Maybe the side!? When you are laying on the ground on your non dominate side, having to shoot under a truck? Used for cover! You'll want a nice prop, for your gun! It could happen.... When the SHTF, all bets are off!
I purchased a bipod with an Arca Rail attachment for my new Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro which has an Arca-Loc rail built in to the chassis. I could not prevent the bipod from slipping under recoil. The serrated edge of the Arca-loc rail just didn't provide enough friction with the plain Arca Rail bipod so I ended up purchasing an Arca-Loc mounting block from Area 419 which has worked perfectly. So I would propose that a standard Arca Rail mounting block is not compatible with an Arca-Loc rail with the serrated edge under recoil
So glad to see Area419 stuff at Brownells. I've been using the Arca (and ArcaLock) system for a while now and it's an amazing addition to the tool bag. I chuckle to myself at all the negative comments - if you don't know, you don't know. Keep living under that rock!! "Nothing new is good!!" LOL!!🤣🤣🙄🤦
What I don't like is that it's yet ANOTHER competing mounting method that you will probably need an adapter to work. Most of what it accomplishes can be achieved using M-LOK or Picatinny rail (and those have some of their own advantages). Adapters add cost, complexity, and weight.
From a stability viewpoint, the Arca has a lot going for it. I like the release and slide options, sadly, until I have more money to throw at my present platforms, it will have to wait. Maybe after the Uprising.
2:34 What is that FDE colored thumb screw on the Arca attachment? Is that fastener sold separately anywhere? I'd like to get that for my MagnetoSpeed's picatinny mount so I don't have to pull out the hex key on every visit to the range.
Morning Caleb, I have a S&W MP2 Sport Amalite rifle 15 with the round holes in the rail. Will this work on that configuration? And if u would please recommend another system for that type of handrail. Thanks Matt
Replace that handguard with a better one that has built in mlok, key mod, or 1913 rails on it. The M&P's have no heat shield and are not designed for attachments. There are a few that work with that style but you are really limiting yourself. Try a Magpul SL or MOE handguard with mlok attachment points. Take care.
Ok. I see the pros. It’s not absurd on the price. Just looked that up. It’s probably not a bad idea for certain applications. At first I was like. Oo yea. Cool sure another dovetail style mount. But. I see it’s use.
I suggest looking into an Mlok to ARCA rail with an ARCA to picatinny adapter, then mounting a picatinny to Mlok adapter on that. After that, get a QD sling attachment for Mlok.
@crossmachinetool makes some nice handguards with ARCA rails on the bottom for AR-15 and AR-10/DPMS style if you're going with a semi AR-15/AR-10 rifle
Thanks for your vid. A lot of confusion with 419 and the rest of the arca rails for sale. I hardly ever-ever follow trendy stuff that keeps hitting my screen. Arca is/was one of them. I hunt pigs at night so when cleaning up and putting everything away I'm usually exhausted. My harris bipod is a pain to install and remove on the sling stud. It works very good but still a pain. I broke down and bought a cheap arca rail for my RPR rimfire just to see what it's all about and I'm totally sold on the idea. I bought a harris to arca adapter and now it installs/removes in seconds. I'm going to convert my hunting rifle to arca asap. If anyone is not familiar with arca and want to try it, I suggest go for it.
So I need it explained mo betta? Lol The rail gets mounted on my existing mlok forend? Will it accept magpul AFG? So I don't have to mount with the afg adaptor rail? I would like to have the afg and a bipod on same arca rail. Is that possible? Thanks
An AR upper reciever w/ Arca-Swiss rail may be nice, for easily adjusting the eye box / eye relief, when using scopes. Or if you were switching from your day time scope, to night vision: scope or thermal. Hum? 🤔
ArcaLock, the system developed by Area419, does indeed lock and keep items from sliding. But unlike Pic rail, has way more adjustability and is faster. If you don't need it no worries, just another option.
It is an extremely quick and stable platform for accessories. As an example, in PRS matches, you can add or remove a rail bag and/or a bipod extremely quickly. Unlike MLOK/Picatinny/Keymod. It also allows infinite adjustability which Pic rail can't do. If your application doesn't require that, then this system isn't for you. 👍
Heavier, wider and more expensive. Not my cup of tea but absolutely can see how this can be beneficial for the tripod hunters who don't want to carry a shooting bag separately.
I can fore-see a market for NEW forward rail, coming! Imagine an after-market, foreward rail with the Arca-Swiss rail, pre-made on the bottom, and M-Lok on the top & sides! Then you can easily upgrade your existing AR-14 to become a PRS..ish or Competetion rifle! Plus, its rounded top and flat sides and bottom, would be very comfortable to grip? 🫴 My idea! 😊
Off the subject, but, could you do a video on how to install and get to work smoothly a PDQ lever slide release. I did mine with a dremel and file, but it is too sticky to work properly.
You could say 1913 is just Weaver with indexing. Each of these is designed for slightly different situations. You have to understand your needs to know which is right in which situation.
Arca has been around for well over 30 years. It has been used in shooting applications for at least 15 years now. It's not going away especially since it replaced the sub-par Manfrotto RC2 plate which people tried to adapt for shooting applications because they didn't know about the 1.5" dovetail spec. Arca is the better clamp system for tripods and since tripod shooting is a thing, Arca-Swiss style clamps will be on bipods. Coupled with the fact that there are dual compatible clamps that work on both Arca and Picatinny, there's no reason to be using Picatinny only clamps on bipods or tripods.
Therapist: Upside down bipod can't hurt you. Upside down bipod isn't real. Nobody would-
Caleb: 😃
I had to.
It's particularly helpful for tripod-mounted shooting to adjust the balance point of the rifle.
Thank you for clarifying that you wouldn't mount your bipod to the top rail. 🤣
you know people were gonna comment about it lol... it's YT after all
Damn, I've been doing it wrong this whole time.
He would if he were Australian

I've had ab Arca-Swiss ball head since the 80's. It's a decent system.
6:00 Now you can shoot upsidedown from somewhere. Mission accomplished. * Contra level complete theme plays *
Great info video. Always enjoy them
Thanks for the info!

When I am doing tuck n roll drills with my dog…the bipod on top rail is very effective! 😂

@@Ash_95 Thanks for the info/reply 👌

You could use the top mount on a ceiling :)

Who makes the bipod adapter that allows the use of both Pic and ARCA ?
Search RRS BTC-Pro
I now want a bipod on the top rail

Hum? 🤔
So is the point that you can have m-loc and arca rail available at the same time and they don't interfere?
So no lugs or locking points to keep it from moving up and down the rail like picatinny has?
ArcaLock, the system developed by Area419, does indeed lock and keep items from sliding. But unlike Pic rail, has way more adjustability and is faster. If you don't need it no worries, just another option.
Where do you find the videos on the website?
I think you just sold me on the mdt grnd pod😂
Is it proprietary?
am i missing something? if it's not for holding a zero, what does Arca offer that a 1913 pic rail doesn't?

What stock is that ?

My idea! 😊
The issue would be getting an extrusion with a shape that could be made into that rail. It'd be a weird extrusion.
Geissele MK-18 is already here?
So Arca is wide Picatinny without the slots.
What butt stock is on the ar ?
Off the subject, but, could you do a video on how to install and get to work smoothly a PDQ lever slide release. I did mine with a dremel and file, but it is too sticky to work properly.
Yes! It's already in the works!
🎉
Everyone who is ragging on Arca-Swiss style dovetails is clutching stubbornly to their Manfrotto RC2 plates.
Is that an Arca system that you use to mount the hair piece? Twitch, twitch
What is 17S I have heard about ARCA Swiss not 17S
ruclips.net/video/7yhGRCTi3tQ/видео.html
Actually this ARCA technology is camera's technology in long time ago.
Yo my friends.. it’s been one month since you had a Smyth busters video.. what’s going on I am having separation anxiety 😳😳😳😳😳😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Getting ready for season 2
360 bipods be ready to shoot from any position. The newest tacticool fad.
It's 1913 with quick release 🤷🏽♂️
You could say 1913 is just Weaver with indexing. Each of these is designed for slightly different situations. You have to understand your needs to know which is right in which situation.
EXACTLY 😂 Only worse!
Yeah, that’s cool, but definitely prefer pic rail. Your mileage may vary. I just don’t see the value. Appreciate the info. Hard pass
I guess i gotta buy more stuff again...
Actually, I'm good.
Have you heard of quick release mounts? It's BEEN DONE!
Con: most ARCA mounted tripods wont pan.
Blocker
?
I predict a quick death of this mounting system... thankfully

LOL!! Oh man. That's hilarious!! Terrific Troll comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you took your shirt out of the dryer and hung it up warm, maybe wouldn't be so wrinkled.........

Where’s the old dude? Not as fun
