    BOSS Ovedrive OD-3! Let me know what you think of this in the comments. 😎🎸 It's been 13 years since I made a video on this pedal and it's a lot of fun. Affiliate links below if you like the sound of it, and it's a decent price!

    The OD 3 is the first overdrive I bought and I still have, and use it. If I'm going to a jam session, I usually just grab a small amp and the OD 3 and I'm good to go. I love the "bloom" you get from this pedal. Its like compression, but you don't loose the attack. Its really great for playing slide!

      @@Unusednickname_1970 If you love this pedal, there is another that I highly recommend you try. Its the one that kicked the OD 3 off of my main board when I was gigging. Namely, the Lovepedal OD 11. Lovepedal don't make the model anymore, but you can pick them up on Reverb for not much money. Really the best " Transparent" overdrive out there, and I've tried them all!

    As a mostly rhythm player in the style of Guthrie, Summers, Marr, this is my favorite always on pedal. With a Gretsch or Tele going into a Jazz Chorus and the gain set all the way down it just makes the sound bloom and chime with sustain. The clarity is amazing. Pushes the Suhr Riot well.

    this is my favorite overdrive for low to mid gain stuff...country, blues, classic rock, through the clean channel of my peavey bandit "red stripe". it turns it into a very voxy thing, that's really reacts to single coils well. It's def not a "marshallizer" so i do keep a plexi in a box pedal around for times when its needed....but by far...this is my favorite od through the clean channel of an amp.

  • @KoenStrobbe-fv5us
    @KoenStrobbe-fv5us 4 месяца назад

    Ha, I had mine for over 20 years and it's the only overdrive pedal that has remained without interruption. My preferred way is to use it in front of a tube amp clean channel with the pedal at relatively low drive (9 to 10 o'clock). Depending how you set the tube amp's gain it changes the tone of the amp. You can also use even lower drive settings to change the color of the clean tones. It is a bit of a forgotten overdrive pedal these days but it is super versatile. The only other drive pedal i use is a JHS AT+ because it gives a very different sound. I have to say though that the demo sounds here don't really do it justice :) You can get way better tones with it than what is shown here.

    5:05 This is a good example of the limitations of trying to judge the tone on gear by any video or sound clip. Listening to it from the video, the difference with the guitar volume at half vs full wasnt very dramatic. Whereas I know from experience that if we were in that room with the amp, the difference would be night and day. Beyond the EQ curve a lot of the tonal characteristics gets lost in translation.
    With that said, while I'm a purist at heart when it comes to Teles, Strats, Gibson, etc; the twin rails in the neck on that Tele sounds miles better than a traditional Television neck pup could ever hope.
