Shame on the AP sportswriters for never selecting this great man a Coach of the Year. That's a reflection of the media's bias if there ever was one because Coach Noll never kissed their asses.
The last part of his speech should be broadcast over-the-air for 24 hours a day 7 days a week
One of the greatest coaches of all time… Better than most people realize….
I appreciate when chuck said to the steelers in the 70 that cheering on each other is not going to win you games the habits you present in practice and represent on the field shall win you games - Chuck Noll
Chuck Noll is one of the best coaches ever and will never be replaced.
He was amazing
Steeler Coach Chuck Noll =Coaching Genius.
This Man put together the Greatest Football Team Ever! In 74' alone he drafted Swann, Lambert, Stallworth, & Webster: every 1 is in the HOF! He also acquired an undrafted player named Donnie Shell who is now also in the Hall of Fame! That brings the total to 10 HOF players brought to Pittsburgh by Chuck Noll and They won 4 Super Bowls in 6 years! Incredible accomplishment and to be honest, Kolb, Greenwood, Dwight White all deserve to be inducted as well!
If you look at their team in 1978 (which IMO is the best team of the four super bowls teams), every single player was drafted. I don't think there was even one player who had played for a different team.
All hall of famers
"We won our first game at Three Rivers Stadium and from that time on, it was all uphill." Understatement of the century.
Coach Noll, Steelers, And All The Players, Will Be Remembered For Decades,
Coach Noll was the 70's . ICONIC.
Charles Henry Noll...Emperor Chaz. Only retired 2 years before being inducted. God Bless and Thank You.
Chuck Noll was a great Pittsburgh Steeler coach
Best coach in franchise history
Prophetic words from the leader of one of the greatest teams in sports!
One of the best ever. Still the only head coach to lead his team to four Super Bowl titles in six seasons.
Charles Henry Noll, The Emperor Chaz……forever our Steeler Nation’s Architect of Greatness! Thank you sir, for everything. You and your kind are sorely missed.
RIP coach!!!
I'll always remember Chuck Noll
Thank you Coach Noll for delivering so much joy to steeler nation and helping to lay the foundation for this great organization and their rich history.
I think that is the most I have seen him smile.
Here we go steelers..here we go
A rare treat. Thank you for uploading this. Chuck Noll was the consummate teacher, manager, leader, and coaching intellect. On top of all his superlative attributes stood his unpretentiousness and his humility. Chuck Noll combined all of these rare qualities and in a most egoless manner. He selflessly bestowed these attributes upon his players so his team could perennially succeed to the summit of greatness, eventually securing their permanent and rightful place in sports history.
Chuck Noll is a legend because every player he coached were champs 4time NFL and most if not all like him are in the hall of fame
Forget about the fact that Noll won 4 Super Bowls in 6 years; he went to the AFC Championship game with Mark Malone and beat Warren Moon and the Oilers at home in the playoffs with Bubby Brister at quarterback. That's why IMO, Emperor Chazz is the Greatest Coach in the history of the NFL. PS4L!
I'm guessing, but I think the reason Sid Gillman hired Noll is precisely because he had no coaching experience. He someone that he could mold rather than an experienced coach who was setting his ways.
Not only is Noll the best coach the Steelers have ever had and probably ever wull have but he is one of the best coaches ever and he is disrespected by the NFL. Rarely do they ever mention him when they r talking about great HCs yet mist of the ciaches they talk about have not even come close 2 the accomplishments Noll had. Always #1 in r hearts and in Steeler Nation which is world wide. RIP coach.
mount rushmore of coaches
Absolutely! Somehow noll gets forgotten when discussing great coaches. You don't win 4 superbowls in 6 years without being a genius coach. His methodology and speaking was different than most coaches which is why I think he gets lost in the shuffle and people talk about coaches with half the success noll had.
Old 3 rivers a lot of sports histoy went through that stadium i was thinking exactly that as i watched it be imploded
Jesus! Audio guy. drop the db on the 1.2k already!
What decade do you think this was recorded in?
@@occamsox5331 according to history (and the title)…the 90s
Even now, the Steelers are only on their second coach since he retired
The media promotes greatness and the media NEVER promoted Chuck. It was Madden or Landry or Shula. Well who has the most championships? He beat Madden and Landry any time they played. Of course the game has changed but during that era after Lombardi there's Chuck. No questions. No argument. Just because he wasn't the media "darling " denying his true greatness is just wrong.
It was true then and it’s true now - “Everybody Hates Pittsburgh” - they hate to acknowledge that WE can be the best (let alone the truth, which is that we ARE).
By the way it is criminal that LC Greenwood is not in the HOF.
Long Live The Emperor !
Chuck never won coach of the year he should’ve been coach of the decade
To me the Steelers were more than steel curtain more like steel machine defense powerful
Did you not have to wait five years back then to be enshrined?
I was wondering that, too.
Chuck only made one mistake , he did concrete charley wrong , charley played for the eagles ,both sides of the ball
RRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
