Milling Machine Simulator Game.... Yes This Actually Exists

  • G'day everyone,
    This weeks project ended up taking longer than expected, so instead I thought that I'd do something a little different. Recently I learnt that there was a new milling machine simulator game on pc, and I thought that it would be fun to experience it with you. The game is called milling machine simulator 3D. I expected it to be another poorly made simulator game, as many are, but it seemed to be more fleshed out and well made, although it needs more development.

    its a nice toy at the moment though i guess with a cnc style handwheel remote controller you should be able to make it move a little less clunky in operation
    dont seem to be able to choose a machine (having an rf45 clone myself )
    do think that it be a nice program to test tools on for amount of power needed to run it , introducing chatter at the right points , having the part shoot off the table if you dont have enough clamping , and feeds and speeds
    think it could become usefull if the developper puts a little more work in it and maibe inputs about 2/3ths of the data out of the machinist handbook in it so it responds a little more realistic in finishes on the material
    its going to end up being a huge program to be able to work with all that data

    • @olieboer
      @olieboer Год назад +1

      I think you could just use the rpm and nr of flutes of the cutter to calculate chipload per mm traversal. If that value exceeds the maximum chipload of the cutter used, it will break.
      It would look someting like (rpm / 60 / nrOfFlutes ) * feed(in mm/s).
      The maximum chipload will depend on diameter of the cutter used, and the materials it is made from.

    Does this game discern between conventional and climb cutting? Seems like a cool little game, but seems to be a VERY stripped down idea of what is involved in machining, like its basically feeds and speeds the game. Indicating your vise, modifying the cutting edges of your drill or tools for different materials, work holding w/ various clamping systems, using sine bars, measuring devices, indicating the head of your machine, keeping everything square. Hopefully they add more to it! A machining game is sorely needed.
