Notice how he is giving his teammates all the praise and he is not bragging on himself like other athletes I know do. This is what you call a class act. You can see why people love Franco Harris.
One of my favorite stories came from Bradshaw. The team was playing Green Bay at their stadium. Rocky Blier was from that area and was near 100 years for the day, Franco kept telling Brad to give the ball to Rock, "I want to block for Rocky"...perhaps the most unselfish football superstar ever.
@@nickcupkovic5721 Hard to forget about Football, because that is how we came to know him. If it were not for him playing football, I would never knew who this guy was.
RIP Franco, (Franco's Italian Army!) 🇨🇮 Franco was 15 years older than me & I remember that day that he caught the emaculant reception, but that wasn't the only thing that he was known for in football. He was flee footed, light on his feet & he could change directions in a single cut. He also did so much for the communities in & around the Pittsburgh area & my fondest memory of him was at Saint Vincent college, him & all the Steelers came walking down to the field & I was so amazed at how big they all were & the time that I met him & shook his giant hand. He smiled & said hello young man are you a Steelers fan? & I said forever! Truthfully I just loved that whole team & my mother managed to get signed autographed pictures of some of the team but unfortunately they burned up in a fire at her house. But the memories will be with me forever, Thank you Franco for all the memories. 🤚🏾🏈✋🏾 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My mom passed away a week from now a year ago and she was a huge Steelers fan and watched them win the 4 superbowls as a teen and young adult. She loved Franco and all those guys. Sad to see us lose another great! RIP Mom and Franco!!! God Bless everyone and Merry Christmas!
To a man who was great on the field but greater off of the field ... humble soul and ambassador. May he rest in eternal peace and may the Lord cover his friends and family during this time of loss. He will truly be missed and I feel as if a part of my childhood has been taken from me personally ...I really looked up to Franco Harris and players of his ilk ... a great man gone too soon.
RIP to one of the best to do it. Lifelong Steelers fan. Been a rough day. I remember meeting him at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Very nice guy.
my grandpa played for the Steelers when Franco played for them he told me he was a great player and a awsome person I remember that he was very cause it was't just a player to us it was to him family so RIP Franco
From a Browns Fanatic,,,Congratulations on a Great Honor, and Career...It was Fun watching you play, even against us. Well Deserved. (and right behind you, in the black suit........The great Al Davis of the Raiders). RIP AL !.............Stay Browns ! ......ET
Franco Harris. He crushed the super bowl dreams of two young boys that immaculate day, but I will always remember him fondly. RIP all time great and legend. Shame he didnt get to celebrate his number being retired tomorrow night. 🏈🙏
@travisstoudt8723 he passed away but he was tall and fast you don't see running backs that are 6 foot 4 every day I didn't know he's my father. I watch classic NFL sometimes very different game today
Franco Harris speech says it all...he was a true teammate, great football player, and a great humanitarian! 👍 RIP Franco Harris...rest easy in heaven!🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️
Thank You Franco for being a beacon of joy in my life. A man amongst men. A leader by example and not just words! I love you brother. peace and blessings to you in the afterlife.
I'm section 217 27-30. Lifetime holder that I bought from my old man. 75th anniversary game Franco and Bradshaw are club level just above our section. There's about a 12 foot concrete wall behind the 200 level. I told my future wife Franco and Bradshaw were 12-15 feet above us. They noticed her. Fellow steelers fans lifted us to shake their hands and express our gratitude for making such an indelible mark on the game. Franco was larger than life and deserves all the praise he ever receives. Here we go Steelers
Amazing how humble he is and how he talks about everyone but himself. Great player but what a really, really good person. Also watch The reactions of Al Davis as Franco is talking. I love it
Neon Dion - This is how a Champion conducts himself - This is a Man with incredible intellect and he is the personification of class - Franco ran over people - he was tougher than Tarzan's Feet and a nice fella - Thanks Franco
Awesome running back with great cutting ability and enough size you couldn't arm tackle him either. At one time he was top 5 career in rushing yards. And the main character in the greatest play in nfl history the immaculate reception.
I know the talking heads say the Dallas Cowboys are America's team - but I beg to differ. The Pittsburgh Steelers travel better than any other team in the NFL - PERIOD! R.I.P. Franco and Godspeed taking the handoff to the house!!!!
Franco is similar to me he's multiracial. Italian and African American. I'm Middle Eastern and African American. He's old but had a great career he is my favorite Running Back of all time
Wow his mom name is Gina u know that u are Italian then. He played around the same time as Walter Payton who I like also. Running back position is amazing I originally fell in love with the QB position but I gained a lot of respect for running backs. I'm a college football fan I still follow NFL but love college sports
This was Franco Harris inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame at the age of 40 with full head of hair. What a shocking surprise that he went bald later in his life before he died on December 20, 2022 at the age of 72. Rest in peace Franco.
Decent, he was 3rd all time in rushing yards when he retired. Rarely plagued by injuries, he ended up in Seattle by either his own big head of very bad advice. He was entering that year close to Jim Brown's all time record, he held out for more money and the Steelers traded him.
@@markinman8156 He didn't have a big head...he didn't want to play for a team that wasn't winning...read the interviews that are online ...he can explain it in only the way Franco Harris can. I wish we could have met him. Larger than life.
R.I.P FRANCO HARRIS. GOD BLESS HIM AND HIS FAMILY. FROM THE RAIDER NATION. SAD DAY THE RAIDER STEELER GAMES WERE THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. I WAS 7 YEARS OLD EATING AT DENNYS IN SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA WITH MY MOTHER , WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THESE GUYS WERE HOPPING OVER THE COUNTER GOING FOR THE TELEVISION THAT WAS THE IMMACULATE DECEPTION PLAY.

I really really miss those days.
May Franco Harris rest in peace. And may his loved ones be comforted and healed.

Like most everyone in Pittsburgh, I knew Franco. And I can tell you with all my heart that to know him was to love him.
Another class act. I just read about the 'Franco's Italian Army'. Diversity was strong in Steeler Nation.

A running back with the last name Harris....
But he is known by his first name.. that is true fame

Ya think? Ha ha, here we go Steelers here we go!
He had a decent career injuries plagued him that's why he ended his career in Seattle. He played 10 or 11 seasons I'm not entirely sure.
