- Jennie Ostertag broke a few shovels turning her blank yard into magical moments for family, friends, and wildlife. But as she struck rock, sheet mulched grass, and upcycled materials on a budget, she met a community of equally-challenged gardeners happy to share plants and advice. When working the soil became solace after a stressful work day, Jennie changed her life’s path, too.

What a beautiful garden! It's incredibly inspiring to see that diving in without a detailed plan can still wield such gorgeous results!
I love this! Came across her TikTok a few days ago and now she’s here! ❤
Love Jennie! She’s one of my favorite TT gardeners 💛
🙏🥰🎉
I LOVE Jennies tiktoks! Her garden and information are wonderful 🪴🌳🌿💚
How can I follow her
Delightful lady , yard is beautiful ❤
Love this channel! I started exchange plants with my neighbor too since last year.
How wonderful! Those will always have a special place in your heart!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this episode!
Beautiful garden!
I loved this episode. Beautiful garden. Nice to know that nearly all of us here in south central texas have been trying to adapt to one cataclysmic event after another. Love how she started a TT channel.
Love your garden! I wish I could see it. I live on a similar landscape lots of clay and big lumps of limestone in Barton Hills. I still have a lot of trees despite the ice and snow so my challenge is finding enough light.
It’s Jennie. ❤ Thank you! I totally understand and appreciate that tough site condition, a lot more difficult than even just a few miles east. Gardening in central Texas is a full mind and body challenge. 😂
A lovely garden! Just one comment - I saw a few mirrors within the space. Have they been an issue for bird collisions? I always worry about our precious feathered friends. Blessings.
Usually a wet area is not a good site for a rain garden. You lucked out there that it didn't become a sinky mess. Really like the fish collage and the garden is lovely.
Beautiful, young lady.
❤ It’s Jennie. Thanks for the kind words! As a 40 something mom that isn’t comfortable on camera it’s easy to be self critical. 🙏
@@SandAndStaple Please don't be, you're doing a tremendous job on camera and in your garden! I'm Anneke, under my husband's name on youtube, gardening in Namibia, so your garden truly inspired me!
Did you add any sand or DG. I have a lot of clay. What a beautiful garden. Where did she get the grow stuff sign.
It’s Jennie! No sand or DG in planting areas, but definitely DG and road base in some of the paths. Sand would make the soil problem worse. The best thing to break up heavy clay and rocky soil is organic material (compost and leaves). Happy gardening! ❤
