phew just recapped my entire 20m2 with retro tech's list. Took about 6 hours
This seems similar to what’s happening with my PVM 14M2U, except it has less geometry issues. I ordered the same cap kit & kept having trouble keeping track of the caps I needed to check so maybe I’ll try that painter’s tape method

I have a vintage 1989 Sony that needs recapping that I've been reluctant to work on. This video gives me the confidence that it can be done. I might need to rent or buy a decent desoldering iron though as I think it will save me a lot of headaches.

brand new the SDI card was a $1200 option , nice that you have it, several years ago when I closed a post production editing suite I sold a few of these monitors for $100 to $300 .... nobody wanted them really, just a few years later retro gaming came in force and the price jumped

@@RedCowArcade in 2007 I bought a used Sony HDM 2830 for color grading, I paid $76 on ebay monitor was 9 or 10 years olf with 16:9 CRT supported 720P 1080i RGB weight about 240 lbs RGB and Y/pb/pr inputs no sdi option was available I wonder how much it would go for in today's crazy market

Loved this video. Quick question, is it only 21 caps that come in the kit from Savon Pat? As in the ones on the list you show?
Awesome find. I have a couple 14 inch PVMs. Recently had one serviced and calibrated by a professional with color tools. I also have a 20 inch consumer TV which needs to be serviced as well. I'm not very good at complicated solder jobs like this as I've ruined a handful of projects in the past.

I use the underscan and get in as close as i can with my camera to deal with moire
My tamron 45mm lens can do almost macro level recording, seems to work out.
I always wanted any type of crt like this. Never used one or seen one in peron

I gotta get me one of those desoldering guns. That would have saved me so much time on the Gameboy recapping project I did last year.
EJ I just noticed you bars at 15:45 the biais adjust in the service menu may be a little too high specially on the red channel the tube lookshealthy enought to give deeper black levels
I hope you know how lucky you are. I always wanted to play snes classics looking that good. I dunno if that'll ever happen on my end tho

C592 - why did you change it? It wasn't listed on Savon's Pat list.
At around 12:42 you can see the list and c592 is on the list he provided. In between c 572 and c 584

I've had it and it's excellent. Knob Creek in general is my standby. I recently had Jack Daniel's Bonded Rye and that totally blew me away! Was very tasty.

Yeah it’s nuts out there. There’s a pvm near me on Facebook marketplace that’s 2000 bucks. 20L5. A great pvm for sure but I would never spend that on it

Not at all. The trouble is finding someone reputable to do it who will actually be willing to do it locally to you. If you shop then that’s close to $100 additional. Hence why I say find someone that specifically handles these or game stuff.
Yeah...CRTs seems way too complicated for me to be willing to ever work on one lol
