Love the three Square abstract photos together 👍
Thanks for the PSA on respecting the landscape. As photographers who post to social media, we often influence others to seek out these amazing locations so they can see them for themselves. But with that increased traffic comes the risk of people destroying the landscape. I wrestle with how much to share of a location online for this reason. I think you taking time out in your video to express the importance of leaving the sites untouched is an extremely important message for others to be reminded of, so again, thank you!
I couldn't agree more!
The first composition, I like the sky, it adds scale to how many flowers there were.
It’s tough to capture such an expansive vista. You did a great job with that 400. And thanks for putting out the word about flora trampling.
it's nice meeting you at the field.
Thanks for sharing the aerial footage .The images are absolutely wonderful ....once again, thank you for sharing....
The Carrizo Plain was just so beautiful this year. If you drive west on Hwy 58, outside of Santa Margarita, there is a herd of Bison by the side of the road.
Like the sky, love a color contrast
Your first photo of the mountain looks like an Australian Opal....the colours and patterns are the same just beautiful
Bringing back all the great memories, Michael, awesome video!
Fantastic shots Michael.👍👍
Wow always so beautiful 😍 my favourites: the aerial shots and the wideangle flowers&tree&sun rays 🙂 the triptic very nice too, my preference is without sky, if not cloudy 🙂
The superbloom was so super I didn't have to travel from where I live to cover it. LA county. Every where was incredible, just had to open your eyes.
Beautiful! Love both compositions. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing shots. Reminds me of the impressionist movement. Especially Cezanne.
This video has a lovely atmosphere!
Thank you :)
Very impressive Michael! And, entertaining. Thanks. ✌️
Very very watcheable. I'm literally watching and picking up editing tips as well as the photography tips. Best wishes from the UK
michael, not only are you a brilliant photographer but also seem like a genuine person. 😊
Nice work Michael. The sky is a lovely blue but as for the zoomed in picture, it struck me that you could make a really nice triptych
I definitely like the sky included like in 2:37.
Hey my family farm has hundreds of acres of prairie flowers. Just wanted to let you know, most wildflowers are pretty good at repairing themselves and standing back up after just a couple days. I’m not promoting trampling them. Just hoping you can sleep a little better now. 😉😁
Beautiful! You are so talented. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for your enlightment
I love the diagonal lines passing through the adjoining panels of the triptych. Themselves forming a distinct ‘V’ from the center panel. Sometimes great composition doesn’t end at the camera!
I sooo agree with you about trampling the flowers. There used to be a beautiful stand of bluebonnets near my house. But so many people would stop and trample them into the ground, they are not anything like they once were.
It defineitly needs to be mentioned more I think, especially by the news articles that seem to push and promote the superblooms this year.
Your photos are amazing! Thanks for the video. It's very inspiring.
Looks like Carrizo Plains. Love that area for spring flowers. Unfortunately was not able to get this year. Loved this episode.
Beautiful work, the triptych works really well. I’m inspired to go out and shoot more, thanks !
Thank you!
Amazing work ❤
Thank you so much
Amazing pics!
Michael Shainblum, the considerate, responsible and oh so competent creative photographer ! Great work as always Michael!👏😀👍
How amazing it must have been to be on that shoot. Your photos are incredible. And, I love you message about not trampling the flowers. Great job, Michael!!
Let me know which image or technique from this video was your favorite! You can also check out all of these images in my new article.www.shainblumphoto.com/2023/05/21/wildflowers/
Loved the video, and they were all amazing photos. If you happen to be out in that area again, would you consider trying to capture photos of backlit flowers and / or shallow depth of field where you focus on something in the distance, and some flowers are out of focus in the foreground?
Incredible landscape and beautiful Superbloom Michael, love the triptych 👌the three images worked so well together. And it does need to be said whether you are walking through Bluebells in the UK, the delicate flora of Iceland or the Superbloom in California, we as photographers should be responsible and respectful and pass that on to others 👍
That explosion of colors is… no words to expess it !!
Absolutely stunning images! If that doesn't represent how go it really is I might have to buy myself a flight from Australia to visit next year.
The rain might've been brutal out here this year but the resulting wildflowers are amazing. And yes... people should mind their steps. 🙏 There are great trails that offer plenty of angles.
As a dog lover myself, I just had to smile at the paw prints on your jeans at 7:14! I prefer the one without the sky. What a fabulous location and video. Thanks for posting
Hi Michael, I’m so glad you got a chance to get out and shoot the super bloom this year! I didn’t have the freedom this year that I normally have in the past and so I enjoyed living vicariously through you. I think my favorites of this video were the breathtaking drone shots, and the wide angles, especially the yellow and blue flowers with the dead tree in the background. Beautiful video. Thank you.
Really glad you enjoyed the video thanks!
About the first photos: i love the abstract without the sky, but for once, the one with the sky is beautiful too!!
It really shows the beautiful colored mountain good!👍
Once again, really enjoyed watching this. As for the choice you gave us I preferred the more zoomed in ones. Although I like the shot with the sky the more focused one is the one I would go for myself. Once the 100-400 is screwed on it’s rarely leaving the camera after :)
Simply stunning from start to finish, and very difficult to favour one over another.
With the trio... the one with the red.
And, the wide-angle flowers and gnarled tree... perfect.
But really Michael, my heart is full at the moment. Absolutely beautiful.
Wow thank you so much Joan!
Beautiful…Watch out for Hardcastle, he might be lurking around somewhere.
Amazing colours and variety. Wild flowers also bloom in the UK from mid April to May, from the yellow buttercups to the bluebells - they don't last long though!
Your drone shots are always amazing. The one with the sky 💙
Thanks so much!
Carrizo plains is one of our bucket list to visit every year wether it's super bloom or not. My husband and I loved this place❤.
the 3 different images side by side.... GENIUS
Thank you for this beautiful video. The photographs are gorgeous, especially the triptych. If I had to choose a single image, I would go for the one with the sun star. I hope you did not encounter any rattlesnakes while being out there.
Your abstracts are out of this whorl :-)
Thanks so much!
Absolutely loved the 14mm shot of the flowers and the triptych pictures. Thanks for sharing with us! - Kathy
Thanks so much!
The tripdic was my favorite part! Loved the aerial perspectives so much better than the ground level views I saw from this place. Inspiring stuff buddy boiiiii 🙏🏻🙌🏼📷
Zoomed in version ❤
Truly outstanding and so beautiful to be one with nature ❤️❤️
As a subscriber to your channel, I always get so much out of your vlog's/tutorials and I thank you for that, Michael. Regarding your first two images, the addition of the sky for me has much more visual appeal/impact and WOW factor from a contextual perspective and I think what helps that is your choice of crop, the gentle curve of the main hill and the colour of the sky, which isn't apparent in the zoomed version, thanks for another amazing journey👌
Carrizo Plain National Monument was exceptionally beautiful this year.
Stunning images and scenery! And thanks for reminding people to respect nature.
Thank you. I live just a 30 minute drive from the bloom area off of Hwy 58. The bloom is beautiful!
Oh thats awesome! It was just spectacular!
Amazung shots (all the four types: abstract, landscape, drone shots and the stacked ones), and I do agree, midday was the best time for it. Great job, thanks, keep going!
Great video as always. Your quiet approach to landscape photography, and the accompanying video, are pleasant viewing.
What absolutely wonderful images. Always the zooms for me. Zooming in offers the best surprises.
Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed this 💛
Glad to hear that thanks!
Speaks more to my preferences, but that ultra-wide & then the drone images were my favorite!
Superbloom indeed Michael, WOW. Super impressive location with images to match.
Definitely agree, don’t trample the very thing you came to photograph.
Thanks Michael. Stay safe 🇦🇺
Thanks so much John!
I’m so taken away by the drone shots! So beautiful
The most interesting images were the drone images. The patterns were beautiful and such a different perspective.
Amazing pictures! Great job! In answering your question, I prefer the one with the sky. That's only because the other ones look too abstract to me, but they are awesome too.
Thanks man, really gald you liked that one!
Reminds me so much to a summer/spring fairytale
Agreed!
For the first photo, I prefer the sky included. If it was pure blue, I think it would be too much, but the wispy clouds keep it a complimentary blue rather than a dominating one.
Gorgeous imagery Michael! The tree with the wildflowers in the foreground and the drone images are my favorite. Cheers!
What a wonderful location to shoot! The abstract images at the start are really beautiful, that wide angle images though, absolutely stunning!
Nailing landscape photography like you is the 8th wonder of the world I think ❤
You are way too kind, thank you so much!
Great work! The spring super blooms in California are spectacular.
Thanks so much Brian!
I'm here watching your video that was released about 5-6days ago. You asked a question about displaying pictures in groups of 3s, looking at those 3 that you displayed and numbering them 1-3 from the left I would have #3 on the left and #1 on the right, it brings a bit more cohesiveness and order to the group..but that's only my humble opinion, enjoyed the video very much and look forward to your next....ps I see your still in love with that 100-400 lens lmy favorite as well but I'm a fujifim shooter, have fun and keep shooting those images
I like the image with the sky. Yes, the triptych;much better IMO! You selected the perfect order too!
Thanks so much Jeff!
Gorgeous images, the drone shots are out of this world
Loved the wide angle shot the best.
Stunning!
The shot at 5:57 is so cool. I loved it all actually. Amazing photography😎🤩
Wow! So beautiful!...
thank you!
I can imagine Paul and you arguing about allergies and putrid footwear. Some amazing shots, this would be something to see at least once in your life, the beauty is really captivating.
Absolutely stunning images...
thank you!
Hello. I prefer abstract version of the pictures and triptych looks great. What a stunning place! And you 're right, we should be careful and not trample flowers, when we photograph them.
Absolutely, its not worth a good image if it means destroying the thing you are photographing. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the photos!
Been waiting for this video! It was an honor meeting you that day
Great meeting you too, thanks so much! :)
Absolutelybeautiful!! As a physicist, I love the textures, patterns, and symetricays. What is the location? I prefer the tighter, more zoomed in. Version.
Stunning images, very inspiring! :-)
Great video, as far as the pictures I liked both of them one with the sky and one without. My favorite of was the wide angle one with the tree fanstic pictures.
Thanks so much Doug!
@@MichaelShainblum Your welcome I usually dont leave to many commits but that was a great video and I have been watching your site for a while
love your work ❤
Thank you :)
Nice Video! I was recently trying to accomplish the same near Las Vegas, but we do not have such beautiful subject matter. But personally, I was hoping to see some more panoramic shots or wider aspect ratios; 2:1, etc.
I don’t shoot a lot of wide panos, that’s not really my style. Unless I find a scene that really calls for that kind of crop.
5:37🔥
thank you!
This was outside LA? These are beautiful
My preference is to include the sky because the colors of the flowers and sky are complementary. Love the Carrizo Plain and there's some incredible geology there too! Did you shoot any night sky images? It's quite dark there, maybe Bortel Class 4 or 3? I shot there in the last supper bloom and used my 100-400 almost exclusively. The subject is so, so huge my comps were lost with wider angle views.
I love this video! I live next to a California hillside that's exploiting with color right now! So I'm going to use these techniques here. Roughly speaking, can you share where this is?
Oops I typed triptych about 2 seconds before you mentioned it!
I’m curious about how you adapted your Nikon 14mm to your Sony camera. I enjoy your photography
I like the group of three pictures and the one using the wider angle lens with the tree behind the composition. Your videos are always inspiring. Thank you for sharing. Question: Where is the location in California?
Re the images at 3:25: I, like you, like abstracted reality and I much prefer the cropped version. I'll go further and say I'd like to see the wider view cropped down to a pano. Bring those bare hills at left in for a bit of contrast against the florid slopes.
EDIT: funny you mention triptychs. The centerpiece of my living room wall display is a triptych of gnarly tree branch images taken at different times in different locations. They worked so well together, I bought a pack of pano paper just to print it. Now I need more pano photos so I don't waste all that paper!
Great suggestion John, thanks so much! I would love to see the gnarly tree photos!
My allergies would never allow me to sit in this beautiful landscape full of flowers
Mine were absolutely terrible last year. I did a workshop in Tuscany and it looked like I was dying the whole trip. This year I started doing a mix of flonase, astepro and zyrtec that seemed to do the trick in most cases.
@@MichaelShainblum Same! This year ive had to buy a few more Claritin tablets because my nose has been so runny!
What kind of adapter do you use on your Sony camera so that you can use your Nikon 14-24mm lens?
Novaflex is what I use.
Is that ultra wide shot a focal length blend?
nah, just an ultra wide scene
