won't come back and tell us later. Because Therese plays a role later in the story, they will have to introduce her as Zenith's sister at some point. The cut content involving the struggles with the portmaster where Therise helps will never be adapted because in the anime they received a letter of introduction from Paul.

By this worlds standards, Rudeus is a near impossible anomaly, and Cliff is *just* an exceptional prodigy. As annoying as it is, his pride and arrogance are pretty justified, because he really is an excellent mage for his age. It's just our standard, and Eris's standard is Rudeus, who should be seen as an exception, and not the standard.
